“Sliema Fortina Spa Hotel - Great Place”
Good hotel at excellent value. It has SIX restaurants to'Dine Around the World'. The staff could not be faulted; room was great. Only drawback was no hotel car park for guests but the shopping centre car park was only yards away.
“Fab”
Had a lovely time- good breakfast, helpful staff will definitely use this hotel again.
“Definitely not a 5 star hotel”
This is not a 5 star hotel whatever it calls itself. The bedding in our room was not changed at all during a 4 days stay. They said it was not their policy to do so but would have changed our bedding the day before we left but did not bother to do so because we were leaving the next day! The staff were a little too prickly for my liking. The pool deck overlooking the sea was very crowded becaus eit was shared with the sister hotel next door. The hotel's own pool was in the shade most of the time. The breakfasts were OK but the diing room ws nothing to write home about. No frsh bread on Sunday because most things in Malta are closed on Sunday. The lifts were slow and one of the two of them broke down twice during our stay which meant it took a long time to get from the room to the lobby. The hallways were not air-conditioned and were quite hot at all times.
“fortina revue”
Excellent hotel all the five places to eat were fabulous will definately go back to malta its a lovely place with lots more to see and if we didn't stop at the fortina I would think we were missing out . I''ve read revues where people said the reception staff were snotty but in our case they couldn't have been more pleasent or helpfull
“wish we wre there now”
Excellent location for sightseeing , buses , and airport .Situated in a quieter part of the island . Had a room with a harbour view would recommend this rather than a room with garden view , which overlooks the pool area .Staff were always polite and accomodating . Cant wait to visit again . Would highly recommend.
“fortina spa resort”
The hotel far exceeded my expectations in regard to quality and comfort. It provided excellent value for money. The food in all the restruants within the hotel provided excellent food at reasonable cost. The breakfasts in particular were of an excellent standard. However, stay clear of the timeshare salesman. they will tell you that in return for 1 hour of your time, you will receive free treatment at the health spa. The time taken for their sales pitch, in fact exceeds 2 hours. The free treatment given was not worth over 2 hours of my time. In spite of this, I strongly recommend this hotel.
“First Class choice at a competitive price”
Excellent hotel in an excellent location for doing exactly what you want to do. The view from the balcony was not great but it was what I booked and cannot complain. The choice of restaurants if eating in the hotel was excellent and there were plenty of local bars/restaurants (and shops) within a short stroll from the hotel. Perhaps the hotel does not attract a lot of yougsters but fr the slightly older generation this is probably quite convenient! We'll be back at this hotel for sure. Malta is a wonderful location for a 4/5 day break and the hotel is close to the bus stops and ferry terminals. Don't use the taxis as they are a "rip-off"; use the wonderful old yellow buses - they are cheap and cheerful and a great experience. Try to have the correct fare as change is not always forthcoming! We'll be back in Malta and at he same location.
“Spa Rooms are great”
We book the regular room but was upgraded to the SPa room. We thought cool, but no big deal, right? We were wrong!! Those rooms are way cool and I think we agreed the coolest room we ever stayed in! There were so many good things about the room including the three Hot tubs! We used the big one behind the bed everyday just to relax before heading out to dinner. There is also an in room Sauna and the hotel provides all the wellness muds and serums at no charge. We are coffee drinkers and the hotel also provides an expresso machine for free and was another nice thing to sit on the large terrance and have a coffee every day. There are also other great hotel amenities like the full gym, yoga classes and several pools. The only thing that kept this from being perfect rating to us was the Breakfast staff and food. The breakfast provided was not the best quality, but it seems if you got the all inclusive package they would provide you a better selection and fresh food.
“Dissapointing service.”
The lobby is the coolest indoor area of the hotel! Forget about using the air conditioning - it's useless. We found it better to open the window/door! The reception staff are grumpy and unhelpful. We arrived at about 9.00 pm and were finally served after 15 minutes, by the only receptionist in the lobby, who had been looking at the internet computer (that I'm on now!) with another guest, trying to work out why it wasn't working. He failed! He wasn't attentive or apologetic and didn't explain anything about the hotel. As we walked to the lift, he called us back, so he could rectify a mistake that he'd made - again, no apology! We had booked a garden view room, but were given a concrete block view, but it did have a spacious balcony with a hot tub - that didn't work properly! I am surprised that it is rated a 5*. It is a kind of time-share hotel as we found to our slight disappointment. We were given a couple of free spa vouchers in turn for a 3.5 hour presentation from a friendly salesman regarding the 'fraction-share' available at the hotel. We were told that it would be approximately 1 hour! We enjoyed the empty spa sessions though. The 'members' appear to get good service, but it's probably best not to come here as a 'normal' civilian, as we appeared to be an annoyance to the staff! The breakfast was great and the waiter/waitresses were very attentive and friendly
“not really 5 star”
there is a lot wrong with this hotel, and some good thingss, the main bar(limes) is hopeless and bland with unsmiley staff, rooms overlooking the garden were not sunny in end of may, the view to the harbour is amazing, tastes and chinese eateries were good, spa staff in some cases were not welcoming, if you were bed and breakfast, very little interest from the staff with constant requests for ID.Lots of building work at the moment around the side and rear, gardens are good and quite tranquil with plesant pool, not too good for kids. Age profile is quite high, reminds me of the film cocoon. Arrival procedures were dismal took 40 minutes on a saturday morning
