We had an overnight stay in the hotel which was really nice. Friendly staff and a charming hotel with old period features and lots of character (including sloping floors!). The bar area was particularly nice. Our room was lovely, roomy with a 4 poster bed ... we paid a little extra for the room which was worth it. Found out subsequently that it was the bridal suite which would explain it being particularly lovely!
The restaurant had a good menu. The food was nice - I'd say OK, but certainly not exceptional. They had a good wine list - which was very reasonably priced.
The Old Hall is to be recommended as there is plenty of character, lots to see and an interesting history to read. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. Our room was the old chapel which had a quirky shape that had been converted to bedroom and en suite in a sympathetic way. The Hall is set in beautiful gardens and parkland and is very quiet, apart from the bleating of sheep and clucking of hens.
The room was Gorgeous and spacious and very clean. Only complaints I have is the room was facing onto the high street which was a little noisy and staff living above the rooms were heavy footed early on Sunday morning. Other than that it was lovely.
Nice from the outside but terrible inside. The room was very basic, worn out and uncomfortable. I did in fact not stay, but moved to the Greyhound across the road because I could not stand the room or the noise from the pub. The room overlooked the pub car park and some people used it an extension of the pub.
