“Happy ahoneymoon”
This was our 2nd visit to Don Carlos this year, this time for our honeymoon. Very helpful & happy checkin staff. Room was lovely, clean & in very good condition. The beach club is lovely & so relaxing. Perfect honeymoon, we can't wait to go back. 10/10
“Want to go back!”
We had a hard time leaving this property to go see the sites in Spain... Property was amazing, and the beach club would work so hard to keep you comfortable, you will not want to leave. I will definitely go back and stay here again!
“A beautiful hotel and amazing service”
The Hotel is wonderful and the grounds are beautiful. We were only there for a few days to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and this was the perfect place to relax and be pampered without the kids! The staff are really friendly and attentive. The Beach Club is lovely and although rather pricey it was well worth it. We had a great massage in the Spa as well as a free massage round the pool. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone!
“The Don of Marbella”
We arrived on Friday lunchtime for a relaxing weekend & thats exactly what we got. From the moment we arrived we found all of the staff very polite & extremely helpful. The room was very nice, comfortable & clean. We went straight out to the pool at the back of the hotel & saw a sign for the beach club. A few minutes walk down a windy path through lovely gardens brought us to the most amazing setting next to the beach. We were greeted by a really polite & friendly member of staff. Normal sun loungers were free but also there were 4 poster sun beds which are approx 2 metres square for hire for 40 euros per day. This was great & was so comfortable & relaxing. A complimentary fruit juice & fruit was served to us in the afternoon. There are waiters to bring you drinks & food to your sun beds. In the evening we found a Thai restaurant in the gardens which served fantastic food, again by very polite staff. We loved our stay at Don Carlos, very relaxing & 5 star service. Can't wait to go back.
“Fantasic Grounds”
The hotel is about 10 miles from Marbella and further away from Banus which we like to stay. Having said that, the grounds and the beach are absolutely fantastic, the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly and breakfast was good. However, although they said they have renovated the hotel in 2006, it looked a little dated and we saw some stains on the carpets and what not. It does not deserve the 5 stars even with European standards.
“wonderful hotel...would go back”
room was modern. bathroom clean but bathroom handle broke. hotel was quick to fix. Good wake up calls. Good recommendations on restaurants. Need car for this hotel. Marbella is too far and would have been expensive without a car. Large pool was being renovated and hotel did not compensate or offer an upgrade. Gardens were beautiful. Nickki Beach was rocky and hard to get into and out of water due to rocks. Morning Buffet was excellent. Lunch and Dinner did not like food such as pasta or hamburgers. I would rate this hotel a 4 star.
“Lovely hotel - will go again”
My husband and I stayed at the Don Carlos on my "babymoon" and we had a lovely holiday. For European standards, this hotel is a 5 star. (5 star hotels in the Far East, South Asia and the US tend to be more luxurious and modern.) The building looks a bit tired from the outside, but inside is a different story. Our room was clean and well-maintained and the beds were super comfortable. The lobby, pool area and gardens were beautiful. We spent most of our days on the private beach, which was the best part of our trip. The service was great. Yes, the food and drinks are a bit expensive, but not unusual for what you would expect at a five star hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The internet, DVD player and sun beds at the beach club were free. (Next door at Nikki Beach, the sub beds are 25 Euros per person.) We had lunch at Nikki Beach during one of the Sunday beach parties and that was fun. The hotel is a 15 minute drive to Old Town Marbella and about 25 mins to Puerto Banus. I would definitely recommend hiring a car when you visit Marbella - their is one main road and directions are easy to follow. There is a supermarket just minutes from the hotel, which was convenient to pick up snacks and water, etc. The purpose of our holiday was to relax on the beach and eat good food - and we were able to do that at the Don Carlos. We will definitely stay here again.
“Don Carlos-Marbella”
The hotel was nice and clean. The food was good and the service was extraordinaire. Personally, it has the feel of a large resort but I prefer a smaller boutique hotel. That is the only downside of this place. I would not stay there again.
“Lovely hotel and great beach club”
We had lovely holiday, and was surprised the hotel was so quiet - which was not necessarily a bad thing. Also quite expensive, so better to eat elsewhere.. Would recommend though!
