Lovely hotel in a great location. Chose it for the access to the sea as my husband prefers not swimming in pools, however the lower pool is sea water so he did use it as well.Staff were very helpful and polite and nothing seemed to much trouble. This was our first visit to Madeira and was a little worried that we might be a little young compared to other guests but it didn't feel like that. The hotel is just far enough out of Funchal to feel relaxed but very easy to get anywhere - hotel run free buses - and taxis are reasonable. The island is clean, friendly and easy to visit for a week. Will go back

“Wonderful hotel”

We booked this hotel blind - knowing nothing about Funchal. It turned out to be the perfect location and the room (#427) was just wonderful with seaviews. The room was nicely furnished and a nice size. There was a roomy patio to sit on outside. We had to request that our room be cleaned early as there were a couple of days when we returned late in the afternoon it had not been cleaned but that was a minor issue. The staff was very friendly and helpful. One issue to consider is that it was extremely difficult to exchange US dollars/travelers checks in Funchal - need to plan ahead. The hotel helped set up private tours for us that were just perfect. Food and drink prices were higher than going outside the hotel but quality was very good. There was a nice full buffet breakfast included with our room. Location was good, we were able to walk or the hotel had a free bus to the city proper. Taxi's were also very plentiful and easy to get. Overall we would highly recommend this property -

“The Gem of Maderia Portugal”

Very nice place hotel, great food and service. The location was also nice and close to all attractions. I have traveled the world and this is truely a nice 5 star hotel at a very resonable daily rate. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that wants to relax on the island on Maderia. The spa service is world class and very clean.

Excellent hotel in every aspect. All the staff were very attentive, nothing was too much trouble and they were always very pleasant and polite giving first class service. The hotel certainly lives up to its 5* rating.

“A great break”

This is a first class hotel in a superb and convenient location. Standards and service were five star and though a large hotel did not feel overwhelming. Lots of excellent facilities. It’s about a 15-20 minute easy walk from the centre of Funchal. For those who are thinking of going don’t hesitate but we would suggest you book a room with a sea view. We will be going back.
