“Great Hotel & Service”

This hotel is really good and particularly we received a very good service. The food they have there is very tasty, we ordered both room service and at hotel restaurant, the price of the dinner plate for room service seem a bit expensive, but when it arrived we noticed it was worth it, good amount of food and a delicious flavour, and the lunch we had at hotel restaurant was a very affordable price and also very tasty. The location of the hotel is good, it is not close to downtown (or city centre), but is like 5 min walking to the nearest subway station so it is very practical. I will definitely stay here on my next visit to Madrid!!

“Nice rooms but far from city”

The airport claims to be close to the airport which it is, but if you're planning to use the metro instead of a cab, it is quite a hike. You have to towards the city center to go back out again.

“Good Hotell in Middle of Nowhere”

This hotel is big, it's clean and tidy with a nice breakfast. It's an excellent hotel if you are on a business or family trip. However it lacks personality. It's of course depending on what kind of person you are. The hotel is classy and have an tough of elegance, but if you are looking for charm there is perhaps better places. I walked around the hotel some hours but it was really off. Could compare it to an Airport Hotel - you are there because it's near to work or airport. But as such it was more than excellent.

“Good Hotel - Bad Location”

The hotel was very clean, the room was very comfortable and large for european standards. Staff was friendly, the only problem was the location was too far away from the center of the city. The metro was about a 15 minute walk and at night the area was very isolated.

Area recommendations

Any hotel near Plaza Mayor or Plaza del Sol is your best bet. All the bars, restaurants and sights are a walk away from these neighborhoods.

“Highly Recommended”

We picked this hotel because it appeared close to the airport yet not to far from the city of Madrid because we had a little more than half a day to see the sights. It turned out that the location was as we had hoped, the hotel reception staff (David) was amazingly helpful with maps, directions, reservations, wake up call and, best of all, the hotel room was comfortable and great for the price. We returned by metro well past midnight and felt perfectly safe walking back to the hotel at that hour. Highly recommended.

Area recommendations

We only had from noon onward in Madrid and flew out the next morning. Do not miss the Palacio Real. I've travelled across 3 continents and this was one of the best preserved palaces - a lot to see. We rushed through it and spent about 2 hours. The Prado is also a must see. Hotel staff booked us at a flamenco dinner show that we had sourced and that they said was popular even with local tourists. It was excellent, though I would have, in retrospect, ordered several tapas and forgone the dinner. Very enjoyable day overall.

“My preferred place to stay in Madrid”

I have used this hotel for the past 3 years because the staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are very spacious and comfortable with free WiFi and free water from the minibar (note this used to be beer, water & soft drinks but I guess they are suffering from the recession).. Very well located for me as it is close to the airport and the main ring roads in Madrid are close by giving easy access. There is hotel parking which is chargeable or you can park on the street for free.

There is a very good bar/restaurant opposite called Rast which does great tapas and jamon (pata negra).

“Very Impressed”

I would highly recommend the Confortel Alcala Norte Hotel. The rooms are excellent, very clean and the bed and room size is good. They provide bottled water daily. Their breakfast buffet is very good with plenty of food and fresh fruit. It is one of the best breakfast buffets that I have ever seen. The hotel is located a long distance away from downtown. But, the bus runs across the street from the hotel. The metro station is located a few blocks away. It is about a fifteen minute walk. Front desk people are not very helpful. They do not talk very much. It is very much a business atmosphere.

Traveller's tip

If you want to save a few bucks, this is a very good hotel overall. The only problem is the distance from the hotel to downtown. However, the transportation is very good.

“Great place to stay”

This modern-styled hotel has excellent service. The room was quiet and comfortable. The breakfast buffet has a great selection of food. Transportation is easy to get. Bus transportation is practically across the street. Metro is between 5-10 minutes away.

“A pleasant hotel and good value”

I picked this hotel randomly on internet, but found it to be very pleasant with spacious rooms and a helpful staff. There are parks nearby and it's close to the subway for going downtown.
