“Very Good, Efficient and Friendly Hotel”
We don't normally do reviews preferring to leave that kind of thing to others. However, having read mixed reviews on this hotel after booking, it made us rather twitchy and we were slightly apprehensive. We needn't have worried as it turned out because we could find nothing much to whinge about. The staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. The room (side sea view) was clean and tastefully decorated. The breakfasts were excellent and over our weeks stay (3-10 Nov 2011), we had three dinners which were really very good. The grounds were immaculate with lots of facilities. Free public parking outside. The exterior walls of the hotel could do with a lick of paint in places but other than that......no complaints whatsoever. Would definately recommend.
“Lovely short break”
Lovely hotel, breakfast was good choice but if you book through expedia only pay for continental breakfast as that is the buffet breakfast and there is no difference-just a money making scheme! Snack bar was good quality and tasty food. The swimming pools were cool but lovely and refreshing. The room was of high standard and includes free use of the safe. The cleaners were polite and friendly. The evening entertainment is not designed for children and more suited to the mature adult. It was excellent location, about a 10 minute walk to the main strip of restaurants and shops in puerto banus, a 1 minute walk to the beach. I would definitely recommend to others and return again for another short break or even a longer summer holiday.
“The Unlevel Level”
We were hoping to enjoy the same facilities in THE LEVEL here as we did in Melia Alicante. However here no alcoholic drinks are availble, there is no quiet outside area, and you are excluded from the lovely facilities if you wish to use the facilities (although limited) in THE LEVEL. The staff are great, the food excellent but in our opinion the facilities offered by THE LEVEL should be the same throughout the Melia group, and not vary
“Very Satisfied, will return with our sons.”
Great location close to beach but in a quiet area so no sleep disturbance. No risk to personal posessions as there was a safe in the room so retreat to the beach with just your swimsuit. Room ready on arrival; pleasant and courteous staff.
“"very sophisticated"”
We came on a long weekend for my birthday. The hotel was very upmarket, relaxing and chilling, although we did come at the beginning of October so were not in the peak weeks. The facilities were fantasic. There was a wellness centre, although I didn't take advantage of this as felt very chilled anyway. The pool area and the reception staff were extremely helpful. The hotel was in a lovely area away from the harbour but a nice distance to walk off lunches and dinners! (about a 5 to 10 minute walk to the harbour). Just outside the hotel was a lovely river where I assume you could fish if you wished. The beach and sea were a few yards away (lovely clean beach with plenty of sunbeds and not overcrowed at all). We had lunch on the beach in the day and in the evening would stroll up to the harbour where we had our evening meal. Although the food can be pricey near the harbour, we stuck to a main meal and a bottle of wine without a starter or desert and it was fine. Be careful when paying for your bill because when they bring out the bread and after dinner liquers that you don't ask for, they charge for them. We never had a bad meal out. You can walk to Marbella or cycle there (you can hire bikes at the hotel). We walked to Marbella one day (stopping off on the way for refreshments!!) and then caught a boat back to Puerto Banus. Overall this is the best weekend away I have ever had and will definitely be coming back next year.
“well worth a stay”
only crititcism would be tv channels!
“Amazing”
Thoroughly recommended to one and all. Great hotel, helpful staff, comfortable and clean room with pillows to die for. The breakfast is wonderful and the location is very convenient. Look no further if you need to relax for a few days. We will be coming back.
“Not impressed at all.”
Having stayed in Sol Melias before, I was happy to go with the brand even though the hotel is supposed to be 4 star. From the moment, we parked outside to unload bags, we quickly established that this wasn't a true 4 star Hotel. The bell person watched my wife struggle unloading the bags as I went to check in. The front desk looked to be unhappy in their work and just going through the motions. We then couldn't have a key as the card coder was out of action, although we got them after half an hour. The room was filthy and the safe didn't work. The pool area staff were quite nice. We sunbathed on the grassed area, however, it was quite disgusting having to tip toe through cigarette ends. Lunch of chicken salad was very poor and expensive with just a trace of chicken. This was eaten on the first day and we didn't consume anything there for the next 3. We checked out a day earllier to stay somewhere else. We didn't bother to complain as I had read similar reviews. I thought the reviews maybe an over reaction as they can some times be, so gave the benefit of the doubt. In hindsight similar reviews of the hotel are very accurate. I've stayed in many hotels worldwide, and I've never been so dissapointed with the cleanliness and welcome regardless of the star. I'd like to add that most of the staff seemed miserable in an unhappy camp, so it must be a managment issue.
“Quality Hotel”
A relaxed, high-standard hotel. Decent location, short walk to the beach or in to the centre of Banus. Rooms were large and clean. Breakfast was substantial and of a good standard. Good value for money. Only disappointed they were unable to extend the check-out past 12pm.
“Excellent Hotel & Location to Puerto Banus Nightlife”
Great hotel, great location. Only 10-15mins stroll to the Puerto Banus town centre. Clean, spacious and friendly. The pool area is a little quiet and could do with some relaxing music or activities like water areobics but apart from that no complaints at all.
