“a very pleasant stay and "Madeira Needs You!"”
easyjet were as we expected - the usual scrum - but on time and friendly. we had quite some difficulty finding the hotel in our rented car - if we had been on the airport transfer system this wouldn't have been a problem of course. first impressions were v good - our sort of place, ie a bit more traditional than say the new pestana promenade which we felt was like a corporate hq. we prefer to be quite independent on holiday which is why we book thru expedia and then arrange our own tours etc. madeira was different and all we hoped. some evidence of the floods and visitor numbers quite a bit down on last year. but this is no reason not to go.
“Gardener's Delight”
The gardens at the Pestana Village Hotel are absolutely stunning--no need to visit the botanic Gardens! The hotel was clean and comfortable and we had a beautiful sea view from our balcony. Breakfasts were excellent--a great choice of foods--and staff were helpful and friendly. We didn't eat other meals in the hotel as there are so many good restaurants to try in Funchal where fish and seafood is plentiful and very good. This was our second visit to this hotel and we would happily return in the future.
“relaxing location”
from check-in to leaving every member of staff was friendly and helpful, even returning free a jacket my Wife had left behind. Great value for money-will go back.
“Fabulous time, hotel great”
The Hotel was superb. Staff very helpful. Room was very comfortable with Sky TV Not really suitable to cook in the room( but who wants to!) but nice to have the fridge, kettle, etc in case you want just a sandwich for lunch Smashing assortment for breakfast (buffet) Lovely to have nice music in the evenings Gardens lovely. Would definetely go again. Lovely Island
“highl recommend this hotel group”
We would highly recommend the Pestana Miramar/Village as these two aparthotels are adjoining and some facities shared. The staff were very helpful and friendly. It's a well situated hotel opposite the bus stop for local bus services and the Hop On Hop Off bus. The breakfast was lovely, plenty of cold meats and cheese, fresh fruit and a fantastic selection of freshly cooked rolls and bread. Also typical english breakfast provided, The room was very comfortable with an enormous bed. The kitchenette are small but with all the cutlery and ware you need. The grounds are lush very pretty. All in all a well looked after hotel, very comfortable, very nice.
“Excellent base for Funchal”
We read a number of reviews that were not very complimentary about this hotel but we had an excellent stay there. We asked for a sea view and double bed and both requests were met.The service was excellent the room clean and had everything that you would expect. The breakfasts were really good with a wide range. The hotel itself is about a 40 minute walk from the centre of Funchal although there are lots of local buses
“One of the best holiays”
Pestana Village is a comfortable, clean hotel with excellent facilities within walking distance of the centre of Funchal. Locally there are very good and varied restaurants. The hotel gardens are a particular delight. The architectural design of the hotel makes it feel intimate and so much better than the usual high rise block. Altogether I cannot fault the whole holiday experience.
“4 star comfort and relaxation”
where do i begin - hotel was beautiful in lovely surroundings and close enough to Funchal for a nice walk each day, to walk off scumptious breakfast. our room was adequate only say that as we did not have a great view but were close to reception, breakfast room, BAR and pool.we did have a noise that kept us awake think it may have been machinery room close by but on the whole no complaints. Also the enening entertainment was more for oldies but lots of local bars close by to visit. Did not have evening meal at hotel as very expensive but found good place 'red Lion' that was very good and got picnic lunch from breakfast buffet every morning. enjoyed the rest but Maderia very hilly and not for the faint hearted but very pretty island.
“Could do better!”
The hotel is OK overall, but, we were expecting as advertised an 'aparthotel', but the catering part only contained 2 electric rings and 1 pan, teaplates and cup/saucers. (No frying-pan, no dinner-plates, no microwave). Food preparation was limited to, more-or-less, preparing sandwiches and fruit, boiling eggs and making tea/coffee. There was no heating in the rooms and with outside temperature of 15 deg.C. it was too cold. The food-warmers in the dining room were not hot enough, so the food was cold (unless you happened to get a tray that had just been filled). With the standard buffet dinner at 40 Euros each, and a pint of beer at 4 euros, staying-in was too expensive over 14-days.
“Not a 4* hotel but service made up for it.”
The Pestana Village is one of the prettier hotels in the resort. It is relatively low-rise & is surrounded by beautiful gardens. The rooms are a little disappointing for a 4* hotel with rather tired looking furniture, minimal extras (shampoo etc) & very thin towels. That being said, the staff there are fabulous & make you feel really welcome. The breakfast buffet is great with plenty of choice and it can be taken as late as 10am if required which is always nice when you are on holiday. The pools & other facilities looked lovely but sadly the weather was not good enough for us to try them out.
