“Not expensive, not too fancy, and absolutely wonderful”

If you're looking for a small, inexpensive hotel for your stay in Luxor, the Nefertiti is an excellent choice. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel arranges great tours of the major sites in Luxor for prices that were quite low compared to everything I found online through other tour companies. They kept our luggage in the hotel for no charge several hours after check out and even offered to let us shower and use their facilities after our afternoon tour, though we had technically checked out by then. There is a lovely restaurant on the roof of the hotel and several other restaurants within walking distance with delicious Egyptian and Mediterranean food as well as a few more American choices like McDonalds. The location of the hotel is excellent, as it is directly in front of the Avenue of the Sphinxes and Luxor Temple, while directly behind the hotel is a market area full of small shops and vendors selling souvenirs of all kinds, and the view from the rooftop (where breakfast is served and where one may eat at the restaurant during the day) is incredible. I would recommend this hotel to anyone taking a trip to Luxor.

“Well worth visiting”

With this hotel you get 'what it says on the tin'. It is conveniently located for the main East Bank sites and by using their organisational skills they will arrange any tour you require. The staff are some of the friendliest I have met anywhere and nothing is too much trouble, you just have to ask. Aladin, the owner, tells you to traet the palce as home and that is how it feels. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

“The Nefertiti Hotel - Magnificent”

The Nefertiti Hotel provided a feast for the senses. The food served at the restaurant was delicious, whether you wanted to be adventurous and try the camel meat or you preferred to have more traditional, mainstream cuisine such as pizza or a salad. The view from the hotel rooftop was absolutely spectacular, providing amazing scenery of the Nile River as well as the Avenue of the Sphinxes. Should you be lucky enough to enjoy a warm cup of hibiscus tea at the end of a long day of sightseeing while sitting on the rooftop of the hotel, as you feel the cool breeze streaming from the Nile, you will wish for nothing more in life. The staff were very helpful, professional and friendly. They helped to arrange tours, transfers and anything else you might need. I will always remember their warm, “Egyptian hospitality.” The room was clean and comfortable, just what I needed after spending the day either enjoying Luxor’s history and beauty or shopping at the market which was located just down the street from the hotel. My trip to Egypt was unforgettable. I was able to visit some of the most magnificent and historic places of this ancient civilization. But, what truly made it memorable for me were the warm hospitality and kindness of the people, such as I experienced at the Nefertiti Hotel in Luxor. If I ever manage to visit Egypt again, I will definitely stay at this wonderful hotel and hope that some of the staff will still be there to welcome me, just as they did on my recent visit.

Area recommendations
I would definitely recommend visiting Karnak and Luxor Temples. The market is also great for buying souvenirs for yourself and friends. It is conveniently located just down the street from the hotel. Sailing on the Nile River while watching the sunset is a "must-do" and was one of my favorite activities while in Luxor.

“A great inexpensive hotel”

The Hotel Nefertiti is a fantastic low-cost option for staying in Luxor. I was on my own and not looking for a pampering experience, just a good hotel room to use as a home-base as I explored the city and out-lying tombs/museums/temples. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable enough to sleep on after a long day on my feet. The restaurant (rooftop and street level) offered good food choices as reasonable prices. The free breakfast was better than expected for such a low-cost hotel. Although there was some noise at night outside (due to the proximity to a market area) that was mostly drowned out by the somewhat noisy AC unit (though that became more a white noise that I used to fall asleep). Two points of note for those looking for comfort: 1) No elevator here, so if you're toting a heavy set of luggage, this might not be for you 2) I'm pretty sure the towels were line-dried, so rather stiff and scratchy. The staff was wonderful though, very considerate and helpful. Overall I found the Hotel Nefertiti to be a wonderful choice.

Area recommendations
The area I stayed in, which is up by the Luxor Temple, seemed ideal to me as it was within walking distance to the Temple, the Luxor Museum and the ferry to the west bank. There was also a market area behind my hotel perfect for bargaining for and picking up gifts/souvenirs.

“Fantastic Experience”

Great location, across the street from the Avenue of the Sphinxes. Wonderful, close view of the Luxor Temple and hot-air balloons from the roof-top terrace. The welcome drinks upon arrival were a nice touch. Good breakfast included. Restaurant just outside the entrance to the hotel. Very helpful staff.

“A pleasant Surprise”

This Hotel is probably a 2 star Hotel by US standards, but it is very convenietly located in the heart of Luxor and very close to the Luxor Temple. The Hotel Manager (Mohammed) was extremely helpful and provided us with very good information. He was honest and gave us tips on the cost for services in the area. He was able to provide tour information and services at a reasonable price. The Hotel was old, but clean. There is no TV or phone in the room, but it was next to the Bazaar and you could feel the pulse of the city from the Hotel. I would definetely recomment this Hotel, specially for the price, location and for the service provided by the Hotel Manager.

Area recommendations
Visit the Luxor Temple and the Karnak Temple during the day. Avoid the Light and Sound Show at the Karnak Temple at night, since it is cheesy and you don't see everything, plus it is difficult to take pictures. Enjoy a Falluka ride to see the Sunset. Visit the Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens and the Temple of Hatshepsut! Also enjoy walking along the Nile. You will be hassled by all sorts of Vendors trying to sell you all sorts of things!

“Trish”

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 5 days and we had a wonderful time. Aladdin and his staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. The hotel is located near alot of things such as the ferry, Luxor temple, Mc Donalds, Snack time and a few atms. All were withing 5-10min walking distance and the train station was like a 10 minute walk. The restaraunt at the bottom was also great. Overall, the staff provided excellent customer service and the rooms were comfortable. We really appreciated how the staff was so eager to help us and kept asking if we needed anything. They were very sincere and friendly and because of them we will definitely be coming back to Luxor.

When to go
Winter was very hot, I can't imagine summer time. It also wasn't busy and there were no lines, so that was great.
Getting there
From the airport, the taxis are there, who know the hotel very well.
Getting around
Hire a driver for the day to the west bank. There are many taxi drivers once you get to the hotel.
Must see
Luxor, Karnak, and everything on the West Bank

“"I was treated like I was staying at a 5 Star Hotel"”

The Hotel Nefertiti was located in Luxor. They were extremely friendly. The Hotel was maybe a 2-3 Star Hotel, but they treated me like I was staying at a 5 Star Hotel! I had not planned anything to do in Luxor and the Tour Planner in the Hotel was extremely helpful and friendly. I was on a budget and he worked with me to make sure I had a great time. I recommend taking the Nile Boat ride that he recommends. It was a nice touch to the end of my trip there. If I new about it I would have done the boat ride more than once. I was only there for two days but stayed there for only one night. I finished trip early and had no where to go. The Tour Planner said that I could hang out in the restaurant located outside the door of the Hotel as long as I wanted without having to order any thing from the menu. This was good because I was running out of money. He also offers travelers a Hot shower and a clean towel to clean up after they have checked out of the hotel with out paying. If you are looking for an inexpensive place to stay for a couple of days in Luxor, Nefertiti Hotel is the place.
