“St George Hotel - Malta”
Excellent
“Very clean, excellent service”
Clean hotel and room, very helpful staff and concierge, excellent balcony views. Some work still going on outside but didn't affect experience.
“Pleased with choice”
Staff very friendly and responded well to problems. Our room safe didn't work on arrival but security man came up within 5 minutes and it was repaired by the time we got back from our outing. Concierge very helpful in sorting out trips and reception very promptly sorted out a problem with our airport transport. Good range of restuarants which meant we didn't have to venture out of the complex at night. Nearby Paceville was quite convenient for shopping essentials but was not an area that appealed to us. Nevertheless it was easy to get to other places and the Maltasightseeing buses came down to the hotel. Low score on cleanliness was mainly due to the balcony which had cigarette ends and paper wrappers on it when we arrived. Our bed covers and cushions were not replaced on two days and there was some missing grouting in the bathroom. Otherwise everything was fine. The pool area was lovely and peaceful.
“Malta”
Stayed in this hotel for 6 days at the beginning of April. Very disappointed with the hotel. The pictures looked nice and the reviews were ok so I booked it. However, our room was not just dirty it was filthy... it smelt of sewage and it was the worst 5star hotel I have ever stayed it considering we go away at least three times a year and stay in 5 star.St Julian's is a bit boring, not much to do although it is very close to Valletta which is beautiful. The hotel is located next to Corinthia sister 4 star hotel, people staying there can use Corinthia 5 stay facilities, so it might be worth saving and stay next door and enjoy 5 star facilities anyway! By the way food is much nicer in 4 star!
“Looking forward to going back!”
The hotel was lovely and the facilities were great it was just a shame about the weather as we went in February and it was dull wet & windy and the outside areas are not used til the summer it will be great to go back then. The location is great there are some bars & clubs within walking distance but the hotel is far enough away so that you can't hear the nightlife. A taxi from the airport to the hotel will cost you 20 euro which we thought was very reasonable and we booked one to take us back to the airport on our return and they came early to get us so very good service. There are loads of places to eat in the hotel & around the local area so your never short of choice. There is a casino across the bay with choices of games to play and where you can get a meal as well which makes for a good night out. You can catch the local bus outside the hotel which will take you to Silema & Valetta the main towns in Malta and you can also get the sight seeing bus which does diiferent tours around the island outside the hotel as well. We found a great place to eat in St.Julians bay called the Papparazzi it sits right on the bay and the views were lovely and so was the food highly recommended. Malta is a lovely place if you want to get away from it all and have a quiet holiday we cannot wait to go back in the warmer weather.
“More than adequate!”
An excellent 5 star with clean, comfortable rooms, mine boasting a large L-shaped balcony with fine views. Food and drink were up to standard but a little expensive for a family on holiday. €4.00 for a coffee! An ideal business hotel but for a holiday the lack of a proper beach might be a dissappointment to many. Having said that, the hotel facilities were superb with three outdoor pools, one indoor, and gym/sauna etc. An easy walk to the St. Julian's night scene but bus or taxi needed to get to Valetta or Sliema.
“Peaceful but near the bustle.”
I would come back here. Good value and just right for a St. Julians experience without being in the thick of it.
“Nice hotel”
Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The bathroom had seen better times but worked well with clean towels daily. The buffet breakfast and dinner in the restaurant were good but would be rather crowded if the hotel was full - it was off-season when we were there. The other restaurants in the complex offered a nice selection of menus but were quite expensive. The pools were clean and well set out but it took a lot of effort to find the source of towels.
“Awful Experience”
The hotel is overcrowded and shares a pool with surrounding resorts. The food is low quality fast food - pizza, burgers, french fries-which didn't even taste good. The maid came to clean our room at 9 am each day when we were sleeping and never came back later in the day so our room was not cleaned for 3 days. The entire hotel smelled wet and moldy. They set up a wedding reception under our hotel balcony at night and we listened to horrible wedding music until 2 am and couldn't sit out on the balcony. The people working at the hotel were rude. The location is next to a bunch of clubs and restaurants that are only good for young teenagers who sit on the beach drinking and want to get wasted. It is not a scenic or relaxing vacation destination.
“Hotel needs inside to be like outside!”
Hotel was beautiful from outside, foyer and pools. Room was not 5 star! House keeping was terrible, room was not cleaned only bins emptied. Vacum was not used once during our 7 night satay.Nor was it vacumed before our check in ,dust ,hair and rubbish on carpet from previous guest. Sheets were requested 4 nights out of 7 once delivered they were taken away next day , just to lazy to make beds up. Extra coffee mugs and towels were requested more than 3 times. At checkout when I complained about housekeeping, they told me a lot of complaints had come in and they were trying to change staff! Lets hope that happens soon. Hotel was nice but pools close early and hotel needs repair to pull back to 5 star, at present 3 stars and 1 star for cleaniness. Must say breakfast was very nice and staff willing to help with request.
