“Perfect for girls chilled out weekend”
Hotel is right on the beach, with beautiful turquoise pool and loads of wooden sunbeds with cushions and fluffy towels. Hotel bar and restaurant are smart and contemporary in style. The restaurant overlooks the beach. There is also a beach bar and restaurant which were not yet open for the season. Clientele are a mix of groups of golfing buddies and couples. Quite quiet and sedate, and middle aged in mood. There were four of us who were there to chill and celebrate a 50th birthday. We loved the Spa and used the thermal circuit, but didn't book any treatments as quite expensive. Hotel staff were delightful - friendly and helpful. We only took breakfast, which was extensive. Loads of fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals, breads and pastries, and hot food. Hotel is about one hours drive from Malaga, and you really need a car to get out and about to restaurants and visitng places of interest.
“Relaxing half term break”
Guadalmina is a beautiful high quality hotel in lovely gardens. It proved difficult to find due to road works on the A7 which apparently have been ongoing for a couple of years but once inside the hotel grounds all was calm and quiet. We had a superior sea view room which was huge and very comfortable. The standard of cleanliness and service was excellent. We only had bed and breakfast and were glad we had hired a car as there was nowhere to eat within walking distance. We tried the evening buffet in the hotel and that was enjoyable and reasonable value. My husband loved the fact that the hotel was right on the golf course and the hotel staff were able to book games at all the nearby courses. In spite of it being half term there were very few children around and it was always possible to get a sunbed by the pool.Great weather meant we had a fab holiday and would return again.
“Great for a short sunny break”
Booked this trip as a short break in the sun. Perfect for relaxing by the pool in a lovely beach-side location. Pool is gorgeous and even though hotel was pretty much at capacity the pool wasnt busy at all with most people coming and going not staying all day. The food and drink in the hotel is very expensive. 40cl bottle of water E3, dinner in the restaurants is alot too. we bought water and snacks from the hypermarket in Banus and kept in the mini bar fridge and there was no problem with that. Staff were friendly. Location is great - was perfect for us but you need to put cabs into your budget... E10 each way to Banus from the hotel. Fabulous for people watching and good range of restaurants. Would definetely go back.
“Very satisfied”
4 star plus The extras are expensive. It is on the beach - and large pool area - but in an upmarket urban area - so you need a car to get anywhere- especially if you want to go out to eat- go shopping - etc Bedrooms great - but the most convenient are on the ground floor
“Excellent place to relax and chill out and play Golf”
Not clear why this hotel is not 5 star hotel. It is probably 5-10 years old but very clean and well preserved. Nice swimming pool on the beach. Breakfast is superb. Spetacular see views. Room is made up twice a day and towels changed twice a day as well. Restaurant is good, price is not cheap though. Staff very helpful. Eight min drive from Porta Banus (night life) and 15 min from Marbella centre (Shopping). We'll definitely go back again.
“Good value, lovely location and great facilities”
Not the warmest of welcomes but efficiently dealt with. Clean, well equipped, spacious rooms with a lovely pool and direct access to the beach. Good buffet breakfast with curt service but an abundance of food. Great facilities and at the rate we booked, fantastic value for money. Hire car or taxi required for eating/drinking off site but good food at hotel. Very nice walk along the beach to San Pedro - approx. 40 mins.
“Can't wait to go back”
After reading previous reviews we were a bit worried about the breakfasts, no need plenty of choice and great food. The views from the hotel were fantastic. Also found all the staff extremly helpfull.
“Lovely place!!!”
We really enjoyed the time there! Excellent hotel conditions with superb rooms and good service!
“Great Find just outside of Peurto Banus”
Just back from Hotel Guadilmina and it's hard to find anything bad to say about it. The buffet breakfast was great, the food at the restaurants was very good, loads of fresh seafood and the sangria was amazing. There is a massive pool and the resort is right on a great stretch of beach. There are plenty of beach and poolside loungers, the only tip I would say is get up early if you want the loungers on the deck which is between the pool loungers and the beach loungers, these seem to be the most popular with the guests. By early, I mean 9am, people usually just went and put a magazine on a lounger and then went back to bed or to breakfast. Over the first couple of days, I was waiting for something to disappoint me, but the longer we were there, the more impressed we were with the place. It never seemed crowded, the golf course was very nice and the location is great. You probably need a car if you want to go into town, but Peurto Banus was a 10 Euro Taxi ride, so it wasn't that big of deal. We rented a car from Malaga Airport and it took about an hour to get to the resort. Peurto Banus is worth a visit and much nicer than Marbella, but more expensive. Still restaurants were no more than the UK. Overall, extremely satisfied. Ask for a room overlooking the pool, it has great views out to the beach as well.
“Great hotel, but...”
The hotel was great. The buffet breakfast excellent quality with lots of choice (the bacon was uncooked but that's always the case over most of the Continent, just leave it, like the tea). Two other minor points: the large swimming pool was a touch cold for me but anything that's not actually steaming is, and, the beach is mainly grey shingle and shell at the waters edge, not a problem for me but could disappoint some. The hotel location for those that do not know it, could be a problem. If you want to avoid very expensive taxis, a car is absolutely essential in order to visit Marbella centre, Estepona and the surrounding country side. Also, at the present time there are extensive road works along the main road A7 / N340 at the exits for the hotel and it can be fraught getting on and off. We really enjoyed our second stay at this hotel but for some couples (not golfers) the location could be a drawback. Anyone wanting to stay a really nice quiet hotel with excellent service and just soak up sun by the pool or beach without moving or going into Marbella to eat, would be happy. Not a kiddy in sight at this time of the year.
