Dining
Hotel Melia Castilla's acclaimed restaurants include L'Albufera, which pioneered rice dishes from Spain's Eastern Coast in Madrid starting in 1983, together with other specialties from Spanish cuisine. Attention to detail in selection of freshest ingredients, comprehensive customer service and attractive presentation is in keeping with the hotel's exclusive standards. For greater privacy, the restaurant is divided into a cozy covered terrace and an ample salon with different levels.

“Excellent position near Metro with easy links to city & airport”
A short walk from a Metro station makes this a good location. Taxi from airport was Euros 30.00 but Metro just 3.00!! Swish business hotel with super breakfast!
“needs a huge renovation in rooms”
I have stayed in hotels with fewer stars that were much better than this. Too expensive for the quality they offer. Bathroom too poor in ilumination, noisy toilet, old bathtub, old and worn out towels... and many other details that make you think you didn't make the right choice.
“BEST HOTEL EVER”
INCREDIBLE SERVICE!!!!
“Location,location!”
The hotel location is perfect, nice restaurants around, but the hotel is just good, in our opinion is not a 5 start.
“Too good to be true”
Breakfast too expensive and some of the maitre dee not nice at all especially the women
“Two main drawbacks”
Terrific hotel and service Two drawbacks is that it is in a government area and very little to do within walking distance, especially on the weekend. Also the pool area is very nice, but the water is very, very cold and not suitable even for a short dip.
“Poor and arrogant service”
How this hotel maintains its 5 star rating is beyond me. The staff are rude, arrogant and frankly unhelpful. The hotel looks like some garish 1980s throwback and rooms average by five star standards. Avoid.
“Very good hotel per se but poor location and expensive...”
Positive points: - No problems with the hotel itself. Clean, quiet, comfortable rooms, polite staff etc. Negative points: - No gym in hotel. (A minor point, I know, but I thought it would have one for 5 star status). - All rooms have "classic" decor throughout, which may please the older couple. I would have preferred contemporary suites, and I'm sure some of the pictures on the site were contemporary, but on enquiry at reception this was not the case. - The pool is quite small and only gets sun between 1pm and 4pm because the hotel is surrounded by other hotels. You are not permitted to take ANY food or drink around the pool but have to buy from the poolside bar, which brings me to the next point... - Very expensive! I know the Pound and Euro are 1:1 currently, but to pay almost 10 Euros for a bottle of beer and over 20 for a club sandwich seems expensive. - Most important point - in a dodgy, run down area of Madrid (the "Salamanca" area) with several strip bars / nude shows nearby, and lack of basic supermarkets / shops to get even water. A good 40 min ride via Metro into Playa del Sol, the main area for sightseeing, tapas bars, clubs, restaurants, etc. - Don't listen to the Concierge. He recommended a restaurant around the corner. We went there, and were presented with a menu, on which the daily special was a seafood mix grill. For 158 Euros! Slightly over budget for one meal.
