Dining

Trellis Cafe - Located in the atrium, this casual restaurant serves American staples such as burgers, sandwiches and pasta, as well as a breakfast buffet. Open for breakfast and lunch Monday-Saturday and brunch on Sunday.

Pepper's Bar - With a large-screen TV as its focal point, Pepper's serves as the hotel's lounge and sports bar. Serving dinner with mostly pub fare, with a few main dishes, plus beer, wine, and cocktails.

The new restaurant and bar, Sway, will open in April 2012. Bagels and alternate breakfast/bar options will be available in the hotel during the renovation period of Pepper's Bar and Trellis Café.

In-room dining will be available for lunch in addition to breakfast and dinner from December 2011 to April 2012.

“Missing some basics”

A Hyatt Regency property that does not even have a mini-fridge in the guest room? Having grown up in Louisville and remembering when the Hyatt Regency was "the" hotel in downtown Louisville, we were disappointed to find that the amenities - in particular, an in-room refrigerator - were not what we expected. We stayed in the hotel for the better part of a week as our "home base" for touring the area and in terms of access, centrality, it is very convenient. The presence of panhandlers at the front street entrance in the evenings, and the lack of almost any night life in the neighborhood were also disappointing, and so we took our evening "walking tours" off our schedule.

Area recommendations

Downtown Louisville is fine during the day. For night life, try the Highlands or Hurstbourne. Also, if you have a rental car and can spend the day, drive down to Bardstown for the Bourbon Trail.

“fine for a quick business trip”

Didn't get to see much;arrived late, left early, but the staff was outstanding in their ability to make you feel welcome and cared for. Alise especially!

“Old and outdated but excellent service from staff”

Hotel staff excellent!, room service was the fastest and friendliest I've ever had and I travel 3-4 times a week. Hotel is in much need of renovation!! Old, outdated and compared to Hilton and Marriott in same area, they are much nicer!

“nice, but noisy”

The location was great and within walking distance of everything we wanted to do. The room was nice and clean. The only complaint we have is the noise at night. The center of the hotel is an open atrium with the rooms sorrounding it. This causes the noise from below to carry up quite a bit. Both nights we were there it was very noisy past midnight.

“would stay there again”

the staff was super friendly! i must have called the desk 5 times asking for directions, getting food, new pillows bc im allergic to down, locating the hair dryer, and where to print my boarding pass, they were ALWAYS prompt and friendly!! and the bed was like heaven i woke refreshed and ready to start my day!

“Dated, Rundown and Noisy”

All rooms open to the lobby, making it extremely noisy. We were awakened both nights we stayed here by the noise. It is very dated and looks like it hasn't been updated since the 80's. The security guard was helpful, as we had to call on him several times. The area around the hotel is a bit sketchy and not well lit in the back we were approached by beggars asking for money.
