“Very clean and comfortable”
Stayed here for a week's holiday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Having seen some favourable and some not so favourable reviews, I was fairly open minded, but enjoyed the room and the location. On arrival, the hotel is directly opposite the train station with regular service to the airport (and out to the beaches at Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola). Check in was smooth and the room comfortable, cleaned daily, very friendly staff. Wifi didn't seem to be available in the room, but was available in the corridor and hotel lobby for those who wish. A 15 minute stroll into the centre takes you to the centre for tourist attractions and restaurants, although there are plenty to choose from on the way into town. Walking back home from an evening meal affords you the luxury of a little nightcap at one of the bars en route if the walk seems too long also. Malaga beach is only 10 minutes walk from the hotel and is attractive for its reasonable beach and fabulous chiringuitos all along the seafront: perfect day or night for some very fresh and tasty seafood. Would happily choose this hotel on my next trip to Malaga.
“Close to train station”
This is a very nice modern hotel, right down the street from the train station, so if you plan to use the train, its a great place to stay. It is a little far from the center, a taxi ride away. The staff were very helpful, and spoke English. I had to change rooms twice, since one was too far away and another was too close to construction noise, and this was not a problem for staff, who were very accomodating. The breakfast buffet was great. The neighborhood has a grocery store very near by but otherwise not too interesting. In all , I would recommend it. but not for visiting the heart of the city due to location.
“Perfect for Train & Bus Station”
This was a very nice, quiet clean hotel of an excellent standard at a very reasonable price, very close to both the train & bus station which was perfect for us. The reception staff were very smart and courteous. Our room was at the back of the hotel and over looked by a scruffy apartment block which had washing hanging from windows however, there were thick curtains to close and we were only there for one night and of course someone has to use those rooms. The room was very comfortable and clean with all that you needed. Large bed with clean linen and mini bar. Tea making facility would have been nice but there is a cafeteria near reception, we would have liked to have been able to make a cup of tea or coffee before we left for the airport. The large bathroom was excellent, with some nice comestics, the only thing to let it down was a cracked toilet seat and the edge around the bath where it meets the tiles had black mould, a bit of extra house keeping would solve this very easily. It did just spoil the clean look of the bathroom. We would certainly use this hotel again, and would recommend it.
“Good Location. Good Service.”
The best part of this hotel is the location, it is only a 2 minute walk from the train station and about 20 minute walk from downtown. The service at the front desk was outstanding, they were very helpful to us. The rooms were clean although the bathroom looked a little worn. However, since the price we paid was so reasonable, there's really nothing to complain about.
“lovely hotel although out of centre of town”
Very clean hotel, comfortable beds, nice free toiletries. There are a couple of nice traditional nearby bars but it is quite a walk to the town centre. However it is very close to the train station.
“Need English Speaking Staff”
Good hotel, good service, good breakfast. But very limited disposible paper products. Bathroom had no facial tissues. Also no coffee pot. Very strange as these are a must in every USA hotel. No microwave as well. How do we get our morning coffee. Had to wait until 7.30 am that is when they serve breakfast. So I wish we had earlier breakfast and/or at least coffee pots in the room.
“would have been perfect if air conditionning had been working”
this hotel deserves good marks for excellent service, cleanliness, excellent buffet breakfast, but a bad mark for having an old fashion, centrally controlled heating/air conditionning system. It is a one way system : heat in winter, then it is converted into a air conditionning in summer; so in between, when spring days are hot, you sweat and suffer. Many hotels in Spain have this archaic system. We chose the hotel because it is close to the bus station; however, there is a huge metro construction on site and it was a nightmare to find our way to the hotel which is now farther than it was before they started digging the streets around the station. Nevertheless, the price we paid during the 5 days we were there was decent and we would go back, for the same price!
“A Good Choice for Semana Santa Week in Malaga”
The Silken Puerta Malaga was clean with beautiful public areas. It was rated a 4 star hotel, but our room was very basic. The hotel was near the train and bus station mall so we had easy access to transportation and dining choices for lunch. Usually we ate dinners at local places in the city. We stayed at the hotel in early April. During the late afternoon it became very warm in the room, and we had difficulty finding out how to regulate the temperature (that may have been our fault for not understanding how the thermostat worked). Some pluses of the hotel were the Wifi Internet access that was included with the price of the room and hotel parking for our car that was inside at a nearby garage, which was connected by an underground access. The reasons to stay at this hotel are location, cleanliness, Internet access, and easy parking. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. We felt that the price we paid was very good considering the quality of the hotel and the fact that it was a major holiday week.
“"Nice but not great"”
The hotel has non smoking floors but allow people to smoke in the rooms, which is silly because the room stinks of stale smoke. Therefore ask for a room that is smoke-free. Hotel staff is very helpful to change rooms for you. The Hotel only has one computer for internet use. It was not working whilst we were there. It was only discovered that it was broken when I tried to use it.
“Convenient, clean and comfortable!”
The hotel didn't have extra frills but was a good, clean and useful base especially with the closeness to the main railway station linking to many interesting destinations. I didn't take the breakfast option, but loads of places for a snack en route to the centre or in the station concourse.
