“This is balanced and accurate”
rReviews mixed and would have preferred Loews's but fully booked. Arrived at 1 pm from 12 hour o'night flight from Auckland and first impressions iffy when access not until 1500. Thereafter, nothing but superlatives re all interactions with staff. Yes, room is average size and bathroom slightly dated, but spotlessly clean, bedding changed every 2 days, and housekeeping staff very attentive. Front desk, concierge and valet team exceptional. Special mention to staff member in Fig who served us coffee and fries lunch tiime on Hallow'een and front desk member who effortlessly extended our check-out time to 2 pm Difficutl to address only criticism which is that trees arond pool area, a clear ambience plus, precludes much sun at this time of year, so we went t the beach. Would recommend over Loews for service experience.
“Outstanding Attention To Detail”
Everything about this hotel reflects a very high attention to detail. From the quality and attitude of the staff to the maintenance of the building. This property makes you feel good. Everything that a great hotel should be.
“great location and service”
Hotel is well located and has plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. Best & cheaper to eat in the surrounding areas. Service was always helpful and available. As a couple we found it more than adquate and would return in future.
“Outdated and run down”
Fairmont has such a great name, so when my regular hotel was booked, I booked a palisades suite with fairmont. I walked into my room an all I could see out the window was grime like it hadn't been washed in years, chips in the sink and tub like I was at a cheap motel 6. The carpet was sticky and soiled and the room looked like it was dated, the window. Treatments broken with rods sticking out. NOT worth the large price a night... Not to mention the windows were so thin icouldhear everything outsideasifthe windows were open No one offered to help with luggage when I checked in... I am a patient person and very forgiving of mishaps but this cleanliness and poor quality of the room is not acceptable. I will not stay again.
“SANTA MONICA STOP-OVER”
Having stayed the previous week in a very good hotel down the road, we were not expecting anything better but were very pleasantly surprised by the Fairmont which is grand but very comfortable. A few signs of wear in the rooms (carpet fraying) but the standard was very high and the service and helpfulness/friendliness of staff excellent. Only gripe (as with all LA and San Francisco hotels) is the excessive charge for parkling the car! Charges for the internet waived if you join the hotel's Pacific Club! Lovely outlook over Santa Monica beach and very well placed for local amenities.
“Excellent hotel”
We had a great stay at the Fairmont. Staff were very friendly and location very near the ocean was great. Valet parking was excellent but expensive - this was a holiday of a lifetime so we didn't mind!
“Front Desk Needs Help”
The hotel is fine, except front desk group were snippy and non-welcoming upon afternoon check-in.
“Looking forward to my next return!”
I have stayed in many hotels in the US and Europe and I must admit that this hotel is wonderful. A bit pricey but worth every cent and then some. I'm hoping to bring my dog next time ... the pet amenities are intriguing! The staff is friendly and enthusiastic an the ambiance is non-pretentiousness. This is a first class, top of the line resort/hotel to relax and enjoy Santa Monica.
“Almost at the Zenith of Luxury”
The Fairmont in Santa Monica never disappoints. Situated on a lush area on the bluff overlooking the beach, it is the perfect, self-contained oasis. The service culture is charming, the beds are incredibly comfortable and there is almost always a private terrace adjoining your room, overlooking the beach if you stay at the Ocean Tower. The cleanliness of the rooms, hallways, poolside, etc., are exceptional. The one area--minor detail--that the hotel could work on is follow-up to guest issues. It took the front-desk 1 hour to deliver my bags up to my room (even after 1 friendly phone call reminder) and the mini-bar service was missed a few days I was there. Otherwise, this is the perfect place to get away, relax, enjoy the sun and amenities. I keep going back.
“Great LA stay”
Very comfortable and clean rooms - housekeeping were excellent. good location for a stop over in LA - not too far from the airport but more relaxing than the rest of LA. Excellent restaurants and shopping nearby - nice pool area which makes up for not being on the beach. Free bikes a good bonus!
