“Disappointed”
We spent the week after Thanksgiving at the Marquis. It is a beautiful location. Don't plan on swimming in the beach, it is never recommended. You can swim at the Hilton, which is a short walk up the beach from the Marquis. The hotel seemed to be no more than 20% occupied during the week and maybe 50% on the weekend. We loved the first floor casita. Only a few steps to a lounge chair next to the infinity pool. The view was very nice. We saw a few whales during the day and lovely sunsets each night. The staff was very attentive and wanted to please. Our room was kept immaculate by the maid. We never lacked for a drink or food when sitting by the pool. The hotel was recently acquired by Secrets. This may have caused some management and maintenance issues. The "heated" pools were so cold no one could stay in them. The only place colder was the hot tubs in the spa. The hot tubs were unusable for most of our stay. We had one meal the fine dining restaurant and it was disappointing. I bought the "all inclusive" - this was not a good deal. The wine they include was simply awful. I tried to order bottles of wine from the wine list ( all were at least $100). They didn't have most of what was on the list. We had to go elsewhere for dinner. Breakfast and lunch were OK, but nothing was great. Frankly the staff looked embarrassed, so i suspect that it it taking some time to adjust to the new management. I hope they can sort out these issues.
“Expected better”
We spent four nights in a casita. The hotel was gorgeous and has a stunning view of the Sea of Cortez. The staff was hard working and dedicated. Our room was kept immaculate by the maid. The massages were heavenly. We never lacked food or drink as we lounged by the infinity pools. Unfortunately, the "heated" pools were so cold no one could swim in them. The only thing colder were the hot tubs which were not usable for most of our stay. The fine dining restaurant food was disappointing. The house wines there were simply awful. When we tried to order from the wine list hardly a bottle could be found. Secrets purchased the hotel weeks before our arrival. Maybe that is why the hotel is struggling. I wanted it so much go be better. - Disappointed
“I am returning to Marquis as soon as I can !!!”
My only regret was I didn't have longer to stay. This is a quality hotel/resort from accommodations to cuisine!
“Can't wait to go back”
One of the best hotels i stayed . We will defenately go back.

“beautiful hotel”
Very nice hotel. Excelent rooms. Great. Amazing view from the rooms! There are only 2 problems for me: 1) The beach in front is very dangerous , you can't enter the water. Then you need to get a car and go to other beach. 2) we were 4 in the room, sharing beds. The 2 double beds are very small. But if its not your case, what a room! The staff is very nice. The food is great too.
“Great week.”
We stayed at the Marquis the first week of April 2011. The staff was wonderful. Hotel property is clean and beautiful. Room, poolside, front desk, restaurant, and all other forms of service is top shelf. Great property for adults without children. Quiet, and not as frenetic as other hotel properties we visited during the week. The only liability of this property is proximity to other areas of interest. If you don't rent a car, taxi costs can pile up if you go off property.
“Wonderful Resort”
The resort is very well managed and maintained. It doesn't have the same curb side appeal as the Westin, but once you are inside it is much nicer. The service is top notch and the accommodations are first class. The food at all of the restaurants is excellent. Interesting preparations and very well prepared. A meal the prix fix restaurant, Canto del Mar, is an absolute must. The beach is quite expansive and great for very long walks. However, on account of the undertow, swimming is not recommended. Fortunately, there is a calm beach that is about a ten minute walk down the beach.
“loved it”
This was a beautiful facility, loved the infinity pools, beautiful grounds, nice rooms, loved the coffee and muffins every morning, very nice helpful staff, could not be better
“Absolutely wonderful experience”
From the moment we arrived at the Marquis it had it all. The brochures don't do it justice. The staff were fantastic, helpful and happy. The facilities exceptional and the food service first class. Our room had ocean views (as do all rooms) and the ammenities were perfect. A great way to finish or start a holiday in Mexico.
