We stayed at this hotel for 1 night only as we were due to board a cruise ship the next day. The apartment was clean and functional. We enjoyed having the balcony which was an extra bonus. Its good value for the price you are paying. We enjoyed a lovely meal and breakfast at the restaraunt which is adjoining this hotel. Our cruise ship let us down and I cannot speak too highly of the staff who helped us enormously to sort our flights back, Booked us into their other hotel which is in the North of the island and helped us hire car.
Looking for a space in which you can recharge your batteries then your search is at an end as the Albatroz you will find luxury and tranquility. With a peaceful ambiance, well appointed rooms, superb service and excellent food it was a pleasure to stay here.
My room was advertised as a charming room and it was exactly that. Small balcony with good view ideal for puff of my pipe. Smashing view of the harbour. Little things like following days events newsletter delivered by turndown maid make hotel special as does the free soft drinks in mini bar. The hotel is old but not in decor or amenities. Great stay.
We have just returned from a weeks stay at The Vine Hotel Funchal, what a fantastic stay. We were celebrating our honeymoon and my birthday also fell during our stay. We were greeted by very friendly staff who showed us to the roof top pool and 360bar which by the way are fabulous. We had a complimentary drink before being shown to our room. I read a lot about the lights and difficulty people had using them, if you just take a minute to look at the layout there are no problems. We were given a bottle of champagne as a honeymoon gift which was such a lovely touch. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff at The Vine they are wonderful. The view from the roof top bar is amazing and just allows you to see how central you are in Funchal, perfect location. We thought Madeira had a reputation for the older generation, and it does still attract an older age range, but I'm pleased to say that with Hotels like The Vine the trend is definitely moving towards those in their late 20s early 30s, cocktails and infinity pools!
Funchal has a lot to offer from whale, dolphin watching, to amazing botanical gardens and local traditions. By far the best restaurant that we had the pleasure to eat at was Restaurante Do Forte at Rua Portao São Tiago, for 29 euros each we had a 6 course meal, amazing staff and a beautiful view, but you have to book early as it seems everyone loves this place.
First impressions were "wow" and did not change throughout the stay. The high standards were maintained in every department. The delicious food in the main restaurant was buffet style that changed themes every day for 7 days with a huge choice of courses at both breakfast and dinner and could be varied by "Dine Around" choices in any of the other 4 a la carte restaurants. The rooms were all mini suites with balconies, ours was on the third floor overlooking the pool area and the ocean, with a huge double bed, walk in shower and twin sinks as standard. Almost unique in Madeira, the hotel is located on the flat with easy walks in both directions from the hotel towards Funchal town centre or the lido. Additionally the hotel provides access to the sea from the extensive pool area.
Staff always polite and keen to help and advise. Helped us to book restaurants out and tours. Room very clean with good sea view. Bar staff friendly. Breakfast wide choice of cooked and buffet. Spa treatments worth exploring but a little expensive. Pools indoor and outdoor and several jacuzzi. We will go again
We had a wonderful holiday in Madeira staying at the Hotel Vila Gale. The hotel has excellent facilities, great food & wine & brilliant staff who are extremely friendly & do everything they can to make you stay an enjoyable one.
