“Needs a few major improvements”
knew what I was getting into - room was big bathroom was small - lobby was nice. Hotel or Motel is a repainted to look hip - well so its a hip dump. Noisy as well so bring ear plugs and pillows the pillows were much to soft The restaurant was OK The valet was waaaaay slow and they dented the door on my rental lucky for me a small dent. Ah well I hope the downtown location is actually a nice place to stay.
“The party hotel”
A great solution for people that want to have nice time and party at the hotel. Good balance price and quality.
“A Standard Above”
This was my second visit to Th Standard Hollywood and I wasn't disappointed. I love the funky vibe, and the laid back atmosphere. The rooms are pretty basic, but very 70's chic, with Warhol "Poppies" curtains, funky beanbags and a platform bed. The room also had a flatscreen tv and the bathrooms are functional. You're right on the Sunset Strip so there are clubs and restaurants nearby, and the shopping of Melrose & the Beverly Center are just down the hill. I'd definitely go back.
“Can't wait to go back!”
Fun, modern, great location and awesome pool!
“Nice hotel great for the price”
Nice cheaper than Mondrain, 1/2 the price 3/4 as nice. I like staying there.
“glorified sunset hotel !! I would stay there again”
I made reservations for a bigger room, so I would enjoy it with my wife. they put us in the ground floor ! large room, it doesn't look like a hotel room. it looks like a large studio apartment ! the bathroom is very small. you could barely stand in the tub let alone get a bath ! the view is nice .. the bar is nice.. but I wouldn't recommend staything there !
“The Standard....about right...”
The Standard is just that...it's not spectacular and it's not exactly sub-standard, it's just meh. The decor and set-up of the hotel and rooms are minimalist and rather low-quality. The bathrooms have cool tile work, but the fixtures are all very cheap, dirty and dated. The carpet reminds of something that would be in a Best Western. Usually, it's loud with music pumping in the front and back of the hotel so definitely keep that in mind. You have no choice, but to use their $30/night valet service which sucks...big time, but the valet guys are fast and nice enough. The bar areas are nice. The drinks are nothing special and definitely overpriced. The pool area is always busy and one time I went there were a DJ playing good music, but the last time I went there was an old woman sunbathing topless in plain view of everyone. Awesome! (not)
“awesome hollywood retro hotel”
the service and atmosphere of this hotel was awesome! loved the hollywood retro vibe. Sitting by the pool for happy hour appetizers and drinks was the best!
“Standard”
Everything was great. Location, cleanliness throughout, bar at lobby with open kitchen 24 hr., customer service. Except for valet parking: didn't expect to pay $35 per day extra.
“I loved it but with one caveat”
The hotel is fabulous, cool, trendy with all the hollywood vibe you could ever imagine. I could see myself living in this room as an appartment. One serious problem though, and we sprung for a superior room with a great view balcony, the floors are incredibly creakey. I mean every step you take can be heard below and the couple above seemed to be running around the room all night with their personal herd of bison. It was really crazy, such a beautiful hotel ruined by interal noise.
