“Paradise on Earth”
I chosed this hotel based on other traveleres review. Most reviews clasified it as Excellent and it did not get disapointed. Excellent resort and superb location. Pricey though but this is always the case in The Maldives. I iwll try to return on the earliest available opportunity.
“Absolutely superb”
Fantastic place, perfect for honeymoon! Simply put, the best trip of my life.
“Quality resort but at a cost”
A Luxury resort and that's certainly what you get. The fabric of the place is great and the service and helpful attitude of the staff is exemplary. Excellent breakfasts though the lunch menu's may be a little limited/expensive for some tastes. Evening dining has a good choice of styles and the quality of the food was top notch ... especially the fish/seafood. Wine is not cheap so costs wise it is pretty much like an expensive meal at home .... but remember you'll be doing it everynight. A decent number of activities with Free snorkelling and canoes plus a decent number of activities to fill out your days (certainly for 7 days). Access to the Dhigu island (we were on Veli) allows for a bit of variety but there is no nightlife or even barlife to speak of if that is what you look for.
“Great Diving, Wonderful People, Absolutely Beautiful!”
I traveled alone to Male to go diving in a detour from my business trip to China and Sri Lanka. As a female solo traveler, my main concern was safety. The Anantara caters mostly to couples (families tend to stay at their sister resort Dighu). The staff knew that I was alone and they went out of their way to make me feel safe and welcomed. I absolutely LOVED my experience at the Anantara. The Maldivians are a lovely group of people, warm and grounded. The resort is gorgeous and the diving was amazing. The sealife is diversed and abundant. Being a seasoned diver I rank the Maldives in my top 3 favorite diving spots. The dive staff is very professional and knowledgeable. They group divers based on experience level. The boat was never croweded and most of my dives were alone with my dive master which I utterly enjoyed. The hotel is very peaceful. The perfect place to get away from EVERYTHING and enjoy the beauty of this natural wonder. Even though it was full, I hardly saw people and there was plenty of space for everyone to do their own thing without feeling crowded. If you are looking for nighlife and excitement, neither Anantara nor Male are the place for you. The food is delicious and yes... expensive. But if you are flying all the way there, the last thing to think about is how much things cost. My experience was unforgettable and if I ever get the chance I will go back in a minute. It is paradise!
“Best Vacation Ever!!”
It was the best EVER. The welcome punch was the best and the service was unheard of. It was the best vacation that we had. The Hut was very clean and they came twice a day to ensure things were kept up. Very expense but well worth it
“A Wonderful Place!!”
Anantara Veli exceeded our expectations! The resort was gorgeous! The staff was excellent! We arrived on a Wednesday and they do a weekly meet and greet with the staff, including a free cocktail hour... a very nice touch! The food was a little pricy, but that's to be expected. Main courses ranged from mid $20's to $30's for the most part. Beer was about $8 and mixed drinks $12-$15. There was definitely a variety of places to eat... our favorite being the Thai restaurant- Ban Huraa. The spa was wonderful- worth going to the one on the other island with the see through floor under the massage table. We also did some water sports and a dolphin watch- both of which were great. The resort was maintained extremely well. They did spray for mosquitos pretty frequently. Sometimes it was hard to avoid the areas they were treating, but it's better than getting bit by mosquitos the whole stay. Overall, we had an awesome stay and can't wait to go back!
“Some Vacations are Unforgettable”
This place is heaven! I still dream about it. Get your scuba certification and prepare to be pampered. I got engaged here. Basically you get three resort in one and a good amount of privacy. Drinks are expensive but they have to import everything. Once in a lifetime. Don't think just book it.
“Terrible Service for a five star hotel”
After a great stay at three other 4-5 star Maldive hotels with impeccable service. We found Anantara to be severly lacking in comparison. You have to call at least 5 times for any request to be fulfilled. A broken phone was never replaced during our stay and the A/C continued to leak water w/o maintenance ever arriving. The attitude of staff was dismal with no smiles and the beach was riddled with garbage. This was the first beach in Maldives for us to find sandals and other garbage during snorkeling. The arrival and departure itinierary was never made clear and had to call multiple times for bellboy to deliver/pick-up luggage. The food was also not very good and pricey. Hotel aware of need for late check out for big group of 10 and promised this to be of no problem. However backed out of promise at last minute without consulting with us. Hotel intended to leave our group without any rooms and had to fight with staff for at least one room available for 10 people to rest until time of late check out. Very poor service overall for a 5 star hotel especially after experiencing the great services and food at the other islands.

Area:
South Male Atoll, Maldives: South Male has a distinctly remote and less populated feel than its northern neighbour. Some of the best dive sites incorporate caves, sunken vessels, and protected marine areas. And for non-divers, snorkelling is on offer in the clear waters of a number of reef tops and edges if the currents are favourable. In addition, key surf breaks have been identified, with the best waves recorded from May-November and March-April. Several of the previously uninhabited islands now host luxury resorts.
