El-Luxor Hotel offers 306 air-conditioned accommodations, which are accessible via exterior corridors and feature fireplaces and washers/dryers. Balconies open to city, river, or garden views. Each accommodation is individually furnished and decorated. Select Comfort beds feature Egyptian cotton linens, triple sheeting, and down blankets. A pillow menu is available. 21-inch high-definition televisions come with satellite channels and free movie channels. Accommodations at this 4-star hotel have kitchens with stovetops, dishwashers, espresso makers, and coffee/tea makers. Bathrooms include handheld showerheads, bathrobes, slippers, and makeup/shaving mirrors.
In-room wired and wireless high-speed Internet access is available for a surcharge. Business-friendly amenities include desks, laptop-compatible safes, and direct-dial phones. Additionally, rooms feature minibars and welcome amenities. Microwaves and wake-up calls can be requested. Housekeeping is provided daily. Renovation of all guestrooms was completed in December 2009.

“A Qualified Recommendation - If you don't spend much time in your room”
The hotel rooms were very tired for the price of the room (cabinet door hinge that hid fridge was bent so door wouldn't close, everything had many layers of poor pain jobs, carpet stained and worn) Everything was very basic, no hand soap, no shampoo, no guide to TV stations, no guide to hotel amenities in the room. I would have been fine with all of this for a mid to low priced room, but this was a relatively high priced room for Egypt. There is also some confusion about who owns the hotel. All around the hotel it says Mercure, but the sign outside says El-Luxor and when you check the Mercure website, they do not claim it as theirs. On the plus side, the pool was very nice and the location is great.
“Great value for money, great hotel”
This hotel is great! Just opposite the Nile River, its in a great location in Luxor. The bed was very comfortable (had trouble getting up) and the pool was great too. The facilities and service exceeded my expectations especially as the hotel was priced fairly. The room is very clean and all standard facilities are available. Unfortunately I got sick on the holiday but was relieved as there is a doctor on call which was very helpful. He came and saw me the same night that i was ill. Buffet breakfast was what you would expect, tried to have a buffet lunch but the restaurant was empty. Only other option was the Italian Restaurant. Give that a miss and try Soufra restaurant (its about 10 min tax ride from hotel). Overall great hotel for the price; excellent services and location (right next to the Luxor Museum) and thankful for the doctor.
“Good Value recomended”
The hotel is a nice place to stay. Good restaurants within the hotel great location. The Hotel is a little dated but they where doing some renovations while I was staying there. It is clean & the staff are quite competent & helpful. My biggest complaint is that there is no internet in the rooms & the internet that is available, on there 20 year old computers in the lobby, is not worth using (or paying for). Pages take up to 20 minutes to load & the computers crash constantly. There is a good internet cafe about 10 minutes walking distance.
“Not Impressed”
I was a little disappointed with the hotel because the reviews stated otherwise. Hotel is very out-dated especially the rooms. Food was edible but nothing to talk about. Only plus is it is close to town and the cruises. Okay for one night stay on your way to the cruises otherwise I would look for something else.
