“best in the city of Lucknow”

This hotel has an impressive foyer and the overall impression is of elegance, It has comfortable rooms, with good breakfast and accommodating staff. As a whole Lucknow was the least charming of the cities we visited in India, but when you need to be there for business this is the place to stay. Quite good value for money when booked ahead on internet. However the pool was disappointing - shallow and cloudy. This hotel is right next to one of Minister Megawati's giant new monumental sites, a great stroll in the evening It is lovely at night, protected and safe for travelers, but be very careful - it is poorly lit and our friend pitched off the edge of the walkway and hurt herself. All the other hotels I saw there were extremely basic.

Area recommendations
This is as good as any of the neighborhoods I saw during our brief stay, safe and quiet, but not very convenient to the center of town.

“Check in was extremely slow. Great Hotel !!!!!”

Taj Hotels sure does strike an outstanding service and customer expectations are definitely met. Great selection of 'dinner choices' and that too comes in with a package - live gazal singers which was very entertaining. Dinning staff were courteous, friendly and jumped at assisting the minute you look their way. The only upsetting experience was Checking In process. We had printouts and confirmation of our bookings via Expedia which we presented to the hotel staff. We reached hotel at 6pm and the Reception staff said that the rooms were not ready and we waited for half an hour before we were handed in with our keys. Reception staff were whispering to each other, trying to allocate us the rooms and I found this experience shocking especially Taj Hotels. Efficiency & effectiveness training could assist. Room service staff were excellent and so were everyone else in the hotel.

“Lucknow & Taj living upto its name, would love to visit again”

Most impressed with the staff, ambience and food. In fact everything was just right.

Area recommendations
Small city but lots of history, gardens. Sights see Hazratganj, Imambara. Would see most places in few days.

“The place to stay in Lucknow”

This is a very good older hotel. The public spaces and grounds are impressive. The service is excellent. The room was dark and the furnishings not completely comfortable. The only way to get around is by car - other than the extensive park-like grounds, there's no local walking environment.
