“Top notch hotel...”

Superb hotel which on initial impressions seemed a bit off the beaten track but once one conquered the public transport system it was within easy reach of most places of interest. Checking in was a pleasant and informative experience, the room was superb, a mid-evening bar snack was good and breakfast was excellent. The staff were clearly well trained in all aspects of customer service! It's only 150 yards to buses 1, 13, 16 & Eurobus and better still around 30 yards to stop 5 on the hop-on-hop-off city tour bus.

Area recommendations

I liked everywhere that I found in Luxembourg city. I meandered aimlessly and found lots of places of interest - just follow your instinct! The city is superb.

Getting there

Trains to/from Brussels run every hour. You could pay 15-20 euros for a taxi or you could do your homework and jump on a bus from outside the train station.

Getting around

Buses to/from the city centre are regular and efficient. Numbers are 1, 13, 16 and Eurobus. The hop-on-hop-off tourist bus stop #5 is around 30 yards from the hotel door. At 14 euros for 24 hours it's a good deal. If you feel really energetic you could walk into town. Once in the city centre there is a good hub to change to other buses to go further afield but if one wants to walk around the major sights then that is easy too.

“Great hotel”

Modern hotel not in the centre but extremely comfortable with a good range of food available - tapas through to full a la carte. Taxis easy to book and arrive within minutes even at busy periods. Internet not free and was a bit flaky but fast when working. Room very comfortable and the TV has a sleep timer on it - wish every hotel realised the benefit of this feature. Will use this hotel again when next in Luxembourg.

“Decent 3.5 star Hotel in Kirchberg, Luxembourg”

As with my long standing experience with hotels and generally in all service sector businesses in Luxembourg, customer unfortunately is not the king here. So you have to keep your expectations low and somehow forget the price you are paying and behave like you are a guest in their house; then you will really leave a happy man. Physical condition of the hotel is good though, but again, in relative terms.

“Clean and comfort”

Very clean and quite hotel. 20mins to city center by walk along Kennedy av. Parking is 15 euro per 24 hour in the building, but you can park near hotel. Ask to front if it's okay to park overnight. Next to hotel you can find old fort.

“WILL NOT GO BACK IN A HARRY”

ON ARRIVAL THE TOILET WAS SOILED. THE SAFE WAS NOT WORKING AND TOOK 3 ATTEMPTS TO FIX. THE BUSINESS CENTRE WAS NOT EXPLANED PROPERLY

“One satisfied guest”

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights in an 8th floor room at the Melia which was very roomy, clean and comfortable with an excellent walk in shower facility. The hotel is situated adjacent to the impressive Luxembourg Philharmonie concert hall and on the edge of the business centre complex. We ate an excellent and varied breakfast each day at a 50% reduction offer which was operating at the time. The location suited us as we enjoyed the 20-25min walk to the Old Town area, but we also used the exceptional local bus services which were frequent, prompt and very reasonable. The hotel primarily serves the local and visiting busines community, but was ideal for our short visit requirements. Staff were friendly and courteous and the overall experience was very pleasant and relaxing

“Clean, Quiet and restful”

Although not in the thick of things Melia is located next to the concert hall in a park like environment. No traffic to speak of which made for a restful night's sleep. The hotel seemed brand new, very clean, comfortable bed, good sized room and an excellent buffé breakfast. In short, all my needs were met!

“Great hotel”

The hotel is great. Rooms are spacious and very nicely decorated. All is new and extremely neat. Service is excellent as well. The fitness center is correct but does not have any view or external window. The menu at the restaurant should have less sofisticated dishes. Other services (laundry, restaurant, etc.) are expensive. Overall, I strongly recommend this hotel.

“Nice new hotel in Lux, requiring a little fine tuning”

Nice quality hotel, with confortable spacious rooms and friendly staff. On the other hand, restaurant was clearly understaffed on first night which resulted in long wait and bit of frustration. Food was absolutely excellent, and breakfast was also very nice. Package for internet services was fairly priced, but server went down for more than 24 hours. Asked and got discount. Gym was fair, and surrondings allow for a nice easy run around the city. Fairly cheap and reliable alternative to overpriced hotels in Lux.
