“Needs improvement ,3 star at best”
Took 2 1/2 days and 3 requests to get bottled water to the room :( breakfast buffet was good lots of choices but there dinner buffet was not very good..I guess that's why no one was eating there! Lol . Pool area was very nice, tourist desk very, very pushy .It was okay for the money but would not recommend to friends.
“Nile Palace November 2011”
The Steigenburger Nile Palace is 1 mile south of the centre of Luxor (Luxor Temple) and fronts onto the Nile. It's a 20 minute walk, £E10 taxi ride or £E20 Calesh ride into town. There is little to choose between this hotel and the neighbouring Sonesta St.George. Both are good quality 4* (5 if you're generous) hotels. Both offer near identical facilities, pricing and location. I stayed for 4 nights in each during November 2011. The cheaper rooms in the Nile Palace face internal courtyards whereas the Sonesta budget rooms have side views of the nile. I would say the inner courtyard rooms are quieter at night since they are shielded from traffic noise (specifically, the Egyptian car horn). In addition, the Nile Palace rooms have blackout curtains, whereas Sonestas did not. Steigenburgers breakfasts were a bit more comprehensive. I preferred the Sonesta's pool for swimming in. All rooms were well decorated and carpeted.
“The best hotel in Luxor”

“5 Star Quality for 3 Star Price”
I booked the hotel as part of a package with flights from Bahrain. The cost represented extremely good value for a 7 night package, largely I guess because the recent turmoil in Egypt has had significant effect on tourism in Egypt generally and in particular Luxor as its international airport was closed in February and has only recently reopened. The Steigenberger Hotel is on the East Bank of the Nile and on the main hotel strip in Luxor. It has a nice sheltered pool area with a bar and restaurant. There are several other high quality restaurants in the hotel offering reasonable value for money (4 course meal for two with a bottle of wine £35). The room was clean and well equipped with a balcony with a view into the large open air hotel courtyard. There was no mini-bar. The hotel staff were very courteous and efficient and we had a very pleasant relaxed time in the hotel. Luxor is a fascinating place, there are plenty of activities, cultural and magnificent archeological sites to visit. The corniche on the east bank along the Nile is a nice walk but you do get a lot of hassle from very persistent taxi, horsedrawn carriage and boat proprietors. They've had a hard time of it recently so I for one was prepared to forgive the vast majority of them and only one or two had to be firmly dealt with!
“great view of nile”
excellent service and location. all staff very welcoming. great view of the Nile as you sunbathe! if you are thinking of hiring a horse and carriage outside the hotel - be careful there are many con people. but we found a great chap - Akmed (and his brother Ali) carriage 20 who for a bargained price hired him for the week and he took us everywhere very reliable and honest. i woul recommend this hotel
“beautiful”
Everything in this hotel was perfect except that the peaceful and magical setting by the nile is sometimes broken by the Diesel smell of cruise ships docking right by the hotel.
“ok”
Big suite for a low rate. However, the service was very generic and some of the services were way overpriced. Almost $20 a day for WiFi that only worked in the common areas of the hotel and around $20 for the hotel transfer. On top of that, you couldn't just obtain WiFi or the hotel transfer at the hotel front desk but had to go through third-party vendors in other parts of the hotel.
“Great Luxor Treasure”
Everything was well. It is a very huge hotel and very impersonal. They knew I was in Egypt for my 50th birthday and I had dinner in the Thai restaurant which was very good. The chef and staff personally brought me a birthday cake. It was really special and I appreciated it very much. The buffet breakfast provides a nice variety of foods and the Lebanese restaurant was also very good. The night show is a nice touch but would benefit from a host or MC. Great location as we walked to and from downtown Luxor. We watched the sunset over the Nile from our balcony and it was amazing. My husband and I really enjoyed staying at this hotel and highly recommend it.
“An excellent 5 star hotel!”
A great resort hotel at the ideal location with excellent views and restaurants. The swimming pool was popular. There were three great restaurants (a Thai, an Italian and a Lebanese). The breakfast buffet included dry figs and apricots which are difficult to get in most hotel breakfasts. The room was clean and nicely furnished. The balconies commanded a nice view of the swimming pool and the river Nile.
“Comfort on the Nile”
This hotel right on the Nile River was just what we needed after a 16 day trip. Our room, though of the "Comfort Class" had a tiny balcony with a view of the river. We enjoyed the Italian restaurant especially, and shopping in the boutiques off the lobby. Took a falucca ride right from the hotel dock, and enjoyed the well-appointed swimming pool. We looked into two other hotels nearby and preferred where we were located. The only disappointment was difficulty in walking along the street (poor sidewalks, hassled by natives looking for patronage)and that there were no restaurants that we could walk to, except in hotels. Would recommend this one for price and quality.
