“Great hotel with wonderful views”
This is a really good hotel and very good value for money. Our room was very comfortable and peaceful. It is definitely worth paying extra for the 'Maritime View' rooms as the view was captivating at all times of the day and night. We spent a few afternoons around the pool and although it was busy we always managed to get some sun loungers. There is a poolside bar/cafe where they serve reasonably priced drinks and snacks. We also paid for the breakfast option and it was well worth it! There is a great choice of breakfast foods - the pancakes with maple syrup were lovely. The staff at reception were very helpful. When we checked in and went to our room we discovered that we had been given a lateral sea view room in error. However, within minutes this was sorted out and we moved straight into a Maritime View room. All in all Palma is a beautiful and charming city with lots of things to see and do. It was nice to stay near the marina and the Palas Atenea allows you to be near the city but with the benefit of wonderful views over the water.
“All a bit tired”
All a bit tired. Disappointed to get a smoking family room despite booking non-smoking and why are there smoking family rooms anyway? The layout of the room was good with two bedrooms but desperately needed refreshing. The carpet was threadbare although the bathroom was doing ok. Lots of noise during the night from groups of people gathering outside round the back. However breakfast was good and lots of choice.
“Great hotel in a great location”
Our family room was wonderful and spacious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The front desk staff helped us sort out our airline checkin on the internet for over an hour. The hotel is very grand and well-maintained - it exceeded my expectations for a 4 star hotel. The pool area was very nice with a great pool bar. The price with expedia was very reasonable in high season. It was a nice 20 minute walk along the marina promenade into the centre of the city. In the area, there are many nice restaurants, good shopping and historic attractions, such as Belver Castle and the Cathedral. We just came back 2 days ago and wish we were still there!
“What a good hotel”
We stayed at this hotel at the end of August 2011. Was confronted by a beautiful lobby area on arrival. Staff were very accomodating.Room was clean, spacious and catered for most of our needs. Outdoor pool area was impressive although al lthe sunbeds were snapped up before mid day. Didn't go for the breakfast although used the cheaper bistro at the front of the hotel on a couple of occasions which I found to be good value for money. Our room was at the right hand side of the hotel on the third floor. Yes we did hear noise at the weekend from night club revellers. Coffee making facilities and and iron and ironing board would have been beneficial too. Would I stay at this hotel again ? Sure would.
“Definately not 4 star!”
The rooms are badly in need of refurbishment as they are very worn and out of date. The rooms on the back side of the hotel overlook a parking lot so they are particularly depressing. The rest of the hotel, including the pool, spa, gym and lobby, are great. The view of the marina from the pool is very nice. The location is mixed - the seaside promenade and marina across the street from the hotel are lovely but there are lots of tacky bars and restaurants surrounding the hotel. Week-ends are unbearably noisy with drunken parties.
“We made the right choice!”
The Melia was a great hotel and we made the right choice in staying there! (Especially because we visited Palma without a clue of where to stay). The staff was great and super friendly, the beds are amazing, its right in the middle of greats bars, a 10 minute walk along the water gets you to shopping (and its better not to be in the middle of the shopping area). The pool and gym are good, and the price of the hotel is absolutely worth it. Completely recommend this hotel! And Mallorca!
“Nice....clean...convenient”
excellent location right on the waterfront..across the street from the marina. Lots of shopping and restaurants at your doorstep.Nice pool area, beautiful view. We would definately stay there again.
“Good hotel for a short stay”
Stayed at this hotel between 21st May 2011 and 24th May 2011 with 3 friends and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location of the hotel is about 20 minutes walk from the Cathedral; there are a number of restaurants between the hotel and the centre of Palma but the best one's are in the city itself. We paid extra to have breakfast at the hotel and it was well worth the cost. Only used the pool area once but it is a nice area to sit outside; the pool is in shade from about 6:30. One aspect that the hotel can improve on is the cleanliness of the pool itself; there were a number of articles lying on the bottom of the pool which should not have been there. Would recommend this hotel for a short stay but if I was to return to Palma I would stay nearer the Cathedral area.
“Excellent Choice for Palma Visit”
This is a very fine hotel: nicely designed, maintained and operated. The staff displayed a wonderful attitude, clearly committed to customer service. The hotel is very well situated on a waterfront promenade, a short walk from all the major sights, on a very nice stretch of waterfront, with easy access to airport busses and other transit. I would be happy to return to this hotel and strongly recommend it.
“Best View in Town”
We got a bus No 1 from the Airport straight to the hotel. Ask for Auditorium which is only 100m away. 25min journey, every 9 mins at cost of 2 Euros. Hotel was excellent, bar prices reasonable and staff very helpfull. The views of the marina/cathedral from our 5th floor balcony room were breathtaking. Wow. Plenty of good italian restaurants, waterside bistros and breakfast cafes within 200m. Excellent location generally. Cathedral/Town centre a pleasent 15 min walk. Not far from Bellviore ? Castle. Will go back.
