“5* Lobby but 2* behind the scenes”
It's impressive in the lobby but that's where it ends. The bar area and service although good are definitely overshadowed by the exhorbitant prices - €29.50 for a rum/tonic x 2! Thats $40! Outrageous as is the buffet breakfast at €30 each. Room service is more acceptable if your order is right! The housekeeping attention to detail is shocking too. Rooms appear comfortable until there are 2 of you trying to use the bathroom and you realise its tiny and not very well laid out. I am still at a loss to understand the 5*rating when there is only free wifi for 1 device; no english channels or movies on the tv and no tea coffee making facilities in the room! A shame!!
“Very good hotel - that's why we came back”
I very good hotel - excellent staff and good location - that's why we've been back for a second year.
“Excellent hotel”
For us, the only negative would be the charges for internet where many hotelsoffer free internet in the lobby. Also the hotel bar was highly priced as well.
“An excellent hotel in a first class location”
We have been going to this hotel...and staying in the very same room...for 8 years now. The hotel is excellent and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Some parts of the hotel, such as the room decoration are looking a bit tired and in need of refurbishment, but this is compensated by the very friendly and welcoming staff. The hotel restaurant is expensive and the quality is questionable, so we use the wonderful restaurants which are available in the area...try the Mediterraneo next to Tito's night club...but be sure to go to the restaurant ON THE GROUND FLOOR, not the one above. Sometimes the conference delegates lower the tone of the hotel and can be over boisterous around the swimming pool. But we thoroughly enjoy the Melia Gran Victoria.
“Beautiful hotel but awful view”
We loved our hotel room, it was very comfortable and the beds were great. They also brought in a child bed for our son which was nice. Overall we really liked the hotel and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The only downside was the view from our room was of a wall and if you looked down it was a pit with tubes and wires in it. A little strange, but if you don't look out the window everything else was great.
“Very satisfied and we are already planning another visit.”
Airport bus stops outside. Check in was done efficiently and with a great welcome. Receptionist was helpful with suggestions on what to see/visit.. We were offered an upgrade, at cost? When we saw room we were happy with everything. The only thing we missed was tea making facilities! The size of the room, comfy beds, bathroom goodies were great. We found it was commfortable twenty five minute walk in to the Old Town/Catherdral area. On our return we hope to be able to use the facilities like the pool and spa. We will be back!
“"Excellent hotel"”
Very friendly and accomodating staff. My wife and I were there on our honeymoon and they promptly provided us with a courtesy upgrade. They made our stay very enjoyable. Rooms were beautiful with all amenities. Views were excellent. Location is good, a quick bus ride from all shops and restaurants. Very safe location. Would definitely recommend anyone to stay here! You won't be disappointed.
“Excellent Service.”
Our overwhelming lasting memory of the Gran Melia is the level of service received..Nothing was too much trouble and staff seemed genuinely concerned that we were enjoying ourselves. We've stayed at posher Hotels but the service and attention we received meant that any minor criticisms we had were immediately forgiven! Breakfasts were probably a bit over priced as was the evening meal but again the level of service was such that we were happy to accept and pay for the level of service received. the hotel itself is a little bit tired, the pool area could probably do with a facelift and it does take a bit of time getting your bearings when accessing the pool area but these are minor criticisms when you consider the overall experience. Top tip would be to pay the extra for a seaview-the noise from the disco is minimal. Access to Palma is a ten minute walk along the sealine-don't walk the back way-bit grotty! Eating out you must try TAST-very authentic tapas;also tried La Bodega-good atmosphere;the restaurarnts close to the Cathedral should be treated with caution -busy doesn't mean good eating experience. We will be back at the Gran Melia -a four star Hotel with a Six star level of service.
“Would definitely go back”
This is an excellent hotel, very spacious public areas, and fantastic pool area. We stayed for 10 days in July, and overall it didn't feel busy other than sometimes at the weekend, guests are mixture of nationalities. We booked a room with a sea view which is definitely worth it as other reviews say - the view is superb. Overall service is excellent, especially around the pool, but also nice bar and helpful reception staff. Very comfy beds, air conditioning that works, we had a first floor room and we didn't hear the disco below the hotel at all, contrary to some commentsin other reviews. Breakfast is fantastic, we only did it once given the price, and found great cheaper alternatives nearby, but you should do breakfast on the terrace at least once, overlooking the bay, the view is fantastic, great range of everything you could ever want for breakfast - it is very well done. The gym is outside - only 4 machines, under shade by the pool, but doesn't open til 9/10am, so we didn't use in the heat. We will go back.
“Great Hotel”
Great hotel, great value and great service, one to definitely consider when visiting Palma.
