“easy from the airport”
I picked this hotel because of its location---it is not right in the centre of Malaga but the airport train goes to the main railway station and this hotel is adjacent to the station. It is a short bus ride to the city centre and a short taxi ride to the port . Although the hotel just has city views (or even views of the station) it was quiet confortable and clean with a good breakfast.
“great hotel!”
i was in group of 11 people, stayed in "barcelo" for three days. beautiful hotel, very convenient location, helpful staff, i would rate it 11 of 10 as well as the rest of the group! i am very, very happy with our choice!
“Convenience and Comfort”
While we only stayed in Malaga one night (late afternoon flight arrival from the States - and off to our next destination in the morning), we were totally pleased with the Barcelo Malaga. It was so convenient to walk out of the baggage area of the Malaga airport, across to the train station and catch the very reasonably priced train to Maria Zambrano train station. There is an entrance to the hotel in the station - just to your right after you exit the station turnstyles. The staff was very helpful - providing a map to the city center. It was an easy walk to the center of Malaga and the harbor - we enjoyed the tapas and beer - and the walk through the harbor area. Back to the hotel for a much needed night of sleep (can't get much sleep on the airplane) - the bed was the most comfortable we found during our two week stay in Spain and Portugal. We enjoyed the variety of the food available at the buffet breakfast and then a quick walk to the bus station - and off to our next stop in Spain (Granada). We were glad to have purchased our bus tickets the day before - as the bus was sold out (just a hint for travelers using the bus system).
“Stay Elsewhere”
This hotel is off the beaten path in Malaga. If you only need an place to sleep and shower this would work, but not for the money being charged. The hotel is a 20-25 mins walk to the Centro, through what appears to be a rough part of town. The internet service at the hotel was shoddy at best. Had issues logging on with my laptop and Ipad, eliminating any concern that it was my machine. The sugguestion from their front desk, "try stealing another wifi connection". Our TV in our room did not work. The remote control was broken, and could not get to any of the English channels. When I called the front desk to assist, the manager came up to our room at 10:20pm to try himself. After numerous attempts, he said "technology is my strenght". Stay somewhere else. Out of all of our stays this was by far the worst!!
“Service was very good.”
Goood!
“Fantastic!!”
Loved the hotel. The location was great, next to the train station. There was even shopping at the train station. The staff were very friendly and helpful!
“Great Hotel”
The upsides are VERY long: comfort, design, friendly, clean, quiet. There is only 1 downside (and that's not a major one) the location isn't the best for exploring the city. That said, it's not exactly an impossible hike - 10 minutes - 15 in you amble. HOWEVER, the hotel totally under-sells it's restaurant. The service and food are AMAZING. Hotel restaurants are rarely known for their food but this one really must be tried. It's GREAT.
“Funky Hotel in Malaga”
The hotel was very funky in design and atmosphere. The room was spacious and it had the best bathroom I have ever seen! Although it was at a train station I did not hear a single train or noise at all. The hotel restaurant is also amazing, very quite the night we went but the food was delicious! i would highly recommend this hotel as the staff were very helpful.
“Great Hotel in Malaga”
This is a very nice, modern hotel right next door to the train station in Malaga. Great location for travelers, we only stayed 2 nights before heading to the south of Spain for the holiday. This was the best hotel we stayed in while visiting Spain. Clean room with a great shower!!!
“You couldn't beat it for the price.”
We only had time for a short two night break so I booked this hotel because of the excellent price and it's convienient location in the train station. The hotel is modern and stylish, the staff are friendly and the rooms comfortable and clean.. The shopping centre adjoining the hotel is very nice so, despite a day of heavy rain, we could find food and drink without venturing out. Malaga itself is a lovely city, well worth a visit. The only downside, and this applies throughout Spain, is that the exchange rate makes drinking and eating out a bit pricey. All in all, despite the rain, a lovely break and I would definately go again.

Malaga, Spain: One of Spains biggest ports and the provincial capital, Malagas city centre has undergone a major facelift in recent years to attract many tourists who would usually pass straight to the local resorts. The historic centre features narrow streets surrounding the iconic lopsided cathedral. Plaza Merced is the birthplace of artist Pablo Picasso. Above it all sits the hilltop fortress of the Alcazaba.
