“Summer 2011”
On arrival the person who attended to our check in was less than friendly. No services or amenities were explained to us. He merely gave us the key and said: 'second floor'. The hotel was situated near the beach and when we booked the hotel we understood that we had access to the beach. What we had not realised is that we had to pay 23 euros each time we wished to use the beach. Two other people on the reception desk were very helpful and friendly, which went some way to make up for the sour receptionist. The hotel is lovely and we had a great holiday.
“Old style butupdated hotel across from main beach”
This is a very nice old style hotel across from the main beach. The rooms are large and have a grand aspect to them. The hotel staff is very helpful. The hotel has an arrangement with the beach concession people, whereby everyone in the room can use the beach and pool for an additional 20 Euros a night. The Hotel has a lovely rooftop terrace, where guests can sunbathe, have snacks and drinks.. with a magnificent view onto the ocean. The breakfast in the main dining room is very good. There is no garage, but the hotel will provide stickers for street parking at 10 Euros for 24 hours.
“Enjoyed our stay in Viareggio!”
The location of the Palace Hotel was fantastic because we were minutes from the beach and we found the swimming facilities, beachfront, and water to be the best in the Mediterranean during our trip. The room and bathroom were very large, modern, and clean, the air conditioning worked, and we loved the private balcony. Our one concern was the parking issue. The hotel advertises that it offers parking, but we found out that this is not as it seems as we had to park several blocks away from the hotel.
“Viareggio, Itlay relaxing and beautiful!”
Beautiful beach, great food. Beautiful hotel and nice location. We would definitly go back. Upgrade to the 4th floor, its worth it.
“Would try to stay again at the same hotel.”
The hotel was excellent for friendlyness and quality of room and bathroom. Had excellent breakfastg choices. Location is excellent for easy acess to bus station and railroad station. Only disappointment was the one evening we tried the hotel's restaurant. There were only two other couples in the restaurant and yet we had to wait over one hour to be served. Nothing really special cooked for us. Would not go back to the hotel's restaurant which is separate from where breakfast is served. However, the same wait staff and pretty slow in morning asking us for our beverage order. We stayed 13 days and several tiems we had to go to wait staff to order beverage. The reception staff most helpful. The hotel has a beautiful terracne overlooking the ocean.
“Palace Hotel”
Staff were very helpful. Hotel was a bit old and rustic, though the bed was comfortable. However, English TV option was only Fox News, which after the second day became a bit grating. Installing Sky for BBC News might be worth considering. Food in the hotel was reasonable but very expensive, thought for the price it would taste better. Viareggio as an experience was expensive, food was mediocre in most restaurants and expensive, though there was a nice Pizzeria on Via Leonardo Da Vinci. Would I go again, NO! though if you went during season you may get a better experience.
“Would stay again, be wary about the others”
After reading severl reviews on the Palace Hotel, I was a bit wary about choosing it, but in the end, it came down to price, and I managed to book the Palace (albeit in the off-season) for cheap rate, which, it turned out, was an amazing bargain. I'll just say that, in comparison to the other hotels of its calibre, I probably paid about 1/3 (or less) of the going price. While in Viareggio, most of the other hotels were closed for the season, but, from all outward appearances, I would be cautious about booking any of them, or trusting their so-called star ratings. The Palace, while not luxurious (again, dont believe any of the stars they give there) was just right for what I needed. Old-style luxury maybe, but very nice all around. The service was excellent. The only drawback as I saw it was the lack of certain modern conveniences, such as an alarm clock which I needed, but internet would have also been nice. But I take it this type of hotel caters to a clientele beyond my means (and years). If you can get it for a good rate, definitely go for it. I would again in a heartbeat.
“Nice location”
The hotel is located in a nice location. The price of the hotel is a little high. The balcony bar level is very nice on top and great view. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom, the shower did not have a cover. The breakfast was awesome. They provided internet downstairs without a charge which was nice and english speaking staff.
“Colazione da sogno”
Torno in questo hotel tutti gli anni per lucca comix, la colazione dell'hotel me la sogno tutto l'anno!
