Great value for money hotel, suitable for families

Posted 10-Oct-2014
I stayed at this hotel for 10 days with my 14 year old son. The hotel is run by a lovely family who can not do enough to help you. The building is quite beautiful - lots of wood and polished floors throughout. Tea and coffee were available all day in the breakfast room, as were free bananas. The rooms are serviced daily and include free bottled water, shampoo and conditioner. TV is available in all rooms, as is free wireless. There is also a desktop to use if you do not have your own laptop or device. The hotel is about 2kms out of the main town - a straight walk which takes about 30 minutes. The hotel has a free shuttle service though if you do not wish to walk. We enjoyed walking into town, as we saw a lot of typical Lao life. Also, about halfway into town you come across Luang Prabang's main market (Phousi market) on the right and on the left (almost opposite) is the small laneway that leads to Op Pop Tok, a traditional weaving centre that also has a relaxing café where you can try silk worm poo tea and a range of delicious food. We also walked from the hotel to the UXO museum (took about 30 minutes). The free breakfast is excellent - pancake, French toast, omelette or fried egg, fruit and bread.

A Truly Lovely Place

Posted 16-Jun-2014 on Hotels.com
I stayed in Vangsavath for 4 days. The owner and her son together with the rest of the staff gave a warm welcome. On arrival I was offered a cold drink, taken on a sofa and provided a comprehensive intro as to activities in the vicinity of the hotel & Luang Prabang. My room was spacious and clean furnished with lovely traditional furniture. The air con worked efficiently. The hotel is slightly outside the town centre but don't let that put you off: the hotel has a free minivan transfer service and bikes (I would recommend the latter: it makes a nice but early morning trip to the town centre to see the monks collecting early morning donations). Also, the place is close to the local market which makes an interesting explore. The breakfast cannot be faulted and there are plenty of free fruit & coffee and tea available throughout the day. The staff here goes for the extra mile and it's all done with a genuine smile. A truly relaxing and enjoyable stay.

A good choice for Luang Prabhang

Posted 02-Jun-2014 on Hotels.com
Vangsavath Hotel was a very good choice. The buildings and rooms are clean and attractive, with a quiet garden with blossoming trees. But the best feature is the genuine and caring service from the mother and son who own and manage the hotel, who do all they can to make your stay enjoyable. It is a bit away from town, which adds to the quiet, but there is no problem because they provide convenient transport round trip at no charge.

Best service we have had during our 3 month trip in SE ASIA! Very friendly staff, made us feel like family! Free shuttle bus into town, often on request at any time. Also free pick up! Good breakfast, clean and tidy rooms. Would reccomend this hotel to anyone visiting Luang Prabang.

Welcome to Laos

Posted 06-May-2014
Pros: The hotel is charming, all made of wood (teck, I think) walls and floors. Beautiful lobby and rooms
Location: The hotel is just a few minutes away from downtown, a short walk to Phusi market and to a must-see crafts centre/restaurant by the River (Ock Pop Tok)
The hotel owner and her son run this place and made us feel welcome from the start, with a welcome drink. They were very helpful in helping us figure out how to get things done in Laos: excursions, information etc. They have a bunch of sturdy bikes that they loan out to their guests free of charge. In just a few minutes of an easy ride, you're in the heart of the town. Even though public transport is very easy, I appreciated the bike. It made it easy to come back to the hotel mid-day. The hotel also offers frequent shuttles to and from downtown, so transport is no problem The room was clean. The bed comfortable. A groovy bath which was very welcome after a trek. I don't hesitate to recommend this place. Also, we were there during water festival, which was a place. The hotel owner even helped us get in on the fun by providing a couple of buckets!

They Go the Extra Distance to Make You Comfortable

Posted 07-Apr-2014 on Hotels.com
The downside was the hotel was further away from the market than indicated, but DO NOT let that stop you! The staff was extremely friendly and did everything to make us feel at home. Bikes usage is free, and the night market and downtown a quick 2 km away. A free shuttle service into town was available. Paul arranged a trip to the waterfall for us, and shared a wealth of knowledge about the area….all with a warm smile and great English. Would go back again.

Very nice stay in Luang Prabang

We had two nights at the hotel. The staff must be the nicest in the city and even if it is 3 km from the center, this is no problem as there is a shuttle bus or bikes for free. The manager will let you know about the possibilities for day trips and we highly recommend the big waterfalls! Many thanks for a great time, we would definitely stay here again!!

A great experience in Luang Prabang

Posted 23-Mar-2014 on Hotels.com
Both mother and son owners made us feel very welcome during our stay. From the first day they provided us with information, asked about our day and went out of their way to help us, for example by personally dropping us off in the town centre when our tour started earlier than the shuttle bus timetable. The hotel itself is older but is kept clean. The free shuttle bus to and from the town centre, in addition to the free bike hire was very useful. While the location isn't as central as other hotels, the level of service was second to none, and we would definitely stay at Vangsavath again.

A very comfortable place of great hospitality

Posted 21-Mar-2014
Pros: I liked most the hospitality, the friendly attitude of the manager, the excellent breakfast, the free bikes and the committment to the customers.
Cons: Everything OK, but wifi could be better.
Location: All the movement ys downtown, which is less than a mile from Vangsavath Hotel. There is a shuttle several times a day, and also free bikes.
I had an excellent experience because I felt fully inside a very big tradiitonal Lao house, fresh and shiny, with lots of furniture, all the place decorated with dark wood. All was peaceful, as my room was far away from the entrance.
