Good Modern Hotel in Lido area
+ Modern Hotel with rooftop pool & terrace (unheated) + Large room with good WIFI + Good buffet breakfast with plenty of options + Good location in Lido, lots of restaurants & coastline nearby (or 25-30min walk into Funchal) - Only two lifts in the building, and one was out of service during our stay which meant occasionally waiting up to 5 minutes for the lift. - Restaurant for breakfast has no windows (eg. no sunrise / natural light) - Bathrooms seemed a bit outdated compared to the rest of the room / building.

Great area with many restaurants, souvenir shops and the shopping centre all within walking distance. Very close to the Lido where you can swim in the pool and the ocean. The property contained a large swimming pool as well as a bar. On the other hand the gym size was a little disappointing with not much equipment. The waiting area in the reception is very luxurious and overall the interior of the hotel is stunning. With most of the room very clean I did notice on top of the fridge was very dusty, but overall I really enjoyed my stay and the stuff were very friendly and helpful

Due to the Oscar Storm we were exhausted on arrival, Marcio welcomed us at the reception with no warm welcome whatsoever, not much care about mentioning the day we lost trying to enter Madeira. Bathroom had hair on the bathtub on arrival, safe wasn’t working, we waited for maintenance but had to leave with our valuables and jewellery, only when we came back in the evening the safe was fixed. No pens in the room to write on the laundry sheet. Balcony only had one chair, others had two as we could see from outside. Allison from reception was a star always kind and very helpful. On our last day the pool in the morning wasn’t available for a swim, and after check out the first night we lost wasn’t mentioned again, and we had to keep our luggage ourselves in a room without a ticket, not very safe even though there was a camera. Breakfast was really good, all the staff so effective and polite, the sparkling wine was very nice and given to us for my wife’s birthday. Upon reaching out to hotels.com and speaking to the hotel about the refund of the first night the hotel replied to have no one in today to approve the refund, not happy at all.

Hotel has had a makeover some but areas missed out. Very noisy air-con. Good sized bedroom and bathroom. Good location with bars, restaurants and shops.

December Break
This is a nice hotel and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a sea view room on the 3rd floor which overlooks the main road which we liked but might be a little noisy for some. The beds are a little hard for our taste and pillows very small, had to ask for extra pillows which was not a problem. Room was cleaned every day and towels changed too if you throw them in the bath. Rooftop pool is small pleasant, a bit cold in December though. Pool bar reasonably priced decent food and drink during the day. All in all enjoyed our 9 day stay.

Amazing experience.
Amazing experience. Although Hotels.com did not pass on our full booking to the Hotel, the staff promptly ajusted the reservation to our requirements. Loved it all. Hotels.com lay down the booking quickly and the Lince Hotel promoted us a wonderful stay, an amazing experience. Thank you to all the Lince Hotel staff and Hotels.com.

Great location, clean and good customer service, but confused with the dining options at the restaurant in the evening. A menu is displayed at the entrance, but once seated a half board set menu was the only option. Furthermore, for a 4* hotel the bathrooms require updating and the complimentary toiletries upgraded.

An ok stay
The positive of this hotel is definitely the location. Right in the Lido area; it’s very handy to most of Funchal and it’s tourist spots. The hotel owe a lot to their staff too whom are very kind and welcoming. A few points that made I wasn’t so happy about: The room I booked stated an included breakfast, but when I arrived, they said I had to pay extra for it. The bathroom had fixtures missing. The room was very basic, and not as inviting as the images suggest, but it was still pleasant.

Very good hotel in excellent location.
The Lince Hotel was a good choice for our first visit to Madeira and I would recommend it and would certainly consider it if we visited again. However, it wasn't without fault and I would understand others marking it lower than I did. Our room was under the swimming pool (located on the fourth floor) and the noise of the filtration system was a little on the noisy side. There was a large crack on the bedroom wall. There was an infestation of ants and the hallway carpet was as bad as I have seen still in use. These issues might sound bad but they really weren't, the ants seem to be a Madeira problem rather than just the hotel, the crack could and probably should be repaired easily and I'm sure the carpet will be changed in the low season, it looks as though the stains and damage are as a result of recent building works. As far as we were concerned the positives outweighed the negatives, the staff were great, very helpful, and friendly. The balcony in the room was excellent, perfect for people watching or gazing out to sea. The bedroom was spacious acceptably comfortable with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. The pool area was great and quiet during our stay offering plenty of loungers and seating . The breakfast was adequate with a good selection, hot and cold. Funchal is a leisurely twenty minute walk away if the varied selection of restaurants and bars in the immediate vicinity don't appeal to you,

Great Hotel close to plenty of restaurants
Service excellent, staff friendly and helpful, especially with local tourist information. Great location, with plenty of good restaurants in local area offering varied menu's at very reasonable prices. Breakfast was an excellent buffet with plenty of choices of hot & cold food. Will definitely book this hotel again next time we visit Madeira

Perfectly situated hotel near lido
Amazing staff at hotel couldn't do enough for us, excellent breakfast, room clean and spacious with excellent views of sunrise and sunset over the sea. Left complimentary fruit platter and champagne on my wife's birthday even though we had not mentioned the fact. Would definitely return felt very comfortable and at ease.

