“Excellent Choice!”

I am absolutely thrilled with this hotel. The staff was extraordinary, everything was clean and comfortable. Loved the bed and pillows! We got a King suite - but I learned later there is a King suite with a spa - but I had prepaid for the room so I couldn't upgrade. I was still very happy with my choice. There's an indoor pool and spa, which I used - the pool's not heated though. There's also a small fitness center. They have a Bistro in the lobby area that had a full bar with some booths that had their own TVs - nice touch. They also had an entertainment area with a large screen TV which would be great for large groups to hang out, or to send the older kids! There are 2 downsides which have nothing to do with the hotel itself, but could affect your stay. The neighborhood is not so nice, so if you like to go for a walk, it's probably not the best area. And the side of the hotel we were on faced the freeway, and on the other side of the freeway is a pretty busy train track. The noise doesn't bother us - we barely noticed it with the windows closed - but if this is a concern, make sure you ask for the other side of the hotel. There was a Carrow's restaurant on the same block, which is like an upscale Denny's. The freeway access was right there. Overall, I was extremely happy and would stay there again.

“Impressed!”

Impressed and their Bistro Cafe had tasty food! What let down was the indoor pool that stunk like chlorine. I did not like that at all.

“Good Accomodations”

The only draw back on the hotel itself was that the pool was out of order. Really wanted a swim after a hard day of traveling. I realize that those things do happen. Other than that the location could have been a little better. Theinterior of the hotel was very nice and the bar/eating area was very impressive.

“Merced ain't so bad”

I go to Merced for business purposes (traveling from the Bay Area), and I have not looked forward to an over-night stay when a hearing (I'm a lawyer) goes more than one day. But, the hotel was convenience to the County administration building. I really liked the little cafe in the lobby. Once I'm done for the day, I don't really want to get back in my car and try to find someplace where I can dine by myself. The cafe was perfect. I had a nice salad and watched TV in one of the private booth-type places. Nice wine selection, especially the wine and appetizer specials. In the morning, I got some breakfast, first thinking I would eat it there, but time got by me and the folks at the cafe were totally OK with switching to a "to go" selection. I also really liked the calorie count that is posted at the cafe. If all places did this, I swear I'd weigh 10 pounds less (O.K., five). Overall, it is great to have a really nice place in Merced. I hope to be back soon! cv

“Nice experience”

This is a new hotel, and as expected it was pleasant and functional. The staff was friendly. Had a problem with the Internet connection in my room as did at least one other guest at the time. Front desk did what they could: gave me a new cable and the tech service phone number. The cable made no difference, and I wasn't up for putting any more effort into the situation.

“Plesant hotel in Merced”

The hotel staff was welcoming and the room was spacious and sparkling clean. The kids loved the indoor pool. I also enjoyed the exercise room. Internet access was good and the lobby provided computers and a printer. Breakfast is not free, but it is good if you prefer a hearty morning meal. Otherwise, we drove down Main Street to Starbucks for their morning special. This hotel has the annoying habit of tagging your credit card with incidental charges. These "pending" charges disappear off your card in a few days if you don't actually use the "pending" items. Other hotels sometimes do this as well and you will only notice it if you view your credit card statement on-line. To conclude, Marriot Courtyard in Merced was great. I will look into other Marriots when I travel.
