Porto Mare

Posted 16-Jan-2015

Great location great facilities

Posted 15-Jan-2015
Pros: We liked everything about the hotel
Cons: Nothing comes to mind
Location: Location great free shuttle into Funchal only takes minutes yellow bus stops outside.Lots of good local restaurants within short walk
We realy enjoyed our stay and will return the selection and range of food on offer for breakfast was amazing as was the quality. If you like smoked salmon and scrambled egg washed down with fine sparkling wine you will not be disappointed. The hotel offers just about anything you may desire

First Class in every way.

Posted 08-Jan-2015
Pros: There is nothing we found to dislike about this hotel, everything it had contributed to the enjoyment of our holiday.
Cons: Nothing that comes to mind.
Location: For us the location is ideal, it is easy to walk into Funchal. Local buses / tourist buses made it easy to get about.
This is our third holiday in Madeira at this hotel and hopefully, it won't be our last. We can find no faults, the room, the staff, the food and the gardens are fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We can't wait too long for our next visit.

Winterquartier

Posted 02-Jan-2015

great location and fantastic gardens.

Posted 29-Dec-2014
Pros: the gardens the breakfasts the professionalism of all the staff
Cons: the outdoor pool could be heated.
Location: bus stop outside the hotel. taxi rank yards from the hotel. range of restaurants very near by and several supermarkets
bus stop right outside the hotel. Shuttle bus service down into Funchal daily (even Christmas day) excellent. Staff on reception were very helpful and made several phone calls regarding our transfers for 26th December. We were on bed and breakfast board and the breakfast was very good with plenty of choice with fresh fruit and personally cooked eggs etc. did not try any of the pools...as looked good but were not warm enough for me. Found the gardens really lovely and there was an area where orchids were flowering...along with some exotic plants and shrubs. The staff were all very professional and the hotel was run to a high standard. would certainly return as and when we go back to Funchal.

Great holiday

Posted 17-Dec-2014
Pros: Beautiful Gardens. A few swimming pools. Rooms with balconies. Great selection of food for breakfast. Helpful, friendly staff.
Cons: There was no Wi-Fi in the room.
Location: Good location. Restaurants, shops and supermarkets near by. Bus stop just in front of hotel. All tours start near bye.
Lovely experience. Wished I stayed longer so that I could enjoy all the hotel facilities. It will be lovely in summer when you can relax outside.

Fantastic hotel - nothing too much trouble!

Posted 23-Nov-2014
Pros: everything
Cons: nothing
Location: Funchal town, lovely tea shop there, cable car, botanical gardens etc
Had a third amazing stay at this beautiful hotel. We just love coming to visit. The staff made our stay particularly special to celebrate Mum's 80th birthday and went out of their way to make it wonderful for all of us. Can't speak highly enough of it...and look forward to our next visit

First class hotel with fabulous gardens.

Posted 08-Nov-2014
Pros: First class hotel with fabulous gardens.Very clean.Very friendly, efficient and relaxed atmosphere.Breakfasts great.Good spa-reasonable prices.
Cons: Extra charges for room safe, crazy golf etc should be dropped. Better and quicker service in reception to reduce waiting times.
Location: Good choice of restaurants close to hotel if not on half board.Buses stop outside hotel.Trips and guided walks for all levels with pick up at hotel.
Staff very friendly and courteous. Rooms spacious and spotlessly clean. All face the sea. Rooms large & all air conditioned.Relaxed atmosphere throughout. Position on outskirts of Funchal -quieter. Buses stop outside hotel. Also hotel courtesy bus into town. 25min walk. Lots of ideas for trips and walks. Island has many hidden gems - revealed by guides on these tours or walks. Still warm in Nov (25deg) and colourful flowers. Ample comfortable sun beds. Breakfasts superb & to suit everyone, including special diets. Choice of 4 restaurants opposite hotel (200yds) with superb fish dishes (meat also on menu). Lovely spa in hotel - reasonably priced. Only disappointment was having to pay for safe in room and activities such as crazy golf, table tennis etc.