OK location Parking included at adjacent car park Very nice staff, just not enough of them - often the bar in the hotel was unmanned - I waited 15 minutes before giving it up as a bad job! The same with the pool bar, you couldn't get a drink or towels without phoning through and then waiting for someone to come UP. Great breakfast included - buffet style, good quality and well presented. Nice room included fridge which is very useful although not the comfiest beds

Convenient for facilities
We were a day late arriving at the hotel due to high winds preventing landing but the hotel kept the room and made sure we were comfortable; in fact , we were upgraded to a better room. The room was excellent with a huge terrace facing the sea.

From the first day to the last we were treated like royalty. the staff were friendly, courteous and very professional. For example, we asked for a kettle for our room and within 2 minutes it was delivered. Without any prompting they presented my wife with a lovely bottle of champagne as it was her birthday a few days after we arrived. Someone must have noticed her date of birth when we handed over our passports at check in. Like I said earlier, very professional.

Last minute break to Madeira found us in this inexpensive hotel. ExpectAtions were not high but the Lince exceeded them by the bucket load. Efficient friendly staff were on hand 24 hours a day. Room was spotless, bright and modern. Breakfast was first class with loads of choice from continental through to hot full breakfasts. Roof top pool afforded view over neighborhood. Shops and restaurants all on doorstep

Excellent Hotel in ideal location
The rooms at this hotel are clean spacious and comfortable the staff are friendly and helpful a good selection for breakfast location is excellent for town centre an easy 25 minute walk or the bus stop just across the road. This was our third stay at this Hotel and will most certainly return again in the future.

Well situated within 30 minutes of Funchal center
Many shops and restaurants nearby and on doorstep of hop on hop off tour bus as well as within 30 minute walk of center of Funchal. Hotel staff very good and multilingual. Furnishings looking a little tired and TV screen poor but otherwise perfectly clean and satisfactory.

A very pleasant hotel
Very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel ideally situated for all amenities. It also has its own underground car park. It took us about half an hour to walk downhill to Funchal, a bit longer walking back. (both of us in 70`s). Many restaurants in area, we ate in different restaurant every night for 12 days.

Clean hotel with good facilities. Excellent wifi throughout hotel. Roof top pool and bar is nice relaxing area. Only downside is road noise if on front lower rooms. I would recommend asking for 2nd floor and above. Otherwise great location for restaurants and travel/tour links.

Over Christmas was our second stay at this excellent hotel. The staff were all polite, friendly and very helpful. The hotel location is 25mins easy walk to the centre of Funchal or the bus stop is opposite the hotel with frequent services to the town centre. It is also close to some very good restaurants. The hotel is kept spotlessly clean. The room with a sea view was large clean and comfortable. Breakfast is excellent with a wide choice of hot and cold food. I recommend this hotel to all my family and friends and I will return soon

Modern clean hotel with easy access to city centre
Lovely clean modern hotel. Pool area on roof spacious and comfortable with bar for drinks and snacks. Limited breakfast but enjoyable. Bus stops across the road. A great choice of restaurants in immediate area plus plenty of Supermarkets. Fairly level walk to centre of Funchal which is about two miles but only minutes on bus or by taxi. If you visit in December the lights, decorations and street entertainers are fantastic. A brilliant stay.

Small, no frills hotel in Funchal hotel district
Stayed in hotel for an extended period of 11 days in late October. Holiday plans were to spend sometime relaxing and enjoy the sun and the rest walking the levadas. Hotel was a great base to do that. Pool area is small, overlooking the main road below and beyond out to sea. Was not busy whilst we were there - we were able to enjoy the sun in peace and were not aware of road noise from below. Lido area on sea front an easy 5 minute walk downhill. Very close to supermarket and good choice of restaurants. Staff we always polite and front desk very happy to help us plan our trips - mostly using local buses - out and about in the island. Room was clean and everything in good working order.

very good value and would recommend. If you want a sea view the sea is 1/4 mile away hidden by other hotels & shops. You may only see the horizon. Good garage. Doctors in arcade next door !!
