“Medhufushi resort - recommended”
Medhufushi island resort is excellent for honeymooners like us, the place was truely like paradise. We would definately recommend staying at the water villas; your own private retreat. The 5 star location was great, the staff were helpful and friendly. The food was plenty, varied and spot on. After 6 days both me and the mrs didn't want to come back home! A word of warning though, something that left a bitter taste, everything is extortionately expensive, so be prepared. It starts off as expensive and then then gets an addtional % service charge and % govt tax. The sea plane transfer was very expensive and I was not informed of the cost until checking out; where you pay the full list of expenses during the stay! Take this 5* rate on board though and you will not regret visting this amazing location.
“paradise island”
Much has been written about the coral atolls of maldives, but nothing quite prepares you for the real stuff. The seaplane ride from the airport with barefoot pilots is amazing as we skim over impossibly blue and green ocean and atolls. The hotel was a little gem with truly warm and welcoming staff chosen from around the world. The water villa where we stayed was the stuff odf dreams with the ocean beneath us, our own deck and private access to the lagoon. Food is plentiful and varied. We would love to go back.
“Basic and beautiful”
It's hard to know how to choose between all the islands in the Maldives as so many sound the same...but this island had food that really impressed us, despite being a buffet it hadn't been sitting around for hours and most things were prepared freshly in front of us. The manager was very helpful and sympathetic when James had an allergic reaction to a caterpillar and sent for medicine to arrive by seaplane!! We encountered a funny situation on the last day on check-out...just make sure that you give your key back to the reception on check-out as opposed to leaving it in the room!
“Wish I was still there!”
Island was stunning. Hotel was fantastic and the people are so friendly. If you are looking for a holiday to do nothing except read a book, listen to your iPod, waslk around the island and snorkel this is the island to go to. Loved every minute of it. Would go back in an instant. Also remember if you do travel to the Maldives do go half board, full board or even all-inclusive as it can be very costly but to have the experience, the beauty and such amazing wildlife this is definately a paradise island and a dream holiday.
“Great place for a relaxing holiday”
We stayed in the resort for one week and when we left we both thought that a few days more would have been great. The water villa was wonderful. We had a villa on the "sunrise' side, there is another row of villas on the "sunset" side of the resort. If you are not an early bird maybe the sunset side is better. Most of the evenings we had our meals in de Malaafaiy buffet restaurant which was the cheaper of the two possibilities and in our opinion much better than the a la carte restaurant Al Fresco. One of the evenings we had a romantic beach BBQ which was indeed romantic, but the food was disappointing. The food in the buffet restaurant is excellent and good value for money. No need to bring formal dresses or high heeled shoes because there is very little opportunity to wear them. The dress code is casual; the buffet restaurant has sand on the floor so flip-flops are more comfortable.
“Amazing Experience”
An absolute must if you are looking for a holiday with relaxation as the top priority. We had a water villa and it was fantastic to be able to walk down our own private steps into the crystal clear waters and snorkel amongst the growing coral. The hotel offers free boat trips to the reef for snorkelling and we saw a huge array of marine life. The dolphin watching trip was great. The Werner Lau diving school is so relaxed and we felt part of the family there. The food is amazing with a fantastic choice and the staff completely accommodating and welcoming. They all truly wanted to help and make the holiday. Great facilities, amazing location, Would reccommend to anyone.
“Good Value”
A nice resort, isolated and well maintained, with all promotions offered to us had a very good value. However, two things have to be mentioned: the cost and duration of transfer(so-called seaplane)and lack of nightlife. Seaplane transfer can take one upto 2 hours compared to 45 minutes promised and could cost you upto $400 per person(billed by the hotel, not my the air carrier????). A surcharge could be added to your bill to adjust for cost of fuel, and nothing you can do about it but pay! The food was OK, not impresive for 5 star hotel despite the insentives given (half- board or dinner buffet), particularly breakfast. On top of virtual absence of any night life and entertaintment the average cost of alchoholic bevarage was $ 14, a bottle table wine $34, and a small bottle of cocke frome room bar almoust $8. Water was provided in class bottles, one a day, or $5 in restaurant if ordered. Again, a nice resort with courteous staff, clean accomodation, but far from 5 star. Way overrated! Think more like 3+, 4 star at most. The best activities offered are diving (honeymoon dive was a great value with excellent instructors), deep sea fishing, and spa (dont miss that).
“Not bad for the price”
Good value but I would rate it a 4+ stars, not 5. Our room service tray was left outside our door indefinately, until we would bring it to their attention to remove it. The buffet at dinner time has an awesome selection. It just appeared to me that something was missing to be a solid 5 star, but its hard for me to put a finger on it. Took forever to coordinate with the hotel the sea plane transfers. I received many emails from different staff prior to booking coordinating my arrival, so it was somewhat frustrating. Pool was nice and beach and over the water villas very nice as well. Not sure if its worth the money to be over the water. Showers in beach villas are cool.
“Great Resort”
Long flight and a 40mins seaplane transfer but worth it. Very quiet we only seemed to come across people in the restaurant and bar. Restaurant is buffet style but different theme each night. Worth prebooking half board as there is no where else to eat! No house reef but free daily dhow trips to different reefs. Scuba centre particualrly good worth prebooking to get discounts. Very cosmopolitan people from all over the world. We plan to go back.
“Resort Medhufushi Maldives :”
good hotel , nice island , even if you have not fish and corals in the island , you need to take a boat ( not a long way , max 30 mn ) for snorkling .Arriving nices spots . People are very nice in the island . BUT the tourism in the future should be different , more eco friendly , more in adequation with the local life , see the reality , fishing village ,participate to qomething , save something for example , not to be cut to the Maldives country and their habitants . not to be cut with thereal life of the country .
