This hotel was suprisingly really nice. It was clean, had everything we needed and a nice pool. The staff were helpful and the hotel was just around the corner from the bay, a short walk from bugibba square and the bus station. After the negative reviews, my friend and I really didn't know what to expect but we were pleasantly suprised by the comfort and convenience of this hotel. We didn't eat in the restaurant or stay for the entertainment but the BBQ they had by the pool looked lovely. As some other people have said, the air con in the living room (not the one in the bedroom), was loud but that didn't really bother us.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a relaxing stay in Malta in a comfortable hotel.
We stayed at the end of October for a week and were so impressed by both the friendliness of the staff and the lovely spacious apartment. On our arrival Roxana at reception was really helpful and took time with us to answer our questions. Later when I went down to the restaurant to ask where the nearest shop was to buy some milk Rita the waitress said they were closed but said don’t worry I will give you some. Over the course of the week we got to know Joe, Johnny and Tony who along with Rita made eating in the restaurant such an enjoyable experience and they felt like friends. The breakfast is very good and is self-service, catering for continental as well as hot breakfasts. The hot breakfast consists of sausages, bacon, scrambled egg, baked beans and hot tomatoes, a better selection than in some Hotels we have stayed in abroad, you can also have as many teas or coffees as you like. We had intended to eat out after the first night but enjoyed the meal so much that we ate there every night. They have a good selection of pizza’s, pasta’s and meat dishes with prices comparable if not cheaper than the local restaurants. With the fridge, microwave etc. you can eat in if you wish and the fridge being in the main room you don’t hear it. The only down side for us was that with tiled floors you could hear dining chairs scraping on the floors above as people moved them. This wouldn’t bother people who got up early around 6-30 but may if like us you prefer another hour of sleep. A plea
We booked this place to stay based on the reviews and was not disappointed, it was exactly as described a truly impressive restoration done by Frank the owner who made us very welcome and extremely helpful. Valetta is a beautiful city with plenty of places to eat, visit and shop. We had a lovely holiday and have already recommended staying here to friends.

We had a lovely week at Shamrock. The accomodation is not luxurious (no microwave, electric kettle etc), but was spacious and perfect for our needs - and for the price very good value for money. We had a lovely stay at Shamrock. Antida (the proprietor) was very helpful and friendly.
Shamrock is in Bugibba, with plenty of options for eating out - and a very small beach to swim just down the road. Like most of Malta's beaches, it is stony so take beach shoes with.
I read in other reviews people complaining that their children were not allowed to splash around in the rooftop pool etc. If your children are well behaved and respect the house rules, you will be fine at Shamrock. If your children are wild, either keep them under control or choose a different establishment where noise etc is permitted.
All in all Shamrock represents good value for money basic self-catering accommodation and I would certainly recommend it.

Start to finish, this was a terrific place to stay. Huge rooms, very clean and with full amenities (washer and dryer and all) and good staff who were very accommodating of our 9pm arrival time (with advance phone call). And the location was truly excellent for both the wedding we attended and for all sorts of tourist activities, on the sea and in the lovely city of Valletta. Nearby grocery store was outstanding. It's lively around St Julian's on a Friday and Saturday night, but we nonetheless had no trouble sleeping as our bedroom was on the courtyard.
Lovely self catering accommodation with lovely view of the bay from the front of the apartments, however We do note that there were rear apartments that only have a view of a mural wall, which if we had, we would have been a little disappointed with.
Facilities in apartment and space was very good, however the beds weren't the most comfortable.(hard mattress, personal preference?)
It was late in season and the pool was " Bracing" and only had sun till noon.May be warmer earlier in season??However a beautiful ,clean and well positioned pool.
The only contact we had with the apartment manager was efficient and friendly.
Situated around the corner of the more busier part of the bay, which suited us well.
Restaurant food was fine and staff were as helpful as they were able and very friendly.
Local transport was easily accessible, affordable and well worth it.
We would stay here again.
Hotel: The staff could not be anymore helpful. From giving alternative room options to advising the best local restaurants. The rooms are clean and more than adequate. (We stayed in rm 214 - family room - which had 1 x double rm, 1 x twin rm, 2 x lounge areas, 2 x bathrooms and a nice kitchen/dining area). There is free wi-fi available and also has a hairdryer (which is not specified in the facilities). There is a lovely little bar and seating area. Didn't sample the breakfast so cannot comment. You can tell that they are carrying out decor updates but we were happy to overlook this as it didn't impact the facilities. The view from the rooftop pool is stunning, especially when the sunsets.
Location: The hotel is in a brilliant location. The bus depot is literally round the corner and it only costs 1.5 euros for a full day ticket to anywhere on the Island. After visiting the Island we found that the Qawra was certainly the best place for a wider range of restaurants and bars and some are very British if you want the option of feeling home from home.
Other tips to fellow travelers: Toiletries are very expensive so try to bring as much as your own to cut costs. If you are on a budget, try to avoid going into the first restaurant you see. Have a bit of a look around as the costs can range drastically. We had one lovely meal on a budget and then went to another place that didn't show prices are were charged 50 euros for a shared fish platter. Bit of a shock!!!
