Welcome to Laos

Posted 06-May-2014
Pros: The hotel is charming, all made of wood (teck, I think) walls and floors. Beautiful lobby and rooms
Location: The hotel is just a few minutes away from downtown, a short walk to Phusi market and to a must-see crafts centre/restaurant by the River (Ock Pop Tok)
The hotel owner and her son run this place and made us feel welcome from the start, with a welcome drink. They were very helpful in helping us figure out how to get things done in Laos: excursions, information etc. They have a bunch of sturdy bikes that they loan out to their guests free of charge. In just a few minutes of an easy ride, you're in the heart of the town. Even though public transport is very easy, I appreciated the bike. It made it easy to come back to the hotel mid-day. The hotel also offers frequent shuttles to and from downtown, so transport is no problem The room was clean. The bed comfortable. A groovy bath which was very welcome after a trek. I don't hesitate to recommend this place. Also, we were there during water festival, which was a place. The hotel owner even helped us get in on the fun by providing a couple of buckets!

A very comfortable place of great hospitality

Posted 21-Mar-2014
Pros: I liked most the hospitality, the friendly attitude of the manager, the excellent breakfast, the free bikes and the committment to the customers.
Cons: Everything OK, but wifi could be better.
Location: All the movement ys downtown, which is less than a mile from Vangsavath Hotel. There is a shuttle several times a day, and also free bikes.
I had an excellent experience because I felt fully inside a very big tradiitonal Lao house, fresh and shiny, with lots of furniture, all the place decorated with dark wood. All was peaceful, as my room was far away from the entrance.

Excellent clean and friendly hotel.

Posted 13-Mar-2014
Pros: Family friendly hotel. The bed is excellent just like stay in 5 star hotel.
Location: It is close enough to the town that you can ride a bicycle to only takes 10 mins. It close to all the convenient restaurants and night market.
This hotel is very convenient close to the town. The hotel offers free bicycle and shuttle services. I found hotel room is very quiet at night and breakfast is ok. There are several options to choose from. There is a garden in the back that nice to walk through and peaceful. The room d├ęcor is traditional style with real nice wood design. We like it a lot. Staffs are excellent and helpful.

Welcoming hotel stay in Luang Prabang.

Posted 02-Mar-2014
Pros: Welcoming attitude and eager to please.
Location: Location may be a negative for some, but shuttle bus and free bicycle service compensates for this. Can be a + as it exposes u to locals not falangs.
Warm reception throughout our entire stay at the V Hotel in LP. Hotel is set in generous grounds some 2 kms away from the central LP Post Office which is the drop off and pick up point for the hotels regular shuttle service to centre of town and night markets, restaurants. Personal service from attentive staff hard to fault.

NEVER GOING BACK!

Posted 27-Feb-2014
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Let the guests know the poor security of their property in the room. Sourt out the Wi Fi
Location: Very far from the center. You have to rely on tuk-tuk transport. NOTHING to visit near by.
Very, very, very NOISY! Very loud disco until early hours and from 5.30am the crowing of dozens of cockerels... Wi Fi was always unreliable or disconnected. Television didn't work At breakfast there was always something missing And most important, NEVER leave your valuables in the room!!!!! Use the safety box at reception!!!

Noisy overpriced hotel, to far out of town.

Posted 12-Feb-2014
Pros: Staff pleasant, free shuttle bus
Even though the staff tried hard to please this hotel is way to expensive for what it offers, we stayed here thinking it would be nice and quiet to be away from the tourist hub. It proved to be exceptionally noisy and we wished we had of booked in town where it was much more relaxing.

A half hour walk from town center

Posted 05-Feb-2014
Pros: Very attentive staff and owner
Cons: Beautiful woodwork in room but needs polishing. Towels and sheets while clean, are discolored with age.
Location: On a main road but a half hours walk away from town center.
Vangsavath Hotel is pleasant enough. Very courteous, attentive and friendly staff. There are two drawbacks to the hotel. The condition of our room while spacious, clean and neat, is in need of a little sprucing up. It is a bit far from the town center ( half hour walk away). However the management does provide guests with free transport to the town center almost hourly during the day.

Out of Town

Posted 01-Feb-2014
The staff was outstanding; nothing else was. We paid US $60 for 3 adults; very cold room in January--no heat except an extra blanket which wasn't large enough to cover two normal sized adults. Breakfast had some choices, but foods which should be hot sat unheated on the buffet table in the open - air breakfast area. Grout on the shower floor needed serious cleaning. At least all day and evening hot tea and coffee were available. Hotel offered free scheduled shuttle into town center. Location was away from central area, so airport taxi and tour company pickup charged more money. Ear plugs are helpful as a nearby cafe plays loud music. There are so many in town options, that we cannot recommend this hotel.

Charming, family hotel - very helpful owner

Posted 28-Jan-2014
The star of this hotel is the exceptionally helpful and friendly owner Pau. He made every effort to make everyone's stay enjoyable. From his introductory presentation about Luang Prabang when we first arrived, to him waving us off on departure - he's a gem. We chose the hotel itself for its good value for money. The only drawback for this was that it wasn't located right in the city centre, but that didn't matter much because bicycles are free to borrow, and there's a good hotel shuttle bus. The room facilities perfectly adequate - hot water, fridge, air con, wifi, and they put out mosquito repellent every evening. Buffet breakfast is generous and tasty. All round - a lovely place and we'd recommend it.
