“not impressed”

Was a bit disappointed with the cleanliness and comfort of the hotel. As the bed cover still had stains on it and there was not even basic Shampoo and conditioner provided.

“Useful base to explore”

The hotel - I stayed end of March - was being done up. Forget the air-con, the TV was an electrical hazzard, the bed a Troll's bench and the view was ducting. But why moan, it's a very reasonable place to see Malta (which it's what it all about).

“Who needs natural light in a hotel room?”

I had not expected a view. I did not expect no usable windows at all, and no natural light. The room was shabby, but at least it was clean. The overhead light and fan did not work. The side lights were too dim to read by (and the shades kept falling off). The one light that worked was an un-shaded bulb sticking out from a wonky fitting on the side of the wardrobe. The beds would have been comfortable enough - except that the sheets were too small to tuck in, even the bottom sheets. There were no proper hangers, just half a dozen plastic skirt hangers, that was all. There were no usable sockets - but in fairness the staff provided an extension on asking and plugged it in (just as well as I'd never have found the socket in the wardrobe). There was a mass of cables piled in the corner. There were no chairs or stools, nor any coffee- or tea-making facilities. And most depressing of all, the one very small window, right in the corner behind the 'vanity unit' (with no light whatsoever in that corner it was useless as such) was covered by a very heavy curtain which was almost impossible to pull back (probably because it looked out on another window, and industrial units and wall, just a foot or so away), so there was no natural light whatsoever in the room. It was a deeply depressing experience. The rooftop pool was filthy and unusable. At least the staff were friendly. Breakfast was uninspiring but adequate.
