“Comfortable & Relaxing”
All staff at the hotel were very friendly, courteous and welcoming-right down to the gardeners. The grounds are pretty and well kept and the garden area off the room is secluded for privacy. The attached restaurant offers delicious cuisine for a fine dining experience. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel for a relaxing holiday.
“Every inch the luxury boutique hotel”
Stayed in Reid's a couple of years ago and wanted to return to Madeira but try a different hotel. We were not disappointed with this hotel and it's gorgeous as long as you didn't want the sea views. The gardens were lovely and the hotel and setting were of a very high standard but I wouldn't necessarily book the superior room again as they only had deckchairs, whereas the standard rooms had sun loungers which in the Spring makes a difference because of where the sun hits the rooms! The food was of an exceptionally high standard and the service always friendly. The restaurant, which you need to book for the evening meal, was wonderful and up there with the best London restaurants. Lovely relaxing stay in pretty surroundings and would go back.
“Superb!”
Perfect in every way: comfortable, beautiful garden, great food, helpful staff.

“Highly recommended”
Well located on the edge of town in lovely gardens, Casa Branca offers a quiet retreat for couples where nothing is too much trouble. The food and service are excellent and the rooms comfortable, with a private terrace opening out on to the gardens a real plus. Great climate with lots to do if you're into walking/gardens/boat-trips - probably not a choice destination for young families/older children though. Spa facilities are adequate, beauty treatments very good - gym equipment a little sparse (only one bike, one treadmill and one rowing machine). Wherever you stay, be prepared to walk up and down a few steep hills!
“Funchal”
Great hotel. Great service, very friendly and helpful. Lovely hotel setting.
“We love it”
We've had half a dozen happy, relaxing holidays here at different times of year and love it. Very friendly and helpful staff. Not really suitable for children. Only minor complaints would be that some furnishings were starting to look a bit tired (loungers needing a new coat of varnish, an occasional stain on a chair etc) - but it's a wonderful place. The gardens are wonderfully peaceful to sit and contemplate in, snooze and read.
“very good hotel cannot fault it”
This hotel was excellent in every way. wonderful setting beautiful gardens and friendly staff.very good library and spa facilities too.
“An oasis”
A modern, stylish hotel within beautiful, well-tended gardens with an incredible selection of plants and trees yet close enough to the city centre to be able to walk everywhere (providing you are fit - a lot of it is uphill.). The staff were very helpful when needed yet unobtrusive and respectful of the privacy of the guests. A very relaxing place to stay.
“Excellent Hotel”
Well appointed rooms, courteous and attentive staff, very good restaurants and set in attractive gardens.
