“Great Louisville Hotel”

Hotel is very trendy and modern without sacrificing traditional room comforts. Lots of restaurant and bar options nearby, but I would highly recommend the hotel restaurant and bar, Proof on Main. Hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Basically everything at the hotel was modern from the in-room coffee makers to the brand new iMacs in the business center. Was worried that it was a little far from the Louisville airport for a 6am flight, but drive time was only 10 minutes. Will definitely stay here again.

“Lousville's very best experience”

This hotel is stunning in every way. It is both comfortable and chic--two traits that don't always mesh. The staff, from the valets to the front desk to the housekeepers, were personable and genuinely concerned about the quality of our stay. The restaurant, Proof on Main, is worth a special visit, too. And you must save room for dessert!

“MIXED MESSAGES”

We may find it difficult to truly define "art;" however, we have no trouble defining creepy and bizarre. The pedophilia "art" (nude, anatomically correct, small children - statuary above the check-in desk) is just creepy. Some of the exhibits can be seen as whimsical but some are frankly, just sad. The hotel staff is outstanding in trying to correct difficulties with Expedia reservations; however, such corrections would not be necessary if their reservation system worked as it should. When scheduling through Expedia, they do not automatically honor the reservation for King Rooms. They indicate that two-doubles satisfy the request as it appears in their in-house system. It is obviously not the fault of those dealing with the public - it is a management prolem. The desk personnel will do all in their power to make you happy and satisfy your requests.

“Very artsy!”

Excellent service and very chic rooms-not posh, but cool. A little Manhattan in KY! May not be suitable for families - some avant garde art exhibits.Restaurant Proof was great for dinner too.

“cool, modern, downtown gem”

This hotel is also a museum, and it contains evocative exhibits that give it a very cool, modern vibe. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful - the woman at the check in desk gave us several spot on suggestions for interesting sights and activities in town.

“Will return”

Amazing art museum with interesting art pieces in every room and hallway. Well worth the money and drive from the airport to stay in this artistically adorned hotel. Even has a great bar and restaurant plus it's located downtown in the heart of museum row.

“Best hotel I have even stayed in.”

This hotel was absolutely amazing. The hotel is an art museum and it shows as soon as you enter the lobby. The room was so comfortable and clean. Hotel staff kept our room filled with everything needed to enjoy the stay. Food in food hotel restaurant was to die for. Location is right downtown and within walking distance to many ecclectic businesses from coffee shops to Army/Navy store. The city is working hard to preserve the original architecture of the downtown. The overall feel of the city is art and creativity. We had an amazing experience. I would stay there again in a minute.

Area recommendations
We traveled all over Louisville. I would recommend that anyone visiting this city, get in your car and explore. You won't be disappointed.
When to go
We went over Labor Day weekend. The city has a World Fest at the KFC Yum center. The fest bring food, music, dance and crafts from around the world/multiple culture. It was cool. The downtown was hopping with activity.

“Mostly Good but there was a BIG disappointment-the bathroom”

Love the art. The room is like any other 3 star hotel room with no view. The big disappointment: there was NO bathtub, and the shower stall was filthy. I usually never do this but it was so surprising that I took pictures of it. (If any one wants to see these pics, I am more than happy to share them.) To boot, there was absolutely no water pressure. (took a shower with flip-flops under a drizzle of water. So much for a luxury experience.) If you are looking for a 4 star hotel, go elsewhere and then just visit the museum part of 21C.

Area recommendations
For the arts: Go downtown For eats: either downtown, or the eclectic restaurants on Bardstown Rd. To stay: Downtown is nice but is a ghost town most weeks out of the year, even with 4th street live going on, there's not much happening at night. Marriot, Hyatt (wonderful views), Brown hotels downtown are nice. Again as a hotel, 21C is not worth the money unless you want a less than ideal experience when you shower, not bathe. If you are not picky about being near tourist spots, some of the hotels near the airport are very nice, affordable, and comfortable: Hilton Garden Inn, Marriott Residence inn, etc.
Events and shows
Kentucky Center for the Arts is wonderful.

“Anniversary Staycation”

We chose the 21c Museum Hotel as our one night stay for our wedding anniversary. It is quite pricey, but we lucked out and got a deal through Expedia's Top Secret Hotel Deals. I was slightly intimidated at first and worried that the staff would be....well, snobby. It was quite the opposite. Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming. We didn't dine at the restaurant, but I'm sure it would have been wonderful as well. the little touches everywhere really made it stand out...I love the decor and it was so nice to stay somewhere a little different, instead of the average 4 star hotel. We were very pleased! We would love to go back!
