“Overpriced”
The staff was very nice, the hotel was extremely well maintained. The most uncomfortable bed, hard as a rock, and the linens were rough feeling. pool was not open and had to pay extra for the internet. Also a fee for the hot tub. Hotel is located in very upscale shopping area and everything in the area is set to that standard. Would not stay again. Had to travel several miles to see sights and museums.
“Excellent, but you pay for everything”
Great location and wonderful old world hotel with beautiful rooms, but you pay a high price for internet access and breakfast.
“perfect location”
We could access all the turist sites and important museums easily with a short walk. There were outstanding restaurants close by. There were outdoor cafes with excellent food within walking distance. It was in the fashion district so shopping was very entertaining with quality shops as opposed to tourist traps. We could get to the central park El Pargque de Buen Retiro quickly on foot and enjoy the ambiance of this friendly, Spanish city. Weekends in the park are especially fun if you want to get a feel for the people who live there. The staff was bilingual and eager to please in every way. Not at all snooty. They made restaurant reservations, guided us with maps to all the places we wanted to go. Very elegant hotel,.
“" A perfect stay " Felt like home, did not want to live.”
excellent location to shops and restaurants, right on "calle Velazquez" 15 min walk to "El prado museum" and 3 minutes to "parque el retiro", that says it all. Service was that of a 5 star hotel, always glad to help or go the extra mile to make you feel at home. The concierge service was always available for restaurant reservations, directions or anything else that you need. The room was good size and the beds very comfortable..........Have to say that I stay in the renovated part of the hotel, so make sure you check with the hotel wich area is your room at .................All in all "a perfect stay"
“Wonderful experience”
Perfect location and very friendly staff made our stay in Madrid unforgettable. Strongly recommend it.
“Beautiful and Comfortable Hotel”
The hotel was lovely - clean, comfortable and quiet. Loved the double-door entry for extra quietness. The hotel is conveniently located to the park and subway that will get you anywhere you need to be. I would definitely stay there again upon a return visit!!
“Comfortable bed”
This is the first hotel we've stayed in in Europe with a comfortable bed. The hotel was nice, but only had travel and restaurant recommendations that were very upscale. We spent a few nights looking for just some local food and traveling in the metro, which was very close. This was a very upscale neighborhood!
“Very Happy”
The previous reviews seemed to be pretty accurate. Great location for shopping, art galleries etc. Staff were very helpful, spoke excellent english. Bullfighters were present in the hotel, in full costume on one of the days. Seemed to be a very busy place, especially around 5 to 6 o'clock in the bar. Room service was good, but no comments on the restaurant - as I couldn't find it and eat out in any case. Same for breakfast. Not the best 5 Star hotel I've been to, but reasonably priced and good value.
“Best stay in Madrid”
A definite must when in Madrid. A chelsea, kensington feel....but walking distance to old town.
“Expect better for a 5 star”
Good hotel in a great location.Staff at reception were helpful and very friendly. Room was ok, bit below par for a 5 star though. Food in the a la carte resteraunt was poor and very expensive. Entry fee of €20 for the spa was a bit of a rip off especailly as the pool and hot tub were closed. Should have been free entry for hotel guests.

Salamanca - Serrano, Madrid, Spain: North of the Retiro, Salamanca has always been an affluent neighbourhood. Its grid-like streets and beautiful houses sprang up at the end of the 19th century, escaping from the old city walls. Today, ladies who lunch drop into its spas and designer shops, many of which line the long, sleek Calle Serrano. The National Library and the Museum of Archaeology are close to the Plaza de Colón.
