“Excellent value”

We were very pleased with the hotel--it is easily within walking distance of the train station and the Grand Place. There are small restaurants nearby which are very reasonable--and clean. Would return.

“Great location”

Nice hotel, nothing fancy but good. The first room we had was very small, just a small double bed but when we told them we wanted 2 single beds, they gave us a great room. The room was pretty big with several windows over looking the train station. The breackfest was ok, not that much but good, the breackfest room was freezing cold. We got at the hotel around 10 am and our room was ready witch is very rare in Europe. The hotel is not in a very bad neighbordhood, when you exit the hotel front door, if you take a right, you're going in the right direction, if you take a left and go up that street, it is a lot of prostitutes and not very clean. We were 2 women traveling by our self and we still felt safe.

Area recommendations
Luxembourg city was beautiful. Get the map from the registration desk and just go see all the points of interest on it. You can go every where from the hotel by foot. The lower part of the city is so pretty.
When to go
I went early October and it was so beautiful with the trees changing colors. But don't go to late because it can get cold and rainy.
Getting there
By train, the hotel is right across from the train station.

“quite tolerable, good value for money”

Convenient location -- near train station (across the street), and so also near the number 16 bus from the airport, which stops at the train station, and just a 15 minute walk into the center of town. The staff were very helpful and always there, the breakfast was plentiful and excellent (except for somewhat low quality croissants in my view). The hotel is a little shabby in the reception areas -- e.g., carpet on stairs worn -- but my room had new (or near new) furniture and was very clean and (though pretty small -- it would be tight for 2 persons) quite comfortable, nice duvets, windows that could open, decent bathroom (though with bathtub with shower attachment, no proper shower). free wireless also great. So overall very good value, and I would definitely stay there again. My only complaint was noise; this was not so bad during the day (despite proximity to train station and to a building under construction) but at night was bad because anyone walking up/down stairs and talking can be heard throughout the hotel (the rooms are arranged in a sort of circle around the stairs and elevator) and so if your fellow guests are out late/talkative, you wake up. But this was a relatively minor complaint; a quite good hotel overall.

Area recommendations
Definitely take a walk through the Vallee de Petrousse -- which stretches more or less west of the center of the city. Beautiful park, lovely views.
Getting there
Number 16 bus from the airport will take you into town for a couple of euros as opposed to the taxis, which are apparently quite expensive and also aim to rip people off (as reported in the luxembourg press when I was there).

“Convenient and central”

I have stayed at the Empire before but this time in Room 45 which was the best so far. Had a good night's sleep - free WiFi is an extra bonus - some hotels in Luxembourg charge for this. Will definitely stay there again.

Area recommendations
Place d'Armes - for its great historic setting and location of a good number of restaurants.

“One day in Luxembourg”

Hotel stay was great. I could walk to the train station and to downtown. My room was rather modern and comfortable. I loved the towels and the set up in the bathroom. Breakfast was very nice and I really liked charming breakfast room and the food. The major drawback was that when I asked to store my laggage after the check out I was told by receptionist to just put it in the foyer since they don't have any room for me. Meanwhile right in front of me 3 customers that were checking in later stored their laggage in a closet that was locked for them. So I ended up storing my laggage at the train station. Overall enjoyed my stay there.

Area recommendations
Downtown is spectacular. The shops, the entertainment and historic landmarks are outstanding.

“centrally located”

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and accommodating but with the windows open in late Spring it was quite noisy during the night. A good plus is that the Empire has free WiFi access and the price also includes a decent buffet-style breakfast. I'll go back there again.

Area recommendations
Place d'Arme - great selection of restaurants and great atmosphere The Grund - the city in the valley - great for a jog or walk thake a coach and discover the country of Luxembourg in 1/2 a day

“Free Imternet, Breakfast inluded, Good Location”

After a long day of train travel, you could even see the sign from the station platform. Good location for early morning departures, good breakfast. A little worn, but majority of staff were freindly and helpful.

“Good location and cozy”

This hotel is a good choice because of the location close to the main train station. Very clean room, a little on the small side. Internet access at the lobby and friendly service. Will recommend to others.

“Good basic hotel”

Hotel is situated right by railway station. It is an easy 15 minutes walk to centre of city. The hotel is a basic one but if that is all you ask of a hotel, like me, then fine. The only major quibble was lack of air con in room which meant room was hot during a hot spell. Breakfast was continental-style only but perfectly adequate.

“not impressive, but practical and good value for an expensive area”

Clean, basic quiet,in older building across from train station. Convieniant to all buses to sites and to airport. Good budget hotel. Lots of inexp. take-outs and delis around, also some nice pubs but young bar scene on weekends after dark. Safe for a prudent woman alone.
