“Beautiful”

This resort was beautiful and the beds were so comfortable (which is a big bonus in Mexico). The service and staff was great. My only complaint is that the pool was freezing! Too cold for all the kids, which makes for a long vacation since the ocean is too dangerous for wee ones. Other than that I would totally stay here again.

“Paradise in San Jose del Cabo!”

It was my first trip to Cabo and the Barcelo did not disappoint at all. The weather was fabulous and the resort was perfect. Great location, a wonderful staff, and excellent food and drinks included. I can't wait to go back.

“Paradise in Cabo”

This is my third time in this hotel, needless to say we love it! Some minor issues are with service and it just seems that they can't quite get to the North American or European level that we have come to expect with a almost 5 star rating. This is a European owned chain however in my opinion they would rate maybe a 3.5 as far as level of service goes. They have great restaurant choices...the French was excellent and we had very pleasant service however rushed. The Spanish; both my appetizer and entre were over cooked and service was rushed. The Italian was good food and extremely rushed, the server almost threw the plate on the table. This was reminiscent of my last visit. The Japanese was fun and service was good; not so rushed as we were the last sitting. The most disappointing part of this trip was that the main pool where they have the water aerobics and swim up bar was way too cold and apparently this is an ongoing complaint. The facility itself is beautiful and is located on a beach that is great for walking, horseback riding, etc. Swimming is at your own risk. It is hard not to expect perfect when you are looking for a 4.5 Star Experience. I just think we have to expect that service at the all inclusive's are not up to par with other 4 or 5 star rating hotels in NA or Europe which is reflected in the price. Will be back!

“Loved Barcelo!!”

The Barcelo resort was absolutely beautiful. What was best was the service, the staff was very friendly. Great atmostphere, very clean and great food options. The only restaraunt we would not recommend would be The Hacienda. However we did notice that you do receive a different level of service based on the color of your bracelet iex.... better seating and reservation times. The rooms are spacious, and the resort is very clean. Several reviews said the beach was not swimable but we were able to. That's where we spent the majority of our time, we didn't find the need to leave the resort at all. Several activies and amenities that keep you entertained. The spa was relaxing but very small. Overall it was still a good experience, by far the best hotel in San Jose!!

When to go

Definately stay during the low season. October/November if your into relaxation. The resort is about half full which makes it less crowded. There was plenty of seating available at the pool, the weather was 85 every day, and the pool wasn't crowded.

“great experience - everything exceeded our expectations”

This is a very well run resort in a great location. Every interacation we had with every employee was great, and the facilities are outstanding. Great choices in food, activities, and a variety of places to hang out. Location is on a fantastic long stretch of pristine beach and also about 30-45 min walk along a quiet safe street to center of San Jose that has lots of shops, art galleries, and nice restaurants.

“Best all-inclusive hotel!”

This hotel, by far, was the most impressive hotel. Hotel employees were very kind and courteous. The faciilities were new, modern, and clean. Foods were excellent!! I had to refrain myself from eating too much. The hotel is located next to beautiful sandy beach. Water was warm enough to get in (they don't recommend swimming due to high currents). I have a 6 year old boy who loved to play in the water with a boogy board, riding currents. The only negative review I have about this hotel is pool water temperature. All the pools are beautiful and clean, but water was too cold to even dip my feet.

“Great Wedding Spot”

Getting there

Do not prebook the shuttle. It is cheaper to cab if you know to barter. $20 for cab $5 for the toll fee, only 15 min ride. Shuttles are usually $30+ and make many stops.

What to pack

For women, they had blowdryer, hair-straightener, iron, mini sew kit, bath salts, already in the rooms. For men, they had ipod hook up in the room connecting to tv or to side table alarm.

“great decors but understaffed in pool area”

Just got back from our 6 days vacation. Had a great time there enjoying the hotel. The ocean water is actually warmer than the pool. Pool water is a bit too cold for the kids to play. And there a very few people in the pool. The jacuzzi was broken too. So pool play is completely out this time which is a bummer! We asked the staff about it. It took forever to get a response from them that the jacuzzi is broken. The restaurant staff is great, but the pool area is so so. Wished that you can eat alongside the pool. The French restaurant is my favorite. Wished they have more choices in the buffet. Was a bit sick of the food after 3 days of continuous buffet in the same restaurant. Love the rooms. Very roomy and clean and nice decor! The room service was great. They even got a playpen for my 7months old boy.

Getting there

it costs us $100 taxi for 11 to go to the hotel but only $40 to go back to airport. Make sure you don't call taxi inside. maybe it's cheaper to call when you get out of airport. not sure, but guess it's only worth $50 as the distance is only about 20minutes

“Barcelo was amazing”

This was our third time to Cabo San Lucas and eventhough we have enjoyed the previous two this was by far the best hotel. We will be returning in about 6 months and plan on bringing the whole family.
