"Hotel was well appointed with excellent location."
We were extremely pleased with the hotel, and made full use of the leisure facilities, including the steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi, swimming pool, which were all well maintained and clean. The Receptionist endeavoured to upgrade our room upon discovering that we were on honeymoon having married on the previous Saturday. Sadly the hotel was fully booked and she was unable to carry out the upgrade. The food was superb based on the set menu as part of the deal and waiting staff very efficient and helpful. We would not hesitate in recommending the hotel and would really love to stay there again, perhaps as an anniversary treat! Location was good in relation to the various popular Peak District towns, and Peak District activities.
We stayed for just one night, following a family party, and wanted to be able to walk back to the hotel, so this was fine. The owner was welcoming and showed us where we could park as the car park is very small. The room and bathroom were clean and pleasantly decorated.
Being in the centre of town, and over the Barnaby Fair weekend, there was quite a lot of noise after we went to bed. Although my husband was bothered by this, I'm somewhat deaf and soon got to sleep!

From the start to leaving the Hotel we felt at ease with the very friendly owners and staff. The beer was great, evening meal was excellent and the breakfast was of quality food. A nice touch in the bedroom was a glass of sherry and a sweet. Well done for making our experience very enjoyable. Peter & Maureen

I stayed at this hotel last week and for the price it was fabulous, the owner couldn't do enough to help me and the setting is beautiful. There is no mobile signal but that was nice to have some peace. The room was warm and comfortable with a beautiful view. It is basic and the food is basic but its a country pub. I felt very welcomed.
