“Beautiful surroundings”

The weather could have been kinder! Hotel location extremely convenient for bus routes and an easy walk into Funchal. Good choice of eating venues in the Hotel and other good restaurants close by. Grounds beautiful. 2 outdoor pools and an indoor pool in addition to spa facilities and a gym. We'd certainly be tempted back! Full day tours to East and West Madeira booked via expedia well organised, informative and in buses totally no more than 8 tourists, also to be recommended.

“A Garden Paradise”

This Pestana hotel has the most lovely garden all around it and its adjoined hotel The Village. One of the events on offer is a tour with the Pestana Garden Supervisor, who is highly knowledgeable and makes the tour great fun and you get a nice afternoon tea at the end. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Hard to fault this one. Situated almost opposite Reids Palace, little supermarkets and wonderful Bakery very close by, buses and taxis convenient, but walking into town is not arduous for the fit, along the Jacaranda avenue (flowering in spring).

“Madeira first timers”

The Miramar turned out to be a good choice for our honeymoon, which we picked based on everyone else's reviews! We enjoyed our stay as the staff were friendly and helpful and the facilities good - nice to have an indoor as well as two outdoor pools to choose from during low season. Make use of the health club as it's well maintained and wasn't busy (admittedly the hotel was very quiet as it was February). We had asked for a double rather than twin room on booking - the request hadn't made it to reception so we enquired if any other rooms were available and got a great upgrade, so it always pays to ask! Especially if the occupancy is low, as many of the rooms are timeshares. The older part of the hotel is a restored house and has a nice bar although we never made happy hour, but the two restaurants attached to it are a bit pricey (one wasn't open as it was low season); Luigis was bit cheaper and the pizzas are big! Only complaint on the hotel was that anything extra - iron, bathrobes etc are charged to your account unless you can show it was part of your booking or politley ask for them for free. These should really be provided for free in a four star hotel. Asde from that a really nice hotel and good location!

“Third time to the Miramar and still impressed”

The Pestana Miramar is a very good hotel. It is well situated on Estrada Monumental opposite Reids with excellent access to public transport. All the staff are very helpful and friendly with good English.The breakfast buffet is excellent and the restaurants in the hotel are very good. The design of the hotel with it's excellent and well maintained gardens facilitates a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The rooms are well maintained but perhaps could do with an upgrade to the decoration. We enjoyed our stay at the Miramar. Worthwhile to pay bill a few hours before departure just in case they have a problem with the computers.

“Great Hotel and impressive gardens.”

Cannot fault the Pestana Miramar from the time we arrived to the time we left.Marco at the reception was very helpfull and friendly nothing was to much trouble. Location was ideal, just a 15 to 20 minute stroll into center of Funchal,if you did not feel like walking buses are very frequent and the stop was just out side the hotel.

“A very good hotel”

The Miramar hotel charges guests for a sunshade - this should be free in a 4* hotel, the additional revenue to the hotel is minimal, but it has a negative impact on a guest's viewpoint. Meals and drinks were expensive. Furthermore at the weekend restaurants were closed to guests for private functions

“Great Hotel”

The Pestana Miramar is a well managed hotel situated in a convenient location a short walk from the centre of Funchal, and also in the other direction, the Funchal Lido. Our room in the Miramar was well equipped having a small kitchen area, bath with shower, and a balcony facing the main pool area. The room was comfortable and very clean. The room was cleaned every day, and towels replaced when requested. Pool towels were also provided. There are two pools at the Miramar - a good size outdoor pool + an indoor pool with Jacuzzi. The Hotel also shares some facilities with the adjacent Pestana Village hotel which gives access to a third pool. All of the pools were kept spotlessly clean as was the entire Hotel and grounds. The grounds must get a special mention as the gardens in which the hotel is set are beautiful and make this hotel a very pleasant and relaxing place to be. Breakfast was included with the room rate and this comprised of a buffet style breakfast with just about anything you could want available - really set you up for the day. All in all a really good hotel.

“Would use again”

The hotel was ideally situated and was a 20 minute walk into Funchal. It did require a bit of effort of having to take 2 different lifts to get to our room. Our room was in another part of the hotel. The staff of the hotel are very pleasant and provide very good service. We would definitely return there.
