It is a hostel so please do not expect it to have a wonderful and beautiful property. Rooms are small. Bathrooms are small. Bed is comfortable. Hot water is plentiful. Walls between rooms are thin but FABULOUS location

beware..taxis + vans must drop you 1+ blocks from hostal entry...centre city is pedesyrian only. Closest to Metro Sol Station. Great location in "happening" area

Since living away from Madrid, Hostal Victoria is where I always stay when going to Madrid. Location is excellent for my needs, the hostal has all the devices you find in a 4 stars hotel, but in smallest size, it's a clean place and its staff is good enough.

Near perfect stay in Madrid
Before deciding to finalize the reservations I made for family members, I specifically asked if the hostel had an elevator because they would be bringing heavy luggages. This was confirmed by a hotel.com agent. During check in however, my family members said the elevator wasn't working and they had to drag their bags 3 floors up with no offer of assistance from the staff. This was very disappointing. The good side is that the rooms were very clean and comfortable, the front desk Andres was friendly and handsome, and the location was excellent. Everything was very close: churches, free walking tours, nice restauranfs, flamenco show and especially Chocolateria San Gines for the best churros! Hopefully, they will fix their elevator so they will get a perfect review!

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful on transportation and attractions in Madrid. Our 1st room was a room with no view nor balcony. The staff was able to accommodate us with a view and balcony room. The location and transportation are nearby. The rooms are very small but the price and location make up for this inconvenience.

The Hostel itself couldn't be in a better spot. Central to everything, it was clean and had a great powerful shower. Room was only small but adequate for a single visitor. Had to ring 2 buzzers to get in when returning each night but never waited for more than a few seconds. I would definitely return

Convenient location but noisy
Convenient central location but noisy both within Hotel (old lift, door slamming, strange reception operated door opening buzzer system, noisy reception area) and neighbourhood. If you wish to sleep before midnight you may wish to find another hotel. If you plan to party into early hours then Hotel is well located.

Impeccably clean
100 meters from metro train and 20 min walk in to main train station for inter Spain travel. Staff very kindly phoned our Malaga hotel, free of charge, to say we would be arriving later than expected. The only downside from this fabulous location is it's on a Main Street which has party goers coming home all night til 3 & 4 in the morning. Not the hotel if you expect a quiet night

Weekend in Madrid
When the word "hostal" is mentioned people tend to think of dormitories,bunk beds and general untidiness (my colleagues opinion anyway) This hostal was far from it.From the outside it seemed nothing just a a small door and a narrow corridor leading to a lift leading up to our second floor where the reception was.Very small reception but very friendly staff.Our room although on the main thoroughfare was reasonably quite once the french doors were closed.The room itself was immaculate and we even had a change of bedding and towels although we only stayed for two nights.The bathroom although small was very clean and seemed as though it had recently been updated,and toiletries were on hand also. The hostal itself was a stride away from the Sol Plaza where there is plenty to do and always semi to have some sort of entrainment going on. I would not hesitate in recommending anyone to stay here and when visiting Madrid again we would almost certainly stay here again..If we can get in! as it always seems to be fully booked.

Excellent location, functional room but on the small side. good value though for price paid. Very clean with room serviced daily with clean towels daily too. Noisy at night but to be expected given the very central location, didn't put us off, just pack earplugs.

I had the single room for 4 nights and it was just fine: tiny, cheap, comfortable, good hot water, great WiFi, and ... air-conditioned! Why would anyone come to Madrid and spend more than 6 or 8 hours in the hotel room anyway? It's half a block off the Puerta del Sol, walking distance from the museums and in the middle of the night life. Still, it seems safe on the outside and it takes three security steps (2 buzzers and a key) to get into the room. Recommended.

Great spot
Great place. Friendly staff. Located seconds from the main square, which is walkable to all the top sites and surrounded by many restaurants/cafes and shops.

Avoid second floor
i have stayed here three times. My only complaint was the noise. This time i got put on second floor by reception. It was pretty noisy, even with ear plugs in. Request the third floor.

Oasis by Sol
Hostal Victoria I is steps away from Sol, the mecca of all Madrid city life. While the hotel was nothing fancy, the unbeatable location, cleanness of the rooms (including daily maid service), and relatively large bathrooms compared to other Spanish hotels of this type made for a great stay. The in-room AC and mini-fridge were also a plus. The only downside was it was a little bit noisy due to thin walls, but this is typical of almost any accommodation of this type in Madrid.
