This is a 3 star hotel, that's because it is a bit tatty in places with the paint work chipped here and there. BUT it is a 4 star + in personality and a great sense of humour in every way !! There is James and Molly - the skeletons - that sit on the settee by the lift for instance, there is the wishing tree by the reception, and don't forget the lovely, lovely staff that run this place, without their enthusiasm this hotel would not be what it is today. Happy Harry on Reception, always ready for a chat and to help with any enquiry you have. Then into the dining room where you are welcome with open arms (sometimes literally), by the lovely Mary, Dor and Pedro and their team of tireless helpers. Everyone is so laid back and always ready for a chat. There is no dressing up for the evening, shorts and teashirt is quite accepted. The food is a bit up and down, but that depends on your taste I suppose, but mostly it was fine for us. Breakfast was sometimes cold, but there is a microwave to heat it all up for you. The evening entertainment was very good indeed. Local acts are booked most evenings, and we enjoyed all of them - except the Parrot evening !!
We had a wonderful room on the 4th floor, overlooking the bay, and although we had the busy road beneath us, the room was quiet at night. No need to hire a kettle, drinks machine of various varieties always on tap by the bar.
We hope to revisit next year.
