Do not go all inclusive it's a major mistake

Posted 06-Sep-2014
Pros: The location
Cons: Hygiene, staff friendliness and helpfulness.
We booked a superior room, this was fine. The staff all walk around with their chins on the floor with the exception of the house keeping staff. On three separate occasions we asked the front desk to open the room safe so that we could use it. This did not happen so we had to walk around with our valuables all week. Pick pockets operate on the hotel premises and directly outside at the bus terminus. Two separate occasions we know of. The food is all buffet style the food is very good but the hygiene is appalling a young boy stood licking the ice scoop and then returning it into the ice cream container, another young boy removing meat from a serving dish with his fingers, dropped a piece of meat on the floor then picked it up and returned it to the serving dish! Both cases witnessed by staff who turned a blind eye.

It was great for couple of days doing nothing. We really enjoyed it. It is not a hotel I would choose for sightseeing. But for relax, swimming, spa, activities is the best.

Beautiful place

The hotel located beautiful, the view is amazing from the garden, from restaurants there are 4 pools, very clean, organized beach. Impressed us. But unfortunately the hotel staff is very unprofessional, and we didnt expect to much, but i knew more about the menu after 2 days then our waitress, i got different things what i ordered, i was disappointed and the staff didnt try to make us happy just keep running around even it wasnt busy time! The most helpful, kind and really great person was a student girl at reception( we dont know her name, blond, young girl was working on 16/07/14) who made our day great and we felt respected and valued after her service! The hotel prices are good, competitive but not to expensive! Anyway it is a great hotel with lots of opportunity to spend time, amazing atmosphere! We enjoyed our stay!

Nice hotel in a tourist area

Posted 26-May-2014
Pros: St Pauls bay area is a beautiful one and many nice restaurantes nearby.
Cons: Markings in lobby, eg where to go to find the hotel garden.
Location: Venus restaruant is nearby, really good food and atmosphere. Highly recommended.
We had overall a very good stay at Dolmen hotel. The SPA looks really good even if we didn't try it. The garden is good with 2 pools, only minus is that there is a road in between the garden and the sea so some noisy cars we had to adapt to. When we arrived we were put in a small smoking room, which was not what we ordered and paid for, but the hotel compensated by free dinner and drinks and moved us to a much nicer room the day after. So overall very good stay, but with disappointing start and really no apologies from the hotel staff.

Great location, shame about the construction work!

Posted 20-Apr-2014
The hotel is generally really good, located on the coast, near the bus station and close to the city centre. However the hotel is slightly dated, the seaview room is very good and the room we had (5th floor) was the refurbished. One pool is well kept the other had a lot of construction work around it, same with the private beach area which was annoying. The hotel doesnt have a sign outside which is bizzarre. The breakfast was excellent with a wide selection of food. If your looking to tour the whole of malta you'd rather stay near valetta, st julians or Silema as you'd have to take a 40min bus ride daily to get in. You can book trips to gozo from ticket stalls along the coast and it would be less than half price if you were to book via concierge. I'd recommend hornblower, walk toward Mc D's or pizza hut and you'll see it along the coast. Also there is no free WiFi! So if you go to McD's you could use their wifi an there are a few cafes that have wifi too.
