“Everything we could have asked for.”
This was our first time in Madeira, we knew nothing of the Island or indeed it's hotels. We chose 'Quinta Jardins do Lago' purely from the descriptions within the Expedia website and though we considered others we kept being drawn back to this one. Spent 4 wonderful nights here and can now see why the rating on the site is so high. Every single aspect of our stay is a 5 out of 5 could not fault anything. The setting was magnificent, the gardens were a joy to behold and the main building was all you could expect from a marvellous 18th century manor house. The hotel provided everything you could need for a relaxing holiday. The location being just a little away from the centre of Funchal, was perfect and as a small hotel it was all we could have wanted for a relaxing break. The staff were most helpful and courteous and delivered on every single request we had of them fo the entire duration of our stay. Will recommend to everyone I meet.
“Exceptional Atmosphere and Staff Hospitality”
We found the quality of the hotel outstanding. The ambiance, the food and the courtesy/helpfulness of the staff were exceptional. Our visit was at the end-of-season, as we prefer the cooler climate and less tourists about. Regardless of the time of year, we found the hotel grounds fully maintained and accessible for use including a fabulous outdoor pool, lush gardens, various staffed food/beverage areas (including a beautiful formal dining area) and a downstairs billiard, reading room. There is also a shuttle van for excursions to the city center. Though I would not discourage families, at off-season I would certainly classify this as a holiday for "grown-ups". Even the clientele were well-dressed and polite; couples out for a romantic holiday, small groups of friends, people seeking respite and relaxation. This was not a rollicking, noisy place.The atmosphere/grounds felt tranquil and mature. CLASS, without pretension. We would strongly recommend the hotel to anyone. Please pass our regards to everyone, we look forward to visiting again in the future-
“Tolles kleines Hotel mit herrlicher Gartenanlage”
Wunderschönes Hotel in ehemaligem Herrenhaus. Das Hotel liegt einer sehr schönen gepflegten Gartenanlage mit tollem Swimmingpool, Liegestühlen, Bar etc. Im garten lebt auch die etwa 60 Jahre alte Landschildkröte Colombo. Ein kleiner Teich mit Zierfischen und 2 Schwänen runden das schöne Gesamtbild ab. Die Zimmer sind sehr geräumig. In ca. 15 Minuten ist man zu Fuß an der Hafenpromenade und im Zentrum von Funchal. Der Rückweg dauert etwas länger, weil es teilweise doch stark berauf geht. Dann kann man aber auch den kostenlosen Hotelshuttle nutzen, der mehrmals täglich zwischen Hotel und Zentrum verkehrt. Alles in allem ein tolles Hotel mit einer besonderen persönlichen Note. Das trifft auch auf das Hotelrestaurant zu. Nicht zu vergessen auch das stets freundliche und hilfsbereite Hotelpersonal. Um Madeira auf eigene Faust zu erkunden, empfiehlt sich ein Mietwagen. Ein hoteleigener und in sich geschlossener Parkplatz steht ebenfalls zu Verfügung. Wir haben unseren 2-wöchigen Aufenthalt ausgiebig genossen und kommen sehr gerne wieder.

hotel excentre voiture indispensabe difficile de dormir la fenetre ouverte car les chiens aboyent toute la nuit et meme la fenetre fermee le bruit est permanent service du personnel tres moyen pas beacoup d efforts pour faire parvenir les message la piscine ferme a 18h trop tot le soleil est encore la chambres spacieuses en general ensoleillees sauf la notre jamais de soleil et pourtant une chambre superieure en bref bel hotel mais beaucoup d efforts a faire pour faire partie des 5 etoiles
“Zauberhaftes Paradies”
Das Hotel liegt in einem wunderschönen und sehr gepflegten Garten; alle Bedienstete waren äußerst liebenswürdig und hilfsbereit. Sehr interessant war auch der alltäglich Kontakt zur Galapagos-Schildkröte Colombo. Eine Traumunterkunft, wenn man abschalten und ein paar stressfreie Tage verbringen möchte.
