Posada del Leon de Oro is a very cute hotel with updated amenities. We were able to enjoy a buffet made to order breakfast for a very reasonable price. We walked all around Gran Via, Palacio Real and Plaza Real which were all very close proximity.

This hotel concept is great. It offers the basic needs of a hotel without being overpriced. Quiet room, excellent shower pressure and great location. The breakfast option is reasonable €13/per person. My only suggestion would be larger coffee cups at the breakfast place for those who like a large cup of coffee. I do recommend it!

Property was clean and well maintained. We didn’t get to utilize the restaurant since we were there days it wasn’t open but there are tons of restaurants around, including several tapas bars on the block. The room was very comfortable and spacious. It can get a little loud late at night because of the bars but wasn’t terrible. Hotel is also pretty centrally located and within walking distance to several attractions including San Miguel Mercado. I also walked to Parque de Retiro in about 20 minutes! Would stay here again for another Madrid visit for sure.

Oldie but goodie.
Stayed here 7 years ago, great location, close to fabulous places to eat & drink. Reception not there all the time but very nice people. No coffee/tea service in the room or lobby. None til 8 am next door. But nice big bed & pillows, lotsa towels. No English tv channel.

Stayed here 7 years ago & love the location. Got a nice large room. BUT no coffee/tea service in the room, not even in the lobby, gotta go next door for breakfast after 8. No English language on TV, not even BBC. Good bed, big bath towels.

The room and hotel were really wonderful! Such a gorgeous old building with a very modern perfectly clean room and incredibly friendly staff. Perfect stay thank you very much! The restaurant was closed when we stayed (Monday, Tuesday) so it may have been a little noisy on the evenings if the restaurant had been open.

Small, efficient, clean. Favorite style of hotel!
From our past experience, the room is small but very efficiently laid out. The main drawback was the smells coming from the street and kitchen(s). In this heat they can be painful. Staff is excellent, breakfasts are great. The room is *very* clean. I love the hotel just had a problem with the smells layering into Calle Baja

Generally great location for me. La Latina is a great area for me. Really like it. (Make sure try to knock and call if you don’t go during restaurant hours. The hotel staff is tugged away.) Also, no iron and ironing board but I don’t need it fir this trip anyways.

Small, compact and cosy hotel in the heart of Madr
Most happening area of Madrid full of life. Hotel looked recently renovated. Very old property well designed. If you're looking for large and spacious rooms this is not the hotel for you. But if you are looking for a comfortable stay and a warm and hospitable team, with all highlights walking distance, definitely recommend this place

This hotel is absolutely lovely. Really enjoyed our stay here. It's in the perfect location to spend the weekend exploring Madrid & ideal if you want to be in the hub of restaurants & bars. Loved our room too. The balcony was very Spanish and I enjoyed standing out there, watching the world go by. The bed was very comfortable, with extra pillows if you wanted them. The shower was perfect. There was plenty of space, & the style of the room was very modern. If I had to give one negative, it's the noise. Now, the outside noise is addressed by sound proofing & if you use the shutters that's an extra layer too so you only hear it as a murmur in the background. The noise from the restaurant though (& the cleaners in the morning), can't be drowned out unless you put the TV on (normal volume does the trick). That said, if your routine fits Madrid (i.e.: you go to bed at midnight or later & you're happy to wake up at 8.30am/9am) like we were, it won't be an issue for you; it wasn't for us. However, if you like to be in bed by 9pm or 10pm on a Saturday night, it might bother you. If we return to Madrid we'll definitely be staying here again.

The staff were absolutely amazing. They were very helpful with providing information about the area, made wonderful suggestions on things to see. The location is within walking distance of many incredible local restaurants and shops. I have stayed in many hotels during my travels and this Posada has moved to the top of my list of all time favorites. Can’t recommend a stay here highly enough.

Very clean, quiet, walkable, lots around to eat, metro nearby. Room looked better than it did in the photo. Next time I won't get the attic room though. My boyfriend is tall and he could only comfortably use half of the room. We also wish we could have kept the beds together. The floor is slippery so trying to snuggle in the middle of the beds pushes them apart. We'll pick a different room next time but would definitely stay here again.

Love this location and the hotel is very intimate. Stayed 3 years ago and thought it was amazing, but this time the restaurant was closed when we were there (it's now closed Mondays and Tuesdays) so it felt a little dead.

Very well located, the rooms are comfortable and well equipped and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I was very happy with my decision to stay there. The street can be pretty noisy at night, but that is to be expected from this area of Madrid, so that did not bother me. The only downside were the wifi in the room, which was not working very well although I did not use it much.

Best Designed Hotel in Madrid & Beyond
Having taken 6 week each travel vacations in Spain & Portugal for the last 6 years, This was the best hotel we've ever stayed in. Not fanciest, not the largest room, but the best designed. The room was sized perfectly with a balcony over the street. The bed was comfortable with great pillows. (Finding great pillows in Spain is not as easy as it sounds, no matter what you pay). The walk-in shower had a nicely pebbled non-stick floor and multiple shower heads. Anywhere you thought you might need to find an outlet for your electronics, there was at least one or more. Lights everywhere in the room were positioned to max usefulness. Mirrors also. Surfaces to lay your things down on. Closet with fridge and lockbox. Room look is modern with old beams. There is an interior atrium and expensively redone woodwork around the well. A similar looking posada across the street says established 1642. So I'm guessing this one is similar. The staff is wonderful! The breakfast was great and reasonably priced (again not common in hotels). La Latina neighborhood is among the coolest in Madrid. We usually fly into Madrid. Future trips will start with making sure a room is available at Leon de Oro before booking the flight!
