“Loved this hotel, amazing room, perfect stay.”
Stayed at this hotel for 1 night with a friend. If you have to be in Downtown LA, this should be your pick. For us the location was a little less convenient, so I'd pick the Standard in W Hollywood next time. But our stay here was perfect. Friendly and helpful staff, design of hotel and rooms are cool, view from room was great and the terrace with pool amazing. And the bed was huge...
“Funky Retro Styled Hotel with an awesome Rooftop Bar!”
Very impressed with the knowledge of the front desk staff who gave wonderful restaurant, shopping and tour suggestions (all of which we took and thoroughly enjoyed!). Hotel decor is ultra modern with a retro 70's style feel with very cool music playing in the foyer. The rooms have every amenity you could possibly need and more, however the beds were extremely soft and the pillows almost flat which resulted in not the best nights sleep :( The roof top bar is absolutely breathtaking with amazing views of the city skyscrapers and set around a lap pool which looks brilliant at night. The Valet parking attendants were a pleasure to deal with, however in comparison to everywhere else we have stayed throughout our US trip, the cost for valet seemed extremely exuberant! Would definitely recommend and would stay again for a short stay only.
“Lovely rooms, pool for the hip 20's set”
The room was funky but very comfortable and clean. Bed is on a pedastal on the floor - none of the heavy wooden furniture you find in hotels usually. The person showering is visible to the rest of the room - interesting. But very nice. Ordered room service which was AMAZING. Truly excellent food. The pool on the deck, and bar, seemed largely to be a scene for the young beautiful people. No kids there, and I felt ancient at 50. Still, free wifi, great location, and very nice rooms. I'd go again.
“Dowtown LA”
Hotel tries to be cool - but is basic - reasonable value - nice bar on rooftop - as expected is pricey.
“THE STANDARD IS THE PARTY SHIP OF HOTELS”
I REALLY DID ENJOY MY STAY AT THE STANDARD...EVEN THOUGH I WISH THE BED WAS A LITTLE BIGGER AND THE TV DIDNT SIT ON THE FLOOR,I HAD A GREAT TIME ON THE ROOF...WHAT A FANTASTIC VIEW AND THE DJ WAS AWESOME...
“fantastic!”
great place to stay if you want to spend some time out seeing the city, and some time hanging out at the hotel. great rooftop bar, and 24hr resto with pretty good food.
“Nice downtown”
Nice hip hotel in a good downtown area
“Unique Hotel Experience”
For the price and location we were very satisfied with this boutique hotel. My friend and I were sharing the Standard room and a bed and still felt like we had plenty of room to move around. The only downfall to the room was the lack of privacy regarding the shower (we knew it had a glass wall, but thought there would be a privacy curtain-which there was not), but we managed to just avert our eyes while the other person was showering. Problem solved! Also the room could have used another mirror over the desk/table area to create a vanity area and the shower pressure wasn't the best. As for the hotel, it was a pretty cool atmosphere with lots of little quirky decorations in the hallways, lobby, bathrooms etc. Definitely the highlight for me was the black & white photobooth by the lobby restroom! We couldn't quite understand why we had to pay $30 daily to valet our car as guests of the hotel. Somewhat steep and a little unfair to not just provide guests with access to a garage. However the valets were all super cool, so at least that was a plus. No pretentious attitudes here at all. The roof deck bar/pool area was really nice although prices were steep, but again a nice atmosphere. Fun, sassy hotel for those who want to stay somewhere more upscale than a Holiday Inn but can't afford to stay at a "W". The downtown area is a little sleepy, but there were plenty of nearby bars and restaurants, however LA action seems to center more around Hollywood. Would def return!
“Stayed before & will stay again”
The Standard downtown is a hotel geared for the younger crowd but unlike some of the other hotels that have the younger crowds, the Standard has good service, clean rooms & the furniture that isn't beaten up. The rooms are a little sparse (but cool) & could use a good lounge chair but the beds are comfortable. The room service is good & the pool parties are the bomb. The rates are reasonable for downtown. Beware of valet price shock but all downtown LA hotels have pricey parking
“Great place for resoanable price in Downtown L.A.”
We booked a Humongous room for 3 nites. I thought the price was very reasonable for the area. Front desk staff was great upon check in. We got there at 9:00 am coming off a cruise, and they let us check in right then. I loved the room, it truely was Humongous, and you could park a truck in our shower. Roof top pool was very nice...only 3' 6" deep though. I did find the bar staff to be somewhat rude, but hey, I am not a 25 year old hard body acting like I make a million a year, so I guess thats the way it is in L.A. Met some very nice locals while sitting in bar area, and that made up for the bartenders attitudes in my books.
