Excellent hotel for this with larger budgets!

Posted 11-Nov-2014
Pros: The breakfast.
Cons: Nothing really. Perhaps more affordable access to lavatories.
Location: Shopping, dining and access to PT is all close to the hotel.
Melia Galgos hotel is located in the upmarket Salamanca district of Madrid. The hotel itself offers generous sized rooms, excellent access to Wifi and free storage of luggage for 24 hours post check in for clients. Service is great and there is nothing lacking of this hotel.

Great Location

Fast check in, staff extremely helpful ( they offered another room as I did not like the one allocated). Slept like a baby in a small but comfortable room. No noises.

Nice hotel but far from the city.

Pros: The price was reasonable. It would be good for conferences or for those on a tight budget. It is an OK hotel. No wow factor.
Cons: The receptionists could be more cordial. Putting a mat before the bed might make the room cozy. Inform guests upfront the rooms have a half bathtub.
Location: Nice coffee shops and restaurants around the corner. A few blocks away there is a centre commercial where you have a supermarket and some shops.
I loved the hotel lobby. Contemporary decorated. They played nice music. The breakfast was great. So many things to choose from. What I did not like::I love to spoil myself when I travel and this hotel did not allow me to do that. The bathtub was half a bathtub. Nobody could really fit in it except a kid. I felt deceived since I was looking for a full bathtub and the photos online were showing the bathtub as a full tub. I love to soak in a bathtub after a long day of sight seeing and shopping. Rude receptionists who were abrupt in dismissing you before they answered your queries fully.

We had to change the room twice and there is a lack of staff to help so we had to do it by ourselves at midnight. Besidea that, the hotel has a good location and the renovated rooms are big and very nice...

Lovely hotel with fantastic breakfast.

Posted 03-Nov-2014
We've just had a fantastic 3 night stay at Melia Galgos. The room was spacious and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast that was included in our price was fantastic - a huge selection of fruit, cereals, pastries, cold meats, cooked eggs, hot bacon, sausages and vegetables, not to mention the breads, fresh fruit juices and tea and coffee brought to our table! We didn't eat "lunch" before 4pm on any day of our stay, it was so filling. Because we were travelling last minute and light, we didn't bring sports gear, which was a shame because the gym looked well equipped. We ate dinner every night within walking distance of the hotel, and used TripAdvisor to find some lovely restaurants. The nearest metro stop was a pleasant 5/10 minute walk away, and from there you can easily get to all the museums, shops etc. Highly recommended.

Room was nice but very small. Our window faced the fire escape. Considering that I was staying at a 5 star hotel, I would have preferred a view (other than the fire escape stairs).

Hotel staff were helpful. It is a little far from some of sights but it is in a quieter, cleaner location

Melia Galgos is a peaceful and elegant place to stay in Madrid, many restaurants and cafeterias around. We walked to Puerta de Alcala and Gran via for about 20 minutes, been neighbor to USA Embassy and other Diplomat houses gave us tranquility. If God permit we will be there again.

Pros: Location, good rooms
Cons: See above under stamps
Location: See above
Staff helpful, although concierge has no stamps - this important as Post office opens very late. Good breakfast
