“Travelling solo some concerns”
Very good value and good hotel. Nothing special but good hotel. Staff very helpful and trained well. The pool is great and the view is stunning so do get a Nile View room. Otherwise why have a room. It is the view that is worth it. Just want to mention as a solo traveller and female. Be smart when you leave the hotel as hassled/harrased by Egyptian men...so however you choose to deal with them just be wise and do not say you are single or walk to the Bank unaware of who is in the bank and outside as they do sometimes wait for you to come out of the bank in the hopes you will take a ride with them back to hotel...I am very travelled and was suprised and intimidated by the local Egyptians. Just be more aware of surroundings. I would not go out alone at night personally. But the food in the hotel itself is not that good. Good Pizza place but most guests seemed to leave the hotel in th evening to restaurants outside but if you travel solo you may not want to go out in the evening alone.
“Luxor in comfort”
My wife, two adult daughters and I stayed at the Luxor Sheraton 26-29 May 2011. We are experienced international travelers to out of the way places. One daughter lives in Cairo and speaks Arabic. The property is on the east bank of the Nile and is remodeled to standards for a good US hotel. It is secure, including a structure and staff that shield guests from the sometimes tiresome hawkers. The food is safe and good, with a number of restaurants to choose from and good room service. As with hotels of this quality in tourist areas, the prices are closer to EU or North American charges than Egyptian local charges. Due to the revolution, occupancy was very low but this did not seem to affect the service. We were greeted cordially by management with a cold glass of hibiscus tea upon arrival and things got even better during our stay. We were upgraded to adjoining suites with a spectacular Nile view. Within minutes of arriving in our room, someone came by to see if we needed anything. When one of us became ill (for reasons unrelated to the hotel) they offered us well suited food choices from their buffet for free. All the staff was friendly, with a good sense of humor. Shops inside the grounds provide for all our needs. While the property was at the end of a row of hotels along the Nile, taxis were inexpensive and plentiful and the hotel ran a shuttle bus. Getting around was no problem. If you are looking for a new facility, we highly recommend this hotel.
“Beautiful view of the Nile”
The hotel was wonderful quiet hotel with a beautiful view of the nile
“Luxor during the revolution”
We checked it 5 days into the revolution in Cairo but you couldn't tell it from the hotel; smooth and relaxed at 2:00 am check in. The staff were somewhat pre-occupied with their revolution, but they took good care of us for the three nights we were there. We loved it and will definitely stay there when we go back to Luxor, which will be soon.
“Lovely hotel on the Nile in Luxor”
The Sheraton in Luxor was a lovely place to stay, The location on the Nile was beautiful, especially at sunset. We arrived very early and were allowed to check in to our room at 8am, which was great. Everyone was very helpful. The breakfast buffet had an excellent selection of foods for all tastes. The hotel laid on a free shuttle bus into the town. It was walkable though - took about 20-25 minutes.
“Nile View Rooms lovely”
Enjoyed the view of the Nile from the room which was large with a sitting area and balcony. Enjoyed watching the woman making pita bread for the hotel in the brick oven on the grounds.
“Good location”
Good location for base to walk around Luxor and nice views on the Nile.
“Good option for Luxor visit”
While our stay was not perfect - there was some difficulty upon check-in and the daily breakfast was weak at best - the Sheraton is still a well-located, reliable, and comfortable base from which to explore the region. The restaurant and tour services on the site were convenient and of good quality for our use. We were traveling with our young son, and the staff tried to be accommodating of him, even if they were not ideally equipped to do so (no children's materials in the restaurants and only one high chair that no one knew how to use).
“Good value”
Offers pretty much everything you'd expect from a major chain. Nothing spectacular, but a very comfortable stay. The buffet food was pretty lousy however, so I would recommend eating dinners at the hotel restaurants or elsewhere.
“Nile Views”
This hotel has relaxing views of the Nile. The hotel staff and meals were of good quality.
