“Charming "real Madrid"”
In planning my trip to Madrid, I wanted to be closer to the people of Madrid, eat in the restaurants they frequented, etc., and Suite Prado really fit the bill. I loved the neighborhood "feel", the amazing small cafes and the really cool small specialty shops I found nearby. (Be sure to check out handmade porcelain at Cacharreria.) The hotel staff was exceptional. Friendly and ready to assist with all requests - especially with very helpful with directions around the city! My double room was spacious, clean and included a sitting room and small kitchenette which was handy to have. The bathroom was huge and very nice. A couple helpful notes for light sleepers: ask for an inside room away from the street, and because the hotel staff start their breakfast services early for guests, there is some noise from the 4th floor kitchen (walking around, dishwasher running, etc.), you might inquire about a 2nd floor suite. Overall, a wonderful place to stay while visiting beautiful Madrid!
“Ideal Location”
I chose this hotel because of the price and what looked like convenient location (according to Google Maps) to Puerta del Sol, El Retiro Park, Plaza Mayor and Palace Real. On this trip with my boyfriend, we didn't realize exactly how perfect the location was until we arrived. All of these spots were just a short walk from the hotel, and there were plenty of restaurants to choose from in the area too! (Check out La Trucha on the same street...delicious.) We had a beautiful large room, and the people at the front desk were always friendly and gave great recommendations. We were there on a Wednesday-Sunday, and the only night we had a little trouble sleeping was on Saturday because of the noise of the people on the streets (and our room was on the 5th floor). Now that I think about it, we probably should have just joined them and had one last wild night in Madrid. This hotel made for a wonderful experience in Madrid, and if I make it back to the city I will definitely try to stay here.
“A centrally located gem”
A great little place if you like the idea of a boutique suite at a great price compared with many hotels. Great to have your own kitchenette and lounge. Very friendly and helpful staff, providing a homely feel to the place. Centrally located within walking distance of all major Madrid attractions/barras. Surrounded by a great selection of bars, cafes and restaurants that aren't necessarily full of tourists! Only negative point was the need for basic kitchen cleaning items e.g. dish cloth, washing-up liquid and tea towels. Will definitely stay again and will recommend to friends/family of all ages.
“Weekend Away”
Excellent apartment hotel. Very friendly, excellent size rooms. Location couldn't be better for historic centre and galleries. Good bars and restaurants close by for b'fast through to Diner. Only 30 mins from airport in Metro with two changes.
“Good location and large rooms for a great price”
I was pleasantly surprised to see how big these rooms were compared to the others I stayed in in Spain. The suite had a large living room with kitchen, a large bedroom with a balcony, and a bathroom. The staff was super friendly and gave us great restaurant recommendations. They offered to call a taxi for us to go to the airport without us even asking. The location is really convenient too. I would definitely recommend this place!
“The real Madrid”
Huge room, service excellent, fabulous location in the middle of downtown Madrid surrounded by many restaurants and stores. It is very close, short walking distance to the main attractions in town, Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Alcala Street, and La Gran Via. Well connected by Bus and Subway. The best feature is the excellent attention in the front desk, they will try very hard to make your stay as pleasant as possible- The room includes a kitchen, a large living room, TV, internet, air conditioned,in a small street, that you can only locate with a GPS, but is a large part of it's charm, and make's you feel like a local instead of as a tourist. The best place to blend into the spirit of the city..
“Great Hotel, Location and Rooms”
Had a great stay here. Great location for business and leisure, in the heart of the old town.
“Terrific location and size of room”
This hotel is located exactly where any tourist would want to be when visiting Madrid. The room/suite was spacious as billed, but the ambience of the room was a little old. Lovely view of old madrid streets from the balcony windows and great restaurants surrounding it.
“Boutique hotel in great location”
Tiny boutique hotel in a perfect location just off Santa Anna Square, with many restaurants, theaters and antique shops. Shopping also nearby. Walking distance to Prado Museum and Thyssen Bornemisa. Public parking (under the square) is 28 euro a day. Small historic building with modern interiors. Spacious rooms for Madrid standards. Not easy to find, since it is on a traffic-free alley. Park under Santa Anna Square and walk South-East.
“Noisy--Not for professional travelers or families”
This hotel is listed as 4 stars which is by far a big misrepresentation. Features of our experience (JUne 2010): Positive: (1) Location is good if you like noisy (th-Su nights till 7 am.) and lively access to downtown Madrid (not good for families w/kids or people go to bed not later than 2 am.). Very close to Subway Negative: (0) had a large room in the 4th floor- minimalist furniture. 1 "picnic" table served as desk and TV stand at once. Only local TV stations (news/shopping).(1) Offers Wireless internet...with the quality of Dial-Up, terribly slow, and it would work only on a corner of the room--very inconvenient.(2) No business facilities.(3) Staff inefficient and, for the most part, too young to do the job. They "mumble" English. They were not unfriendly but never knew anything when asked, or information was vague. (4) Safety box is an euphemism. A small key that needs to be collected from the front desk--they do not say anything until one realizes that the safety is not working. We spent 7 night there, and could not get the key til day 4, upon multiple requests. We even "reserved" one --hotel did not have enough keys and blamed customers for losing them (?!). When asked on day 3 (for the 4th time) they said that they did not keep our reserved key because we did not ask for it the day before (?!). We got upset, the next day got a key. (5) Kitchenette has no cleaning essentials (dryer, soap), dishes were not washed by housekeeper. (6) No airport shuttle as announced here.
