“Not a western 4 star but good location and value for money”

Got a good deal on Expedia - would have been insulted to pay more. Luxor was relatively empty when we visited (Easter holidays) The hotel is located on the Nile - with a great patio and floating pool - It is definitely a long way off a western 4 star but given what else is around, and the location to the Luxor temple and ferry crossing point it is a good choice. Buffet breakfast every morning was standard - egg station, cheese, breads, fruit, cereals etc. (neither one of us had any after effects). Rooms are dated, bathrooms have been upgraded but that seems to be the extent of it. Lobby view room has the distinct advantage of being able to use the wireless from the balcony (and sometimes inside) Internet was reasonable (for 1 hour - which could be used over several days (on your laptop or on one of the 2 hotel computers) - or for unlimited use in a 24 hour period) Luxor temple at night is great (10 min walk), Luxor museum is worthwhile (although the road outside seems to be missing) If you're staying more than a day and want to stock up on food/toiletries Arkwrights on St. Joseph's street is a blessing. Finally HSBC is located outside the building a few steps- you will be only be asked if you want a horse, donkey, husband or taxi 13 times before reaching it :) Hotel staff were helpful and very pleasant -

Must see
You could do Luxor in one long day or two reasonable days. There isn't much else to do for solo women travellers on their own unless they enjoy being harassed. We spent three nights which was at least 1 night too long.

“I won't stay anywhere else but the Iberotel in Luxor!”

Wonderful stay at this hotel. Spent a week with my family, 85 year old mother, sister and her husband. We all agreed that this hotel was superior to the hotels we stayed in Luxor before. Though not as fancy as those we used in the past, this was more comfortable, service superior, atmosphere quaint, situation on the Nile perfect, outdoors manicured, good food. A happy place. Employees seemed very happy. We left with a positive feeling and we will hopefully return to the Iberotel Luxor next year!

“Two sided”

This hotel is fancy in Egyptian standards. We were greeted very well; the staff was fantastic. The restaurant areas incl, the breakfast buffet room were very nice. The hotel room, on the other side, was small, dark and dingy. People smoke freely in most areas; consequently, the air is thick. If I would have known that thi hotel is divided into "inside rooms (facing lobby) and outside rooms", I would definitely recommend the outside room (facing the Nile). The exterior areas of this hotel are very nice.

“A nice place to spend a few days”

We were generally happy with our choice of this hotel for our three-night stay for our family of two adults and two teenagers. It was conveniently located, was nicely maintained and had a great terrace and pool area offering spectacular views of feluccas and sunsets out over the Nile. The rooms were OK, though small, and ours on the street was a bit noisy. The hotel had several restaurants on site that offered good food at decent prices, although service on the terrace was poor. We would use this hotel again, as it was a relatively good value for the price.

Area recommendations
This neighborhood is probably one of the best in terms of location and convenience. Security doesnt seem to be an issue.

“I will come back there anytime”

I was really impressed by the magnitude of these Temples and the good condition of the tumbs found in West Bank I still wonder how those people managed to handle those huge stones and buld these amazing places. Even today with all the high tech machinery and skilled manpower that we have it would be difficult to build these places, a place that has to be seen in a lifetime

“Nice hotel lousy rooms”

The hotel itself was nice, breakfast was good, the rooms left a little to be desired. We paid for a triple room and we got three beds, but the 3rd bed was a roll away and did not have proper bedding. The rooms were outdated, but clean enough. There were no tours organized through the hotel and we had some trouble booking tours which is difficult as everyone wants you to come on their unofficial tours and get you to pay for things you don't want.

Area recommendations
The hotel was walking distance to the luxor temple and dining locations. We enjoyed snack time for it's view of Luxor temple and the coffee. We also enjoyed the rooftop place above snack time.
Other
Don't go on any unofficial tours as they will take you to their friends places and try to keep you there until you buy something (even though they tell you they don't expect you to). Tours through registered tour companies are worth paying for as the tour guides are very professional and never asked us for any more money than the agreed price. We took a horse and carriage ride on our last night to kill some time - the driver agreed to 10 pounds and hour (egyptian) then proceeded to take us to his friends shop (to 'rest' the horse) and to a friends wedding. At the end of the trip - two hours later he told us the cost was 450. Beware of these kinds of dealings.

“A great pick!”

Iberotel is a top quality hotel at a reasonable price. Overlooking the Nile river with the mountains behind, it's a great place to rest and relax and is near to everything. The breakfast buffet is outstanding, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend staying at the Luxor Iberotel Hotel.

“Very impressed”

Swimming pool on the Nile was the highlight! Staff were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet excellent. Room was OK - staff had fun making animals out of towels to leave as a surprise! Bathroom was a bit basic and shower not the best. Location was excellent - within walking distance of everything.

Area recommendations
Everything from Luxor Temple to the Nile, to the west bank to the bazaar. Unfortunately there is no way of avoiding "no hassle" mrechants.
Dining
The Roof restaurant - looks like a takeaway restaurant - but upstairs on 4th floor is a restaurant/ sheesha bar. Lovely inexpensive local food.

“Hotel at a very Convenient location”

Hotel was good, its location is 5 minutes from the Luxor temple. They gave us a packed early breakfast as well . Service was good, Room was clean. The pool is the highlight of this, overlooking the Nile river. Take a cab to Karnak temple. There is a hotel boat , pay the driver abour 20-30 egyptian pounds and he will take you to the west bank, from there you can take a cab to Valley of the kings, Queens, Queen hasheputat temple etc.

Area recommendations
Downtown for the convenience of being close all tourist attractions.
